With CountyCat up and running, I can reserve books from home and be in and out of the library in just a few minutes. It was renamed in 1984 to honor the late Congressman Clement J. Zablocki who represented the area in the United States House of Representatives for more than three decades from 1948 to 1983. It's always been very a heavily used resource in the Jackson Park neighborhood, as there are several schools within walking distance. For a small neighborhood library, this one kicks ass. I studied here all thru my Junior High School and High School years, and my parents still go here every week to load up on library books, DVDs and CDs (they are frugal, you know). They have reading groups here for kids and a great collection of periodicals. I fed my reading obsession here - that I still possess, growing up. The building itself is interesting. It's a round building, built around a center round courtyard. Very modernist, and an unusual structure for the south side of Milwaukee.

It makes me jealous that my local town's library doesn't have nearly as many offerings! I'm really grateful for this library, their inclusiveness, and the plethora of recreational activities they provide for the community.
