Terrible customer service, I asked if they could speed up the process or schedule for a later date to do the construction because of the fact that I got little puppies that chewed and choked on a flag and their response is to send my vet bills to the support email. As they still continues to dig up my yard even past my property line, now my pups fell into one of the holes they made in my yard and was covered in yellow paint bc of the crazy, messy markings they put down. First off- no one in our neighborhood asked to have this company and their rude subcontractors come dig huge holes in our front yards, park their utility vehicles and block our mailboxes ( mail undelivered for 2 days) and park their equipment over night directly in front of our house leaving tire marks on the grass. None of the workers could communicate with us ( non English speaking) about what was going on or who we could call to talk to about this overnight set up/ installation. There were no numbers on the green light coming soon signs planted on some yards - without permission. The truck company (Danella) came with a non English speaking crew of 6-7 guys. They appeared to know what they were doing but could not communicate to any of us neighbors wanting to know what was going on. This is not meant to be a racial comment - just frustrating to not be able to communicate with the workers in a calm and positive manner. They arrived around 6 am in trucks with Maryland license plates and worked straight through until around 2-3pm No breaks or lunch taken - felt bad for them so I took them bottled water. read more

I never thought I'd say this, but Greenlight Networks actually managed to be worse than Spectrum. And that's genuinely impressive in the worst possible way. When I signed up for their fiber internet service in Buffalo, I figured anything had to be better than what I was dealing with. Wrong. So wrong. - The Installation That Destroyed My Faith in Humanity The techs showed up to run the fiber line to my house. Simple job, right? They ran the cable through a tree. Not around it. Not near it. THROUGH it, pressed right up against the branches. Every time the wind blew, the fiber was getting yanked and pulled. I'm not an electrician or a cable guy, but even I know you don't run lines through trees. This is basic stuff. Then they mounted the junction box on the front of my house. And when I say "front," I mean the most visible, ugly spot they could possibly find. No heads up. No "hey, where would you like this?" Just slapped it right there and called it a day. My curb appeal took a nosedive. - A Month of "Someone Will Call You Back" So I started calling customer support. And emailing. Multiple times. I wasn't asking for the moon here. Just a simple question. When can you fix this mess? The answer? Crickets. Well, not exactly crickets. More like vague promises and zero actual information. No timeline. No commitment. Just "we'll look into it" over and over again for an entire month. - Turns Out They CAN Move Fast (When Lawyers Get Involved) After a month of getting nowhere, I'd had enough. I sent a demand letter to their legal department. The next morning, literally the next morning, a technician was at my house moving the junction box. Funny how that works, isn't it? A month of phone calls gets you nothing. One letter to legal and suddenly they're on it. But here's the kicker. They moved the box but left the fiber running through the damn tree. The problem I'd been complaining about for weeks was still there. And sure enough, after the first windstorm, I could see the fiber was already getting damaged by the branches. - The $100 Middle Finger I was done. Completely fed up. I called to cancel the rest of the installation. Their response? "That'll be $100." Of course. Of course they hit me with a cancellation fee. Remember how I signed up during a promotion that promised free installation? Remember how there was zero mention of any cancellation fee during the entire signup process? Greenlight remembers different. According to them, I owed $100 to cancel an install they'd completely botched. - The Silent Treatment I disputed the fee over the phone. The person I spoke with said a manager would call me back. Yeah, I've heard that one before. Spoiler alert, no manager ever called. I disputed it via email. Nothing. They've just stopped responding entirely. They want their $100, but they won't even talk to me about it. Radio silence. - Why You Should Run This is why I'm writing this. So you don't make the same mistake I did. I couldn't even get a fiber line properly installed without Greenlight putting me through a two-month nightmare of incompetence, unprofessional work, ignored complaints, and surprise fees. If you're in Rochester, Buffalo, or anywhere else in Western New York and you're thinking about Greenlight Networks, please learn from my experience. There are other options out there. Hell, even Spectrum, for all its many, many problems, managed to provide better service than this. Save yourself the headache. Save yourself the stress. Save yourself the mysterious $100 fee. Had a sick family for a couple weeks- Had to postpone service 2x. Got a Cor*y on chat. Asked to postpone again (so their rep wouldn't get sick) and then asked about the free $100 installation. He said I don't qualify because I never asked 2-3 months ago. Now, they are ready to install months later and Co*ey told me they don't have free installation and then had the nerve to say "wait, you weren't sick all this time (which isn't their business to judge anyway) you just wanted a free install?" In an incredulous manner. I let him know that wasn't the case and how I had a code given to me by a rep but apparently didn't present it at the right time - and then asked for his manager's info (I got a first name) - is this Greenlight customer service? I'm convinced the 5 star glowing reviews are from people within the company or friends/family, even some of the names match! They are just sooo far out of the norm it might as well be a different company. Upgrade your customer service reps or train them in the fine art of customer service. Co*ey is complained about on many of these negative reviews. "So you weren't sick" - wow. Greenlight allows this - and I have it all in writing! I'd hope this is AI because a human would know better. Turn off the card they have on file so they don't charge you. Glad I never left spectrum- I've never got a Corey there, they at least pretended to care/help. I have had Greenlight for several months and during that time it worked fine and I got the advertised speed. However, we recently had a problem with the service. I called in to report the problem and was told by the service rep that there was a general outage and there was a service crew on the way to repair it. An hour later I got in touch with their chat service for an update and was told that there was no outage and that it was limited to our house only. The service rep had simply LIED to me. This is unacceptable. This happened on a Friday night. I was told that there would be no service tech available until Monday. With people working from home that rely on the internet to do their jobs waiting 72 hours to get a problem fixed is also unacceptable. The internet is so important to everyone's lives at this time that not having next day service is a joke. I had also asked for a supervisor to call me. It never happened. While the actual internet service is good, the customer service is a joke and I am no longer a customer. read more

Way faster speed-I'm not a gamer, but I'm not 12 years old either..No cable wires to deal with. Ripped them out of the interior/exterior walls. Able to rearrange two rooms simply by picking up the big screen and moving it.(not possible with Spectrum cables attached). Unfortunately Greenlight isn't available in Tampa Florida. Wow, have to say I am utter shocked at the revIews here so far. For us it has been a long wait to be sure, many years since I first heard of them as a provider, but their job is not an easy one either, and advocacy totally works. I would suggest using neighbored tools like Nextdoor.com to bring awareness in areas that are accepting orders, it worked in our area. Sure, I get it, $100 is hard to part with for anybody, but I can say that after out neighbored topped 80%, things toppled over super quick. I signed up as interested in early 2017, and ordered service a year ago when they notified me they would be coming to our neighborhood. Then we heard almost nothing till July when the main fiber optic cable was buried. I was super curious nerd that I am so I went out and talked to them, they burry about 400 feet at a shot, then have to burry a tap box, splice the cables to a customer panel and test the loopS to make sure they are stable. For our relatively small neighborhood that took months, but they were out there working tirelessly every day! Only after the loop testing was done could they start working to tie in every house, and that took them till January this year to run our fiber from the street too the house, and the guy that came and installed the service to the house spent about 2hours doing his part. Freedom from Frontier and Spectrum was not won in a day, it's a long fight, but having competition is SOOO worth it... hey, proof is in the speedtest results right? Frontier: 6Mbps down / 768kbps up (paid for 15) Spectrum: 45Mbps down / 9Mbps up (paid for 100) Greenlight: 498.4Mbps down / 49.9Mbps up (paid for 500) At least Greenlight delivers what they advertise instead of trying to pass of an oversubscribed service that lets you down when you need it most. read more

Pretty shocked by these 1 and 2 star reviews for customer service. I've had Greenlight in my house for the past year and have had nothing but positive experiences from the service to the speed and so on. Please note: the previous owners of the house did everything with the install and fiber construction, so all I had to do upon move in was activate and pay. All in all - this was simple as can be. Since then, we've had minimal issues with our service and speeds waaaaay faster than anything I used to get with the other internet provider in town. Just yesterday, we woke up to no internet. We sent an email to customer service (as it was a Sunday) and they got back to us saying they would have a technician out first thing this morning to resolve the issue. Sure enough, technicians were at my house at 10am to repair the frayed wire and ensure my service was up and running again. Jacob, who I spoke to on the phone, followed up with me to ensure everything was back on the up and up and I appreciated the attention to detail and follow through. I also had an issue accessing the VPN I use for work, and Greenlight had this resolved with a static IP from the moment I called as well - professionally and with understanding for how frustrating it can be to be without service. Are people calling the correct number? Maybe they've upped their game since some of these reviews were posted, but every customer service experience I have had has been painless and helpful. I pay $50/month for speedy internet the services my whole 1900 sq ft home (with an extender). Compared to the $85/month I used to pay for my 400 sq ft studio apartment, I could NOT be more please with Greenlight and hope to never use another provider again. read more

They bully and then try to tell You you have a binding contract that was signed by a notary. When I ask for copies of the paperwork that was stamped and the notary ledger they dance around the request. I never signed a ledger or had a notary stamped. Did they do this after the fact? Totally illegal if that's the case. PS greenlight...notarys do NOT make this a binding contract 2 years later. read more

Greenlight is on my street and has been now for a while. We made the choice to switch providers and got online to sign up for this service. I went through the process and signed up. I took their recommendation on a router and made this purchase. Now I'm waiting for installation date so I can get started. Wrong, even though it's on my street they don't have a port available on the pole across the street from my house. So we are now SOL. When asked for timeline as to how long it would take to have available they just don't know. It's on my street but not really. Poor poor CS. read more

The install process was pretty quick if you never had Greenlight at your house before. The install costs $100. They provide a modem and send some service techs out to do the install. Greenlight is very slow at setting up our neighborhood. They set up the area all round us but keep delaying our area. I signed up two years ago. They keep giving vague excuses and can't seem to nail down an install date. Starting to doubt that they will get us hooked up anytime soon. Two years sitting on my deposit is way to long. I signed up for Greenlight about 10 months before it was installed. I had read the process and knew what to expect. I checked in every so often to see if there was progress. Some of the responses were cookie cutter but I wasn't offended by it like so many on here. After about 2 months of service I realized that we weren't utilizing the speed offered by the Big Gig and never would. I sent an email, got an immediate response, and my plan was chopped in half with 0 hassle. was no service issues. The only issue I had was with the installer. He was a young guy, a little arrogant, and he told me to put my router in the basement tucked up inside my dusty duct work. I kept asking if he was sure and he promised he was. Signal strength was terrible so after a week, I moved it to the first floor, ran the cable and boom, way better coverage. I used to pay $175 for internet, and cable for my family. I now pay $50 to Greenlight, $40 to YouTube TV (they get 8,10, 13 live) and $14 to Netflix. I couldn't be happier with the choice I made. Anyone that is complaining that the $10 deposit didn't get you service the next day hasn't read that this is not an existing line. They are developing their network and moving as fast as they can within their cost structure. They also have to work around other utilities and municipalities. My advice: Be patient. Good things come to those that wait. read more

Communication was okay. It's clear they are using a cobbled together system. I received a lot of updates about what they were working on, but scheduling and confirming installation and billing was a disconnected and barebones process. They sent me my first bill AFTER they had charged me incorrectly and said there was nothing they could do to fix it. Do NOT trust Greenlight Networks! I've contacted them 20 times and spoke to 7 different representatives over the last 3 months, they charged me $100 and damaged the siding of my house. Initially I was excited to get fiber internet and hired Greenlight Networks to set up service at my residence. They never gave me a heads up on date or time of install and showed up when I was not home. I had to find out via a call from my neighbor that someone was working on the house. By the time I was alerted to the install taking place, the installer mounted and hooked up the network box on the wall of my front porch, the main entrance to the home, mere feet from the front door! They never called to tell me they were coming, they never called to get my input on installation location, and now the siding feet from the main door to the home has been drilled through and compromised. This all happened on Dec 19, 2022. Greenlight Networks needs to take responsibility and remedy the situation, both moving the box and fixing the siding. On Dec 23, a gentleman named Roosevelt came to complete the interior portion of the installation. As soon as he saw the installed box, he mentioned that it should not have been installed in that location. He called his supervisor Jared. Initially Jared wanted to argue and backpedal (and even stated that Roosevelt shouldn't have made that comment), but ultimately sided with me and said they would make it right. He told me a manager from Greenlight named Dan would contact me the next day to take care of it all. But Dan never contacted me. For the following weeks, I attempted to contact Greenlight customer service, but never got connected to customer service, and ended up leaving numerous voicemails, none of which were responded to. Finally, I was able to reach a rep named Joe, who then created a "ticket" on the matter. The same week an individual named Mike M. called and said that they would cover the charges for the damages and reinstall it somewhere else. He stated he would figure out a plan of action and call me back with details, but he never did. This started to become a pattern. Once again, weeks went by without contact or communication from Greenlight and randomly, again while I was at work, a guy named Chad rang my Ring doorbell and I talked to him through the Ring Camera app and then via mobile. He again mentioned that the box never should have been installed there and listed a few places it would have been better suited. He said he had to call his supervisor to confirm next steps and someone would reach out. Again no one called me, so I dialed Chad back. Once again said he'd let his supervisor know. A few weeks later, Joe finally calls me just to ask if they can just move the box with no plan to fix the siding. I once again asked about next steps to fix their damage once the box is moved, but was left without an answer. At this point I'm well aware that they just want to keep passing the buck. Finally on March 10th, Chris G., a team lead with Greenlight calls me and I once again need to reiterate my situation. He dismissed fixing the house and once again just wanted to pressure me to wrap up installation, which I said was not satisfactory. He was yet another person that confirmed the box definitely shouldn't have been installed there, but unable to answer how it would be resolved, and mentioned he would follow-up with me. On March 14th, Chris G called me again, not to tell me they have a plan to resolve the issue, but instead to tell me they may have to charge me $100. Obviously this wasn't okay with me and I made it known I would not be charged until they held up their end of the bargain. Yesterday, March 22nd, I received an email from Greenlight stating that they've "sent me multiple emails regarding the installation that have went unanswered (not true), that my account has been canceled and they are charging me $100 for the installation". So ultimately, they butchered the install, gave me no resolution after promising time and time again, bounced me all over for months, and now want to collect payment for their hack job and leave me on the hook for repairs. read more

I am a brand new customer to greenlight. I have had the service for 1 month. While away on vacation, my ring service went down and I was unable to monitor my house all because I had lost internet connection. When I got home, I immediately called greenlight and went through trouble shooting with them. They stated they could see low light disturbance on the line for about 1 week and it was a problem outside. The technician came out the next day and stated it was a connection issue on the line that is rare and he only sees it once or twice a year. I asked for credit on my bill since it is a brand new service and obviously a problem on their end! They replied they don't give credit for problems outside the house. I have a big problem with that. Your product, your service, your reputation. I would think they would back their product that's one month old and keep a happy customer but they didn't care. read more

When it works it works. When it goes down there is zero communication on the outage, zero ability to track outages on their website. Just sit, wait and keep checking your network in hopes that it comes up. Outages are often extensive and questions the resiliency in their network architecture. NO ONE showed up. i called tonight when i got home from work and was told the installation for our service did not "populate the calendar." Now, after all this time, they tell me I have to wait until someone moves or disconnects before they can connect me. When is that? They have no idea. A week, a year? Obviously over 2 months. What do they think I've been doing these 2 months. Why didn't they tell me how long it would take to begin with. The person you get on the phone is the only person they will let you talk to. There is no supervisor or anyone in charge that they will allow communication with. It's just a constant runaround. How does this company stay in business? WFH service was initially a little slow but it seems to have gotten a lot better. there was one short lived outage when i was useing them in Lawrenceville, then moved to Friendship Ave and have had no problems. they have great customer service and response time. would highly recommend! read more

I have been a Greenlight customer for 2 years. Beyond the initial miscommunication of having to wait 4-6 weeks for installation, and needing to purchase my own wifi router. The actual speeds and service are no different than Time Warner/Spectrum. Today I reached out to have my service suspended as we are in a Mandatory Covid Shut Down and I have $0 in income (no unemployment, and no financial aid from Federal or State Governments) so I don't have the money to keep internet. I had planned on remaining a Greenlight customer when I am able to return to work, so I was hoping to retain my modem. I was informed it is a $25 fee to suspend my service and hold on to my modem. I have $0 in income coming in, I don't have the finances to pay $25 to remain a Greenlight customer when my income returns. So at the end of my current billing cycle I will cancel my service, risk my life taking a public bus (if they are still running) to return a crappy little box so I don't get charged $100 a don't have. Great way to be of support to your community in a time of health and financial crisis Greenlight. read more

The only issue (if you want to call it that) I have is their inability to provide a straight answer that doesn't contradict the previous one. They are only going to wire a portion of the west side and they did my street 2 months ago and ran cable under the street around that time as well. One of the new outlets here in Buffalo ran an article about Cheektowaga being fully connected as well as Buffalo's west side but according to the sales rep I spoke to yesterday it'll be weeks, possibly as many as 10 or more! But she didn't really know and said to keep an eye out for an email from them telling me they're ready to schedule the set up. Meanwhile I'll just keep paying Spectrum $90 a month JUST for internet. read more

Our neighborhood was excited to hear that Greenlight was going to activate our service district, and most of the homes had indicated to Greenlight that we wanted to switch to them. We were getting updates and emails that the company expected to begin installations soon. I purchased new equipment to meet their recommendation for connectivity. After several months, we were still waiting. We were hearing from the company that they were waiting for approvals from the town government. This dragged on for a year. Finally, we heard earlier this summer that although all the streets around us were going to begin installations, our street of almost 200 houses (most of whom had already signed up to switch to them) would not be getting service. The company decided it was not in their financial interest to give us service. We are now stuck with Spectrum, who I am sure will be ready to jack up our service price based on Greenlight's decision. read more

Greenlight doesn't seem to want me as a customer. I'm lucky enough to be in one of Greenlight's existing supported neighborhoods in Pittsford. I put down a deposit in mid-June so that service would be up and running for my move-in in August. After hearing nothing from Greenlight for several weeks, I called and was told that installations are 3-5 weeks after the deposit. Now it's been 10 weeks. My calls to Greenlight always end with "We'll have someone call you within an hour" and then I never get a call back. Instead, I sometimes get vague emails that describe the installation process but never give any indication if or when the installation will actually take place. This morning, I called Greenlight and told them that if they can't give me an ETA, I'll have to reluctantly go with Charter. They said they would absolutely call me back within an hour. That was 6 hours ago. Update: In frustration, I paid Greenlight a visit and politely asked for an ETA. As I waited in the lobby, I could hear them debating who would have to go talk to the customer. Someone came out and told me that my install would be started the next day (what a coincidence!) and finished this week. I call today to find out exactly when they're finishing. I received an email back saying that the install was delayed because they were waiting for my permission to tear up my driveway. Not only did they never tell me about this, but there's no way I'm tearing up my driveway. Update 2: After all that, I did finally get installed and without harm to the driveway. Since then, Greenlight has been okay. A few outages here and there, without much communication about the status. I'm getting more like 700mbps, not 1gbps, but it's fine for my needs. Greenlight internet dug up my front lawn to install their cable. After they filled in the trench they created they replanted the grass however there was a twenty foot by three foot section of lawn were the grass did not grow and was bare. I called their customer service and after a while they sent someone out to replant the bare spot. That effort to reseed the lawn was not successful and the grass did not grow. I called back in April to let them know that the bare spot still needed to be replanted. Between April and July I called a total of four times and talked to four different customer service representatives to let them know that I was still waiting for them to reseed and restore my lawn. Each time I was given apologies and promises that my lawn would be fixed. We've had Greenlight for about 2 years. The outages are more frequent than Spectrum ever was, but the speeds are definitely better. We pay for the 750 Mbps up and down package. My problem isn't with the product as much as it is with the customer service. Actually the first thing I will mention is a major major plus. On July 3 we lost internet connection due to the fact that their cables were damaged somehow (which is easy because they're above ground and weaved between tree branches). We reported the problem that afternoon (which you have to do online ironically because their phone service is subpar), and the next morning on July 4 a service person was at our doorstep and fixed the problem. The promptness definitely gets an A++. There was absolutely 0 communication back to us after we submitted the help ticket however. Not a word back to us. On the morning the service person was just knocking on the door. If no one was home I don't know what their plan was. I really expect better communication and a more robust reporting system where we can call them with better service. read more
