Visited a few days back with my office colleagues for Happy Hour, and we had a pretty good experience. They have a good selection of Cocktails, and some decent options in their Happy Hour Menu, including $2 Oysters that was pretty fresh. We ordered a wide range of appetizers, and everything tasted good. Service was quick enough, considering how busy they were. Staff were friendly, and the atmosphere was also pretty chill. Place wasn't too loud and was able to hold conversation without shouting over each other. Tables and Chairs were somewhat rickety though, hope they fix them up.

The food was really good and the bar was fun and open and spacious. Our servers were great and I loved my strawberry basil spritzer. The only thing I'll say is the restaurant was sooooo hot. Maybe the air conditioning was out, but it was hot and humid inside and we were all sweating throughout our meal. Everything else was great, though!

I came here with friends on Friday night for dinner, and it was great! I started with a dirty martini, which was tasty, and they have blue cheese olives!! We shared oysters, the loaded tots, the baked Brie, and buffalo cauliflower for appetizers. Everything was delish! For my main, I got one beef taco and one shrimp taco. The shrimp was by far my favorite and was so flavorful! The space was very open, and all of the staff were very attentive. I don't live in the area but I'll definitely be back if I am in Jersey City again!

I've been going to Greenw Hook for so many years!! It's a great place for brunch or to have lunch or dinner or to have drinks or to hang out and play darts, speedball, and board games. It has a little something for everyone. The food has also gotten even better over the years. I love just coming for a drink and getting their appetizers- they are huge and great for sharing! The service is great - usually very easy to get seated right away. They have high chairs and were able to put my stroller in the corner at the back. If your baby is learning to walk, it is pretty spacious and you can probably walk around with your baby if they get a little fussy and you can't get outside because it's a bit too cold in the winter. Everyone was super nice and understanding.

Dark and Stormy and Kona

My boyfriend and I tried this place after seeing it was apart of Hudson's restaurant week. I made a reservation via Yelp and we were quickly seated once we arrived. We both opted for the restaurant week menu which included an appetizer, entree and dessert for $35, great deal. To start I had the Paulus hook dark and stormy drink and my bf head a Kona. We started with mussels and poutine. My cocktail was good and both apps were tasty. For entrees we had the pan roasted chicken and the prime rib sandwich. My chicken was juicy but could've used a little more flavor. It also came with with egg noodles that were oddly pretty cold. The prime rib was shredded and seemed more like thin/soft brisket. It was good but could've used more flavor/maybe a slaw? We ordered another round from drinks, cherry lime soda and jc strong ass both were good/ok. The creme brûlée was good but again was missing something. The ice cream that came with the bread pudding was really good. The bread pudding was just ok. Our overall consensus was that everything was just just good/ok not great/amazing. Our food tasted home cooked, but not in the way we expected from a restaurant. Something was just missing the whole time. Our server was really nice/attentive. This seemed like a nice local place. Maybe we''d come back for a drinks/appetizers.

This was one of the only places open during New Year's Eve in Jersey City, which my group was very grateful for. I did not end up ordering a drink but rather the jalapeno mac & cheese. The portion was quite generous, but it was not very good. It felt like I was drinking fake cheese soup that had overcooked macaroni in it mixed with minced jalapeno. While the food was not good, our server was quite lovely (so +1 star), and we definitely appreciated the staff for working that night.

Soy GINGER WINGS, KALE SALAD, NACHOS

Decent bar food, we got appetizers but they were all solid I think the nachos were my favorite. Service was quick everyone was chill and it's a cool atmosphere I'd say go get a beer and try it out.

Lived the Cauliflower Buffalo appetizer it was a great start to the meal. Went with the dry rub wings and the Pork reuben. All was delicious! sat outside on a cool summer day.

Decent food, great spot for drinks. I loved the ambiance it was cozy. The restaurant was small but it didn't feel crowded. We were interested in the fried chicken. The waiter told us the "half" was a good amount for two people and it definitely was. The chicken was okay, it was cooked well but it wasn't as crispy as I thought it would be. Some parts were soggy. The sauce it came with didn't have any flavor and I love dipping my food in sauces so I was quite disappointed. The mac and cheese and biscuit were delicious though! The fish tacos were pretty good, the fish was grilled as opposed to fried in batter. I personally prefer batter fried fish in my tacos. But overall the flavor was good, a little bit spicy. The soufflé was okay if you enjoy chocolate. It was very dense and was not like a traditional soufflé. I wished it was warm and fluffy because paired with the ice cream it would have been amazing. The drinks were really good! I really liked the spritzer, it was fruity and a good size for the price. Service was fast and our waiter was nice. Note: for covid safety, the waiters did not wear masks.

I stopped by this spot with a friend to grab lunch after returning from the ferry which is nearby. The menu was great for what we wanted, and it was in a great location. The service was also good! My friend got the jalapeno mac and cheese, and a chicken burger. She said the mac and cheese was okay, but it could have been better. It was similar to boxed mac and cheese with some jalapenos thrown in. I got the shrimp po boy, and I thought it was good. I would definitely stop by this spot again if I was in the neighborhood. Overall, it was a good experience and the restaurant was clean.

Recommended by my friend Bill from CT. Tried Trish and shrimp tacos. Omg the simplicity of these tacos will confuse you. The flavors were amazing! The texture and combination of flavors was right on. So glad to stop by and tried it. Also had a few oysters and did not disappoint. Beer selections were great and chilled glass is a must which they had. Service was great. Bar tenders didn't miss a beat. You looked at them they looked at you and had your back with recommendations. I had a great time and will be back. The atmosphere was off the hook. Be on your own or with friends. You will be right at home and away enough.

I live two blocks from Greene Hook I'm surprised it took me so long to try it. Anyway, passing it by every day there are always people sitting outside and it seemed like a nice spot. Inside has a more upscale bar feel. They have a decent menu and make a good cocktail (hello aperol spritz season!). I didn't really eat much but tried some wings which were good as well. This is a good spot to share some plates and enjoy drinks while watching a game. As for finer dining, not sure.

My boyfriend and I stopped by for dinner on a Saturday night. They weren't too busy so we were seated right away. There are tables both indoors and outdoors, although there isn't heating lamps or any light outdoors (better for lunch). Given that it's a gastropub, it was pretty loud inside so it's great for a social spot but wouldn't recommend for more intimate settings. It was also fairly dim inside. We started off with oysters with were cleaned well and tasted fresh (didn't expect less than that since it was $3 a piece). As for our entrée, we got the fish and chips, seared salmon, and a side of sautéed kale (gotta get those greens in!). The fish were chunky pieces and pretty meaty but I didn't like that it wasn't crispy enough on the outside. The batter was also a bit thick so they probably should have double-fried it. The fries were thin and crispy while not overly salty so I liked those! The salmon was cooked perfectly but I wish that they had put it skin side up which could have made it crispier. It came with rice and beans which were surprisingly flavorful and different that what I'm used to. I also really like the bok choy that it came with. It was charred perfectly. The kale was simple, cooked in garlic but I enjoyed that it was simple. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here. The food was pretty good and the staff was polite throughout the meal. Definitely come for a casual meal with friends.

Tucked into the Financial District, this spot blends old New York history with some of the best cocktails in the city--and it's easy to see why it's been named "World's Best Bar" more than once. The name itself has a wild backstory, inspired by a notorious 19th-century Irish-American gang from Five Points. It adds a layer of character to the place, but what really keeps people coming back is the atmosphere and the drinks. The space is split into two levels: a two lively, sawdust-floored Taprooms downstairs and a more refined Parlor upstairs if you're in the mood for a quieter, cocktail-focused experience. Drinks are the real highlight here. The Irish Coffee is widely considered one of the best in the world--rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced with whiskey, coffee, and fresh cream. They also get creative with variations like a frozen version and even an Irish Coffee martini. If you want something different, the "Act Naturally" is a standout, mixing Irish whiskey with Guinness and fig in a way that works. Food is just as impressive for a bar. The lobster deviled eggs (topped with caviar) are a must-try, and the menu leans into elevated comfort food. Overall, The Dead Rabbit nails the balance between historic charm and modern cocktail excellence. The D.R. is one of those places that is never boring and consistently delivers.

We wanted to have after-dinner cocktails in a chill space, so we searched on our phones & saw Paradise Lost address via Google. We proceeded to walk down & was unable to find the establishment due to their being no front sign. After walking back & forth a few times, we saw another group walking towards the door & they confirmed the place. We walked inside the front door pressed a "doorbell" & lo & behold we gained entry after the previous group went inside. Definitely an incognito entrance. Once inside that door there is someone to greet you, & take your information. There is a forest/ grass/ jungle-looking foyer/ hallway we walked down to get to the next door. Before we knew it, we were near the "Paradise Lost No Vacancy" neon sign w/ an arrow pointing towards the snake-shaped knob door. It gets opened & a supercool speakeasy awaits.... Paradise Lost also have an intimate selection of snacks/ food menu items. This included Popcorn, Tater Tots, Devilled Eggs Rangoon Dip, etc. We ordered some cocktails served in unique tiki mugs & a bucket of popcorn to munch on w/ our drinks. The popcorn is flavored w/ Sea Buckthorn & Browm Butter, which gave it an special flavor profile. Our cocktails were well-prepared & nice & strong. Paradise Lost has individual unisex bathroom stalls & a communal vanity & sink area. The bathroom stalls have spooky voices coming from a speaker as you use the bathroom. I was so humorously taken aback, it had me laughing when I came out...Definitely a different thing to experience in the bathroom - lol. The speakeasy vibe and the dark ambiance really makes this place feel even more exclusive. With just a few tables and the bar setting, you're in for an experience you won't forget (unless you answer the wrong questions and really end up with a drink you don't like HA). This wasn't my case. Of course I described my two favorite things: Negroni + mezcal. The obvious answer would be a mezcal Negroni, but that's not why one comes to a place like Attaboy. Our amazing curator came by to ask us all a few questions, write down a few words in the napkins, and mix up the perfect drink that our master bartender crafts, curates and creates. My drink came as I couldn't possibly imagine. It looked like a Negroni smelled like Oaxaca, with all the smoke simmering up and preparing my sensory experience, leading to the best first sip.
