When in Amsterdam, SMOKE! Forget about all the cheese stores around every corner, the stands selling frites with mayo, and all pastry shops with it's various icing covered waffles. START HERE! Have a cup of coffee or tea, AND THEN go to all munchie munchie type of shops haha!
It was my first time in Amsterdam, so I had asked someone of a cool place to kick it and I was told to go here. First impression, "Wow it's official. I'm definitely not in America anymore Dorothy!" It looked kind of janky from the outside at first, but I went inside and it seemed like a typical tiny coffee shop. There were a few small tables near the entrance, with a few blazed up patrons talking (or at least trying to talk) and just lookin' happily lazy.
I inquired at the bar, and a cool cat gave me the breakdown of the place and what they provide. There's a menu that had pricing between weed or hash. Even some J's that were that mixed with tobacco. You can roll your own or buy a pre-rolled one for smoking in the shop. If you sit at the bar, you have to buy something. The folks working there seemed helpful, as I had no issue with service. As for young'ins that walked in, they definitely were stopped and carded. I believe the law is 18 and over here. Feeling comfortable with my cup of coffee, I figured why not chill with the locals; Have a cup and spark up to a pre-rolled half-n-half. Yep, I did it! When in Rome ya know!
As for the place itself, it was tiny but pretty chill. It was a little on the darker side with a few fancy lamps. A special room in the back I believe, with a flat-screen monitor up at the bar showing the latest football match. I really had no complaints here, only that I should've purchased an "all weed" J versus the half-n-half with tobacco (bleh). Would I go back here? Quite possibly, but after yelp searching there seem to be plenty of cafes to choose from. As for pricing, it seemed average. But like I said, this was my first shop. So I didn't know whom to compare to. Loved their t-shirts, but sucked that they ran out of hoodies. Overall, I thought of it as a three point five star kind of place, rounded up to a four.
