Josh and his crew did an amazing job at our house. If you're looking for yard work, planting, or landscaping GreenOp will do an amazing job. When we moved into our new home in Dorchester, the front yard was a blank slate, and our backyard had a Japanese garden theme going on. Nine months later, our back yard was completely overgrown and our front yard was still plain. Neither my wife or I have green thumbs so we were in trouble. Josh came over to our place, listened to our concerns, thoughts, needs and figured out plantings for around our home. He had a vision for our front yard--planting bushes, flowers, a rhododendron and more--he knew how to turn the side yard into a great perennial garden, and he worked with us on getting our backyard back into shape. We wanted to plan a tree in the front yard and he suggested a dogwood, which will grow to just the right size. Initially, we had considered finding a landscape architect, but after talking to Josh, we realized we didn't need one. It was their busiest time of the year, but Josh and his crew were able to get started within a month of our first meeting. They did an amazing job weeding and extracting our dying plants and bushes. They took great care of our property. They even worked through multiple 90 degree days. Josh gave us clear instructions about how to water and care for all the new plants, how to recognize signs of trouble, and even helped us with watering when we were out of town for a couple of days. Our house and yard look great. I'm beyond pleased with Josh and his crew. As the plants keep growing and maturing, they just keep getting better. In 14 years of troubleshooting this problem with LOTS of different landscapers, Josh is the only professional to brainstorm creative solutions so we can keep our yard beautiful and stop the madness. Josh suggested making the area a beautiful mulch garden with lots of shade tolerant plants that offer a variety of colors, heights and textures. We first heard of JnJ from their business cards left at our 6-unit residential building. Our association was in need of landscaping services including a clean-up, planting, and ongoing maintenance. We were looking forward to supporting a budding local business. A member of the association as well as our property manager spoke with with Josh from JnJ. It took us a while to decide on the scope of services, and we received several quotes from Josh who was patient and responsive. We came to an agreement in early Nov 2017 and were told that JnJ would service our yard on Dec 2nd. The day came and went but they never showed up. Our property manager reached out and Josh rescheduled for the 16th. Again, that day came and went. No communication from JnJ until our property manager reached out again. JnJ "ran out of time for clean-ups for a handful of their properties" and that was the extent of the explanation received. Ultimately, JnJ was a no-show and had poor communication with scheduling. Would not recommend. read more

If you want the short version of a review: GreenOp didn't compete the work I hired them to do. Because of that, they offered to take an exact amount off the contract. But when it came time to actually issue me the refund, which amounted to about $60, they refused; instead saying they were comfortable just "calling it even". I'm not the only customer who has had issues with completion of work, scheduling and communication. Check the other reviews. Long version: I signed a landscaping contact with GreenOp in the summer of 2019 to take care of my property. Communication with the owner Josh was a little spotty, but I figured I could live with that. An important part of the contract was the Fall cleanup that GreenOp charged $395 for. As requested, I paid $305 of it as an upfront deposit. As Fall passed and winter approached, I became concerned that I hadn't heard anything about the scheduling date for the cleanup, so I called to check-in. No one got back to me. When I contacted them again in December asking why there was a delay in getting the cleanup done, Josh estimated that they might be able to get to it on January 15th. MIGHT. His exact words on my voicemail were "To be honest with you this happens almost every year." A Fall clean-up should happen by the beginning of winter, before there is too much snow on the ground. But although I was frustrated, I decided to let them (hopefully) compete the work in January. If they didn't, I'd get my deposit back and hire a different company in the springtime. GreenOp eventually did come, but did not compete the shrub/tree care portion of the job. Again, this was frustrating and disappointing, but not the end of the world. When I contacted them, the office manager emailed (in part), these exact words "Due to the fact the crew missed the pruning we will be voiding the last invoice (December ) in the amount of $122." That was fine with me, and would have zeroed my balance out. But Josh had forgotten that he agreed to change the number of mows in the contract from 8 to 7. So the cost of that extra mow was also due back to me. I had to exchange quite a few more emails with GreenOp's office manager to get on the same page about the math. But that wasn't her fault (she was actually quite pleasant to communicate with). The confusion was that Josh had forgotten that he'd adjusted my number of mows. Luckily, I never delete my text messages, so I was able to provide her a screenshot that served as evidence. After I outlined the math, she wrote "Thank you for your explanation it makes sense to me now." I was glad we were on the same page and thought the issue was resolved. But for some reason Josh still wouldn't authorize a refund. I obviously can't control what the company decides to do. But I have spent entirely too much energy going back and forth with a company that let me down by not doing the work when it was supposed to do it, and in the end couldn't even complete the job. Now Josh says that instead of just giving me the money I'm owed, he prefers to call me so we can talk about it. But what do we need to talk about? I have already invested too much time in this, and your office manager has already apologized on the company's behalf. You've had multiple opportunities to do what you were supposed to do. Just issue the refund. So I requested that instead of a phone conversation, they send me an email outlining the exact reasoning and math for denying me what is owed. I haven't heard back. What kind of company goes to such lengths to deny a customer $60? A company that you probably shouldn't trust with your money. And even if you do decide to to hire them, I wouldn't put down a large deposit on a Fall cleanup that they may never finish, since this kind of delay ".... happens almost every year." If you value getting what you paid for, you'll do a lot better with any of the other landscapers available in the area. I've already hired another company to come and do the job that GreenOp couldn't. read more

He provided a fair price to clean our yard up and do some plantings for the Spring. Some of the work has been done and it looks great. BONUS that we did not know until last week, but they also plow in the winter! When we were getting nervous about Spring Storm 2016 last week he proactively reached out to us to offer plowing a a decent price. Josh and his team are as good as it gets! We are always so pleased with the work they do. We started using their services a few years ago at our old house to take care of the leaves in the fall and yard clean up in the spring. They did an amazing job and were always cautious to make sure the gates were shut so the dog wouldn't get out. We used Josh last year for planting (a few bushes & large plants out in the back to create a 'green-screen', regular yard work (clean up in the spring and fall) as well as landscape (mowing/weeding). He & his crew were prompt, efficient and clean (no litter left over, etc.). I appreciate the text prompts to know when the crew is coming over and with the virus situation, appreciate it even more now. If there is a problem - e.g., last fall one of the guys broke an outside light - he let us know right away, as did Josh, to replace.
