place to drop off recyclables in El Cajon. The staff is friendly, efficient, and always willing to help out if you have questions about what materials they accept. The facility is organized, and they move quickly so you don't spend a lot of time waiting in line. What I really appreciate is how easy they make the process--pull up, unload, and you're on your way. They're fair and consistent with payouts, and value for the what you get which is great compared to some other spots. Plus, the location on Greenfield Drive is easy to find and has plenty of space to get in and out without hassle. If you're looking for a clean, straightforward recycling center with good customer service, Greenfield Recycling is definitely a solid choice. read more

This place is great but your first time they will not give you the money that you want that had a lot of cans bottles so be careful your first time do not let them do them you do it I got 40$ that should be more when we had a lot so you do it and they will give you the right value the price is not fair read more

The workers were helpful and courteous enough but the calculation for the payment wasn't accurate. I counted out what should have been $20 worth of cans and plastic bottles but when they weighed them the total was calculated as $16.61. read more

Been going to this recycling center for years and I make sure to sort my stuff now they don't want to do anything to help you ... it's like I'm doing them a favor ! Told man in booth he just smirks and tell me an excuse, no good customer service . Then I told him his silence speaks volumes and he is the owner! ?? Hope people don't give this rude business any business! I will never go back ! read more

We save our recycle and take it every 6 months or so. We had a lot this time. The person weighing the material asked if we wanted to use the big trash cans or just weigh as-is using our clear light-weight plastic trash bags. We had him use our trash bags. When we received our cash, it seemed about half of what we expected. On the way home, we closely reviewed the weigh slip. The weight was reduced as if we had used the heavy trash cans. They basically kept half of our recycling refund to add to their profits. Find another facility. read more

Who enjoys recycling? No one ever! I take my son to recycle on a weekly basis to whichever recycling place is convenient to errands. Greenfield is least unpleasant recycling experience, and y'all know that says a lot! super convenient to pull into, back up to the stall, my son unloads and collects, we pull out in less than 5 minutes. Nothing disgusting read more

Place total rip off, I weighed my recycling to keep them honest and found they are not. Watch them weigh your recycling they will block your view so you don't see the weight. Then they will short you at the window as well. Double shady. Unfortunate cause it's the closest place to my house but I'll travel farther for more reputable place. read more

I have been coming here for years and bringing same amount of recycles each time. This time I have more aluminum and got ripped off. Was getting $20 then now with more aluminum I got $12!!!! Couldn't believe it time to find somewhere else to go. read more

It's a place to get rid of recycling and get a little cash back. I don't need conversation or help. Thanks for being in business!!

A pretty good place to go for your recycling. They have great prices back to you and they take a large amount of items. I always come with bottles, cans, and milk jugs. We always leave with a good amount of funds provided back to us. The staff is efficient and they are good at getting you in and out. I suggest keeping hand sanitizer around as after you are done touching the cans that you place your items in, you won't be feeling your cleanest. read more

I came here because of the good ratings on yelp. I received horrible service. The employees seemed to be upset and didn't really want to be there. I stood there waiting for help for several minutes. I asked one of the guys for help separating my plastics from the aluminum cans, and he told me to use the separator machine. I waited for the other guy to turn it on and begin separating cans for over 15 mins. When I asked again for help they started speaking in another language and went on with their work, but didn't help. I ended up leaving and going to another place. Horrible service and very rude. read more

I went to this recycling center for the first time yesterday. As far as what they pay, it looked like their prices were better then what we are used to by about $.10 for aluminum. We usually go to a place just off El Cajon Boulevard. Because of the better refund price, I kind of figured they would be a little bit more picky in terms of what they accepted. They literally checked everything to make sure it was all refundable, which was understandable, but they weren't very cool about it. When we got there, we were the only ones in the lot. It was about three o'clock in the afternoon. The good thing about this experience was they came and sorted the bottles for us. On the same note though, they completely rushed us, which was cool because we got out of there fast, but they ended up breaking a lot of glass in the process. Sucks for whoever decided to park there after us. To sum it up, I'm giving them two stars out of five because of the fact that they were not only kind of rude in a sense, but also careless and sloppy at the same time. It may have just been me, but I'm pretty sure we ended up getting less than usual, despite having what seemed like twice the amount of recyclables. I only recommend this recycling centers to those who are in a hurry, because they definitely were fast, and we were done in record time. They just didn't really make us feel valued as a customer at all. read more

Some customers but no personnel were wearing masks today. Recycle here only if you want to take a chance on being exposed to the virus.

Very clean facility and they are very nice and helpful. Great to find a good company to recycle and keep our world a beautiful place to live. C. Lovejoy 2/28/18 read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! I called this place to make sure what time they were close and they told me they close at 5:00pm.. it was 5:40 telling them I most likely get there exactly at 5:00 because of errands that I was running and they told me that it was find.. so as I was pulling to the place it was 4:55 Rushing in with only the two bags that I have as I was running in to the place one of the working started closing the gate right in front of my face. I told the worker that I called, telling him that they told me through the phone that It was okay for me to go exactly at 5.. when it wasn't even 5:00pm yet! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE!! This place is a RIP OFF. I returned 21 pounds of cans at 1.60 and received 14 dollars. DONT TAKE YOUR CANS THERE.

Love this place! I've been coming here for years. The people are so nice. They work hard, fast and they're focused. I show up organized and I expect them to inspect it all. I read everyone's reviews. In their defense, they don't always smile to new customers, but do people give them reason to smile? I always take the initiative to say hello with a smile. Now when they see me they recognize me and greet me with a it's kept very clean with plenty of parking. I won't go anywhere else!!! I love them all. you won't regret giving them your business. The hours say 8:00 am - 5:00 pm showed up at 4:55 pm with 3 small bags of cans and was turned away. Called to ask what there hours were and was told the were open until 5:00 pm but still wouldn't accept my cans. I would stay away from this company and go somewhere that is willing to provide good customer service. read more

They lied said they weigh the second container they didn't 26 lb and I got $29 they said they're paying me a dollar seventy BS

If I could give them 0 stars I would. I came to this location due to just missing Quality Recycling's closing time. (Highly recommended by the way!) I stopped in and began dividing up my recycling. I tend to have lots of mixed glass, plastic and cans, so when I arrive I tend to do quite a bit of sorting. As I began, one of the workers came up and explained that I would not be able to recycle Glass or Plastic that is non-crv, I then asked if I would be able to leave it for free for them to recycle themselves. He responded no, and that he would not let me fill his trash cans with my "trash", referring to perfectly recyclable bottles, and furthermore that I would need to take them with me. EVERY OTHER recycling place I have been to has taken any excess/non-crv material, and either sorts it for jarge scale recycling or simply trashes it. To ask me to take it with me, when it is CLEARLY NOT TRASH, is an insult, and a rather poor business decision. I'm basically giving away free money. I even sorted it all for you! I then proceeded to dispose of my empty trashbags and carboard boxes in their designated trash cans, which I assumed were for exactly these items, and was met again with aggression. He said, "This is not for trash." Clearly referring to the trash can. I assumed due to English as his second language he simply meant that my trash was not acceptable by their standards. To this, I asked if he would let me breakdown the cardboard boxes and accept those, seeing as again, we are at a recycling center, and cardboard is a widely accepted recyclable. At this point the owner/supervisor walks over as things get heated and he tells me he will not serve me. This was after I spent the last 20 minutes sorting through all my recycling and putting them into separate trash cans owned by the Greenfield Recycling, destroying the containers I brought them in, in process. I told the owner, I would leave, but that I was taking the trash cans that all my recycling was in with me, as I was not about to dump a truck bed full of sorted cans, plastic, and glass into the back of my truck to be mixed, broken, and smashed. Not to mention the mess! At this point the owner finally agreed to take my cardboard, BUT NO OTHER NON-CRV glass/plastic. I eventually got my items weighed and was paid, and was on my way. I will NEVER RETURN, nor would I EVER recommend anyone ever go here. The help was rude, and none of them communicated effectively in the English language. I was disrespected, and denied basic recycling services. WORST RECYCLING CENTER! STAY AWAY! read more

Great fast and friendly service. I was pleasantly surprised how nice this experience was.

Love this recycling center. Everyone is always so nice and helpful Whenever I'm in town I make sure to drop my cans off here. Prices are always great, better than most places read more

I really liked this recycling center! Big parking lot where you can back right up to the cans. They come over and unload your truck for you! They give you a nice printed itemized receipt. I would have given them 5 stars if it wasn't for the guy that helped us. He was nice but had a lit cigarette hanging out of his mouth the entire time he helped us. It was me and my 10 year old daughter. He shouldn't be working around people and smoking. That's what breaks are for. I guess I have to say I was offend by this. I hope next time I go there this doesn't happen. read more

I'm new to taking cans/bottles to a recycling center for cash back and I've tried three different recycling centers over the past month. Today I went to Greenfield Recycling for the first time and it's my favorite place so far! The staff were all friendly and kind, and the process was really efficient. I went there on a lunch break from work, and I was in and out in about 10 minutes. Greenfield Recycling has ample parking (which I haven't found at other recycling centers), with lots of space to sort my cans/bottles. I will definately be going back to Greenfield Recycling in the future! read more

I've been coming to this place for two years since I moved to El Cajon and was always impressed by how speedy they were. However, monday (MLK JR. DAY) I drove there and saw the gate was partially open, so poked my head in to ask if they were open.
