The selection and variety is absolutely top notch and the staff are very kind and extremely knowledgeable (take advantage of their expertise!). I really can't say enough about them. They are a little more pricy on some items than some of the nurseries I've gone/go to, but their stock is far superior than anywhere else that I frequent. The best part of this store is the customer service. My elderly Mom was already near the check-out and wanted some petunias which were located in the garden centre (way at the back of the store). The lady who helped my Mom did not make her feel bad that she didn't know the name of the flower she wanted and brought her a few colors of the petunias to choose from. Then she needed some potting soil and another clerk went to get her a bag so she didn't have to move from the check-out area. Stellar customer service and products. My issue was not with the workers -- it was with the pricing structure and sales process. My patio was only 263 sq. ft., but I was told they have a 300 sq. ft. minimum charge. I was also presented with three grades of rubber surfacing ranging from approximately $10 to $18 per sq. ft. On top of that, I was charged $600 for "prep work," which the written quote described as including pressure washing, weed removal, grinding, crack sealing, edging, weed treatment, and general cleaning. In reality, the prep work consisted of less than 30 minutes of light pressure washing. No grinding, weed removal, crack sealing, edging, or other significant prep was required or performed. When I raised concerns with management, instead of simply acknowledging that the minimum charge may not have made sense for a small patio like mine, I received a lengthy explanation about employee wages, Vancouver operating costs, truck expenses, and equipment costs. I was even asked how I thought they should change their business model, which I found inappropriate. To their credit, management did eventually reduce the bill by $200 after discussion. However, I still believe the pricing and minimum charges should have been explained far more clearly upfront, particularly for smaller jobs where the actual prep work may be minimal. Bottom line: the finished product looks good, but I strongly recommend that customers ask detailed questions about minimum charges, prep fees, and exactly what work will actually be performed before signing anything. There are other companies out there, so get multiple quotes and compare carefully.

We had contacted around ten landscapers (at the peak season around late Spring) - only half had responded and only three came to take a look and given us quotes. Curb Appeal was one of them. Rick took the time to ask questions and was understanding in my vision of what I wanted to do with the vegetable garden. And he was able to work within my expected budget for the landscape project. Other contractors had only took a quick look and rarely followed up when I had questions. The project had met most of my expectations. When the project had some bumps, Rick was able to address my concerns. My suggestion when undergoing a landscaping project is to expect delays (especially during peak season). Originally, I was quoted for the project to be done within 5-7 days, but ended up being three weeks. But Rick was able to keep communications open to address the delays and reasons behind it. Also, the carpenters contractors that were hired to build the raised garden seemed to have rushed the wood encasing at which some parts were not perfectly aligned. Overall, we were happy with the project and I am making good use to growing our fruits and vegetables.
