The staff of nurses, CNA's, janitors, entertainment, and especially PT and OT personnel are the best, they treat like family. You need to pay attention to billing. Twice they tried to bill us for what Kaiser paid for. Thank goodness for my daughter who caught this. They kept trying. Very disturbing. This is the only facility that I could make a recommendation for. We have limited places in this area that we can go. The nightmare of decent assisted living and post care is limited. The only reason this place has gotten better is Kaiser. If you have good Kaiser coverage in El Sobrante, El Cerrito and Richmond you may survive a stay. The building is old. Wi-Fi goes in and out and television sucks. You don't know what station you're on. My brother IT guy said it's way they connected it. My roommate daughter is RN and our entire professional families had fun with channels. If you are looking for luxury it does Not exist here. Stay home hire CNA for $25 -35 an hour. If you got big bucks skilled RN are probably. Kaiser is amazing !!!!! Their staff provide their doctors, nurses and wrap around services. But Greenridge has good staff members too. Livingston managed transitional nightmare from Kaiser to Greenridge. We wanted to leave the First night. But because I have a bilateral knee replacement. Did not have leg to stand on. (Humor) My husband is great guy but he's no nurse. I had gut it out with Kaiser. Illness is a living Hell. After this I will NOT say anything bad about Kaiser again. Even though you're are sitting in your own poop it's part of experience. It's tougher or better and it's up to you. My thanks to Greenridge's staffs I coming with gifts for you. Visited dad a few times and he's doing as well as can be for his condition. Greenridge is very strict with visitations and must verify that you do not have Covid. It's a little more work, but totally understandable and I appreciate that because there doesn't seem to be multiple outbreaks like other facilities. I've witnessed the CNA's treating patients very gently and kindly walking many up and down the wide hallways for exercise & rehabilitation. Working with older patients can be challenging and I've never seen anyone displaying annoyance or bad attitudes towards them. My dad says he feels very encouraged here and that is a real blessing. read more

Since my mom has been at Greenridge she has gotten excellent care! I have seen too many facility's in the past and they all have certain smells when walking in the building, not here. Here I have noticed the CNA's take great pride in keeping their patients well groomed and clean with frequent checks on the patients that can not use the bathroom on their own. My mom is completely incontanent and they make sure her diaper stays dry snd clean. I have been caring for my mom at home for many years and it has gotten so difficult. I could never imagine putting my mom anywhere except for home. I feel completely at ease having my mom here! There has been a couple of times issues have arisen because no place is perfect but when I brought the issue to the staff they immediately helped me to get it corrected. One day when I arrived the staff came up to me and thanked me for the nice things I said about them when on a random state inspection nice things were said about them when the inspector went into my moms room. They assumed I said them, the fact is my mom told the inspector how nice they treat her and that she likes it there! My mom has never wanted to go to a facility at all! Knowing she feels safe and at ease here makes me happy! She has had several strokes and is nearly stage 5 kidney disease caring for her has been very overwhelming and difficult I am Grateful to Greenridge! read more

Extremely short staffed. My father was a patient here after suffering a stroke last month. He was only there for 1 week before we brought him home and got him into Alta Bates Rehabilitation. The first night at Greenridge, we received a call stating that my father fell, and that someone needed to stay the night with him because they were short staffed. For the rest of the week, my mother and I switched off night after night, experiencing the 24/7 reality of this place. During my father's stay, he has not bathed. Rarely did a CNA come to check on him, (I'm assuming because there was constantly a family member in the room with him so they figured we'd take care?). Call light went unanswered so we didn't even bother. We assisted my father with toileting, getting back into bed, and feeding as there was no available staff to assist. During the night, you could hear other patients screaming for help, saying things like "when are you going to change me" and "I've been sitting in my own sh** for hours". Between the yelling and patients blasting their TVs, I'm surprised anyone gets sleep around there. The OT, PT, and ST were great. But you need more CNAs to ensure patient safety and comfort. read more

Some really nice nursing aides, but its short staffed and you can wait a very long time after you ring your bell for help. Food - beware. Kaiser patients will be booted out after two weeks no matter what shape you're in and they will lie about your condition to get you out. Not enough PT, but the PT and OT staff can be helpful. I visited the facility to tour as a potential option for my mother's placement. Unfortunately, my interaction with the Admissions Coordinator, Lynette, was very unwelcoming. When I extended my hand to shake hers, she dismissively declined, which felt unnecessarily rude. One would expect an Admissions Coordinator, as one of the main faces of the facility, whose role is to make families feel comfortable and assure about entrusting their loved ones to the facility, to be more personable and welcoming. read more

Nobody wants to go to rehab, but I must say my husband and I were very pleased with Greenridge Senior Care. While my husband was recuperating from pneumonia, we found the staff wonderful and caring and willing to go over a beyond. We found the staff to be more attentive than at the hospital where he stayed for 15 days before. We appreciated the extra steps they took to keep the patients safe (Covid tests and masks for visitors, etc.). Thank you, Greenridge, for taking care of my husband and getting him home safe and sound. read more

So while I would still strongly suggest that advocacy needs to happen if the patient can't advocate for themselves, Greenridge is a fairly good place to let someone recuperate. In fact, I would have preferred my family member to have stayed here and not be transferred to the sister facility. For many reasons. Greenridge found an internal infection and treated it. The physical therapy was working. My family member was making great strides. When we entered the building we were always greeted with a smile. This is a very busy place and may be understaffed, but the staff are friendly and they do do their best. Just make sure to make your loved ones business your business. read more

The quality of care at Greenridge has been excellent for my mother in law, who is recovering from a severe stroke. I'd especially commend both Jazdeep and Livingson as two fantastic nurse caregivers, both willing to go above and beyond to make their patients comfortable. Tamika has brought wonderful smiles to brighten the days there and the CNAs and remaining staff are excellent also, most of whom I simply have not had the chance to interact with on a meaningful scale - or they too would be mentioned here. Saturday Alan returned home after three weeks at Greenridge. He was sent there by Kaiser Richmond, whose discharge planning services were much inferior to those of Kaiser Oakland last year. For example, he was sent there at 5:00 on a Friday without ANY of his medications. He has several complex medical conditions which require a variety of medications on a specific schedule. He didn't receive any of his medications until after 8AM the following morning. Most hospitals and skilled nursing facilities have difficulty dispensing complex medication regimens correctly. After a day or so Alan asked the RN to print out the medication schedule they were following. He corrected it and met w/ a doctor who approved his changes and advised the supervising nurse to follow his regimen. This made their schedule more closely approximate his own schedule at home. The facility is clean and well maintained. The rooms are small and are all shared, so there are no single rooms and space is tight. The staff was caring and hardworking. As at most facilities, they are shorthanded and nursing staff don't always respond as quickly as they or the patients would want. But they were helpful and did a good job of keeping him safe and working to fulfill his requests. Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy were particularly diligent and helpful in working w/ him. As at Elmwood, the food was pretty bad and there was insufficient attention paid to his need for a low sodium diet. But between Tammy and me and various friends, we kept him well fed. Greenridge is at the crest of a hill in a residential neighborhood. There is long-term care as well as skilled nursing. It's a family owned facility as opposed to a national chain. The signage directing visitors there from San Pablo Dam Road is remarkably clear and helpful. I really appreciated it the first time I went there. There are two parking lots and it's possible to park in the large circular red zone in front of the complex if the parking lots are full, which they sometimes were. When Alan was ready to leave he was told by several staff members that they enjoyed and will miss him. We all appreciate the care he received. read more

My father was there for 1 week. He had gone to Kaiser for some stomach pain and the inability to keep food down. He ended up with some dysphagia and a hard time speaking. He was admitted to Green Ridge to get his strength back and to closely monitor his eating habits. He was making some great progress when we visited him day by day. We go to see him on St Patrick's Day, and he appeared to be completely sedated. We found out that he received no help getting to the bathroom and when he tried to take it upon himself to get to the bathroom, he fell down and broke his hip. The staff at this negligent "rehabilitation facility" drugged him up and set him back in bed for 3 days before sending him to the hospital with a broken hip. WARNING: this place gives no sh*ts about you or your family and should be avoided at all costs. If you have a family member in this facility, request to have them move to ANY WHERE ELSE. No one called us to let us know of his condition and when confronted, the nursing staff seemed to have "lost his records" Addendum: I apparently was typing this in 2020 when it happened and it was filled it many colorful phrases that I have cleaned up before posting. I wish I had made this post back then and so i am posting it now. Apparently Yelp saves drafts of your incomplete reviews for at least 3 years. My father had to go through a hip transplant and never fully recovered his cognitive abilities after this place drugged him up for 3 days to keep him permanently sedated. He certainly didn't have dementia before he was admitted to this place and did afterwards. My father Died a few months later and I attribute a part of the cause of death with the infection that he couldn't beat from his fall at this facility. Second warning given. The reason I am revisiting this review is because my uncle (my father's brother) is now admitted to this hell hole and i have requested that my cousin have him moved ASAP. read more

I had a 17 day stay at Greenridge Acute Care. I was there for rehab of broken leg and completely confined to bed except when with PT/OT. The staff was always flexible and helpful. But I'm extremely grateful for the care of the nurses and CNAs. Their care was outstanding. They were responsive, well trained, and especially compassionate. The instructions and patience of the PTs and OTs were constant and so much appreciated. The entire facility was pleasant and supportive. I would most certainly choose Greenridge in the future for my acute care and rehab needs and highly recommend them. read more

My wife addmitted to Greenridge Dec 30, 2023, double room, other patient coughing regularly. wife came down with Covid positive Jan 8th. Jan 18, 2024 removed from Covid quarantine. questioned and asked for compression socks/boots to lessen the chance of blood clots, staff told me they do not have any at the facility. A friend who used to work at a skilled nursing facility (SNF) said that Greenridge should have ordered one from Medicare as part of the SNF responsibility to provide proper medical care. Jan 24th, my son noticed his mom's knee and leg swollen a possible sign of a blood clot. He strongly asked that her knee and leg be examined at Oakland Kaiser Emergency, initally refused by Greenridge medical staff. Son, now demanding that Greenridge send his mom to Oakland Kaiser Emergency and they complied on Jan 25th. Jan 26th Oakland Kaiser examination found blood clot and is now administering blood clot medication. A Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) called Jan 28th telling me, my wife will be transfered to a SNF in the near future and if I wanted her sent back to Greenridge. NO, was my answer telling the PCC the story of all the alledged medical failues listed above by the Greenridge medical staff. read more

STEVE very rude and very disrespectful to my grandpa he tried to poison my grandpa by giving him the wrong pills. He wasn't being changed, bathed, and not being shifted every 2 hours. He was cursing at my grandpa when asked 'can I go to the emergency room ' STEVE SAID " FOR WHAT THEY AIN'T GOING NOTHING FOR YOU" "JUST SIT THERE". Have not bathed him in the 3 week's that he was there then when we got there today to get him to this hospital they had the nerve to be bathing him! My mom has been taking care of my grandma for years by herself. She would not even consider having her go to a facility. She has just brought her home from the hospital after each medical condition and stroke. My grandma had another stroke now and this is the first time my mom has allowed her to go to a facility for rehab. She is currently at Green Ridge post acute care and my mom and my grandma are both happy. They are taking great care of my grandmother and my mom feels a great sense of relief because this place is taking such good care of my grandmother. The physical therapy staff, CNA's, the RNs and the office personnel along with the kitchen really go out of their way to make sure my grandma gets everything she needs. Since the stroke regaining use of her left side very slowly but everyone's very patient with her. When you walk in it doesn't smell like a lot of facilities, it smells clean. There is constantly someone cleaning you see them in the hallways and in the rooms all the time. Thank you Greenridge for taking such good care of my grandmother and bringing such relief to my mom. read more

I usually only write reviews for outstanding businesses but my family has and is still having a very poor experience with Greenridge. My 86 year old mother has dementia and had suffered from seizures and needed to be in acute rehab. Back in June she'd had a stroke, and it was recommended that we stay clear of skilled nursing homes and now I wish I'd heeded the warning. From the very first encounter with the staff at Greenridge, it was clear to me that it was not a priority to keep the family in the loop. It was like pulling teeth to get any information about my mother's progress, condition, or even to talk to a doctor ( I only received one update, he was rude, in a rush, and only wanted to know if he had my permission to sedate her if she became "difficult"). Nurses were rude, no one could give straight answers on anything, and one time I came and they didn't even know where my mother was (apparently they don't communicate with each other, either). Understaffed is an understatement. No one seems happy there, and no one had a moment to talk to me, let alone attend to my mother. I even had to change a diaper on a visit because no one was available to do it. Once I decided to move her to an acute rehab, the process was so slow that I decided to bring her home early to avoid the Covid outbreak that seemed to be out of control over there. They sent her home with no diaper, even though I packed some for her, and kept many of her personal items, including two pairs of prescription glasses (my mother is legally blind). I have called every day to see if we can get the glasses back, and they promise to call me back. Even the social worker was not honest with me about contacting the home health care company I requested for my mother. My mother has been without services for five days now. Something is not right at this place; maybe they were a five star facility at some point, but they did not do right by my family. We are African-American, and apparently my mother named racism from the first day, and I didn't take it seriously, but now I am wondering if it was taken for granted that we would put up with substandard treatment. read more

Greenridge facility is very clean, no smell, well run, low census (about 12) which allows for lots of individual care. Our mom has been there for three years and recently celebrated her 100th birthday. The staff is friendly and responsive to all our requests. During COVID Greenridge had excellent, professional precautions and no infections. We looked long and hard at numerous facilities before choosing Greenridge. Staff also speaks many different languages as needed. Can't speak highly enough of Greenridge and, it is affordable. read more

I am not sure about all the negative reviews but we had a very positive experience with Greenridge. My mother-in-law stayed here for 2 weeks after she fell and broke her wrists. Everyone was so good with her and very attentive. If I had one complaint it was that they don't seem to have a dedicated person at the front desk. Other than that, the nurses, nursing assistants, doctor, physical therapists and administrative workers were helpful and very in tune to her needs. She has dementia and was scared and they calmed her down. By the time we took her home she was more alert and happy than she has been in a long time. read more

I went to Greenridge after surgery on my broken hip, and received excellent nursing care. The physiotherapists were enormously helpful. However I would have liked two sessions a day and had only one a day with a physiotherapist.On the whole, I would recommend this rehab facility, and would use it again. read more

I am 61 years old and was just discharged from Greenridge on 2-21-14 after spending 2 1/2 weeks there, recuperating from a broken leg. I will say at the outset that their therapy (PT and OT programs) is exceptional, and I have no complaints about this aspect. Other than that, though, my time as a resident there was one of the most horrible experiences I have ever had. The main doctor there, Dr. Udenyi, showed no respect for my needs as an individual unique patient. She prescribed medications without even talking to me about them. The facility was a long-term care facility for nine of their ten years in business and have only been treating patients such as myself for the last year or so. I am. an active adult and do not feel I should be treated the same way as someone who is 80 or 90 years old and who is unlikely to ever leave such a facility. read more

Visiting hours end at 8pm Small place, 2 patients per room Dinner is served around 5pm (i think) everyone is around to help, or answer any questions you may have.
