That said, what ultimately made us walk away wasn't the facility--it was the people. At this price point, hospitality should be part of the experience. Unfortunately, nearly every interaction we had with the front desk felt cold and transactional. The staff often seemed more engaged in conversations with one another than acknowledging members or prospective members. Instead of feeling welcomed, we frequently felt as though we were inconveniencing them by asking basic questions or checking in. For a luxury fitness brand, that's am extremely disappointing first impression. After touring multiple gyms, we ultimately chose to stay loyal to Orangetheory Williamsburg instead. While it's a completely different style of workout, the difference in customer experience was impossible to ignore. From our very first visit, the staff greeted us warmly, remembered our names, and made us feel like part of a community rather than just another membership. That sense of hospitality made the decision surprisingly easy. One additional point of feedback is the sales experience. I work in enterprise sales myself, so I understand the importance of following up with prospective customers. However, there's a fine line between persistence and becoming overwhelming. Orangetheory occasionally sends a promotional text or email, which feels respectful. Equinox, on the other hand, repeatedly called, texted, and emailed after our visit to the point that it became excessive and I felt harassed. Rather than reinforcing the value of the brand, it had the opposite effect and made the experience feel more aggressive than premium. For a luxury gym with a luxury price tag, I expected a customer experience that matched the brand. The facilities are impressive, but management should seriously consider investing more attention into the hospitality culture at the front desk and the overall sales approach. Those interactions ultimately influenced our decision far more than the equipment ever did.

You go up a flight of stairs to go back downstairs to the lockers…read more The space and layout is different from other Equinox which. Not all Equinox will be alike as far as space and layout. Members should know this by now given all the complaints about this location. The gym is a mid sized gym. Not small like most comments on here. Not sure based on these comments made from people calling out it is small. The layout is a bit different. Yes. The Main Studio feels like a glass while everyone looks at you work out. You see, most Equinox locations I have visited either the main studio is tucked away partially from the gym's floor visibility or has a wall to make it a bit more private. I felt like the main studio at the Williamsburg location everyone from all angles can see you workout. The yoga studio is downstairs. Right across from the women's locker. Would have been nice if the main studio was situated the same as well. My guess is depending what time you visit will depend how less crowded or crowded it is. Personally, I have zero complaints about this location. My only complaint is I dislike those numerical combination lockers.

Repost from Google Reviews…read more If you're looking for an inclusive or family friendly place to learn, I highly advise against this school (both locations). They are elitist, disrespectful, unprofessional and do not follow the principles that I believe Martial Arts represents. When I attended this gym, I was fairly new to the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu/Martial Arts community and unfortunately I was not welcomed here. I was met with hostility by the owner, Mila, throughout every interaction, who doesn't carry herself as if she's running a professional business. The first time I met her, she tried to pop my cauliflower ear with her bare hands, and when I expressed that I preferred she didn't because my fiancé and I make decisions about our health together, she questioned who he was and tried to grab my ear again stating, "but I'm a doctor. Is he a doctor?" Several of their instructors exhibited unprofessional behavior on multiple occasions as well. I felt uncomfortable with their main instructor, Jeff Kim, specifically due to the numerous times he mentioned bringing in "hot girls" to attract more customers to their business. Moreover, Jeff and another teacher, Kyle, both continuously questioned my preference to only train with women (with the exception of my fiancé) and crossed my boundaries by touching me after I explicitly asked not to be touched. I do realize that BJJ is a contact sport, however I believe in the power of choosing your training partners. It's the simple concept of consent that, for some reason, the adults running this facility do not understand or respect. Outside of my individual experience here, my fiancé who has been training for several years was met with the same negative, toxic behavior. When he mentioned the racial undertones he was experiencing, the owner, instructors and several students verbally attacked us. We are extremely disappointed that they didn't do the right thing.
