Wow wow wow. My experience here was one i'll never forget. we visited this coffee shop for the second time, just me and my boyfriend enjoying some drinks and a joint. the prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is so cozy. i actually ended up fainting in the middle of the cafe and the security guard was my savior. he was so nice and beyond helpful. he gave me sugar cubes and water and helped move me to a bench. he let me lay down until i felt comfortable to stand again. and the manager was equally as amazing, he ended up giving us a little bag of goodies for free. even though I fainted we returned twice during our trip! everyone is so great and there is no reason to not visit! read more

What is there to say that others haven't already? Great selection of loose and pre rolled. I found the prices to be about average. Delicious treats to munch on... get the hot chocolate. Warm milk with a square of local Dutch chocolate to swirl around- SO good. Be careful of all the stairs- when high, they can be a touch hard to climb but the seating upstairs is nice and spacious so it's worth the hike. My friend told me to check out this coffee shop while in Amsterdam. We were out and about when we stumbled down an alleyway and I saw it. This isn't your standard coffee shop, in Amsterdam coffee shops are not as they sound, I don't think real coffee is served here. It was very busy inside and hard to find seating, we luckily did upstairs. You have to order a drink if you stay upstairs, they have kombuchas and other drinks for a fair price. You can chill and enjoy your purchases with your friends. The vibes are cool, the pricing is reasonable, the music is great. We went to Abraxas on a Monday night and it was packed. We got some Indica that was certainly overpriced, but which tasted nice. It's a cool vibe here and the decor is rad. I'd like to see what it's like during the day or without so many tourists packed in there. They lost a star for charging for water--1 Euro for a tiny cup, come on! After we sat down and I was rolling a joint a woman we hadn't interacted with came over and forced us to buy something else besides the pricey herb we just purchased. A little much. The coolest coffeeshop, in my opinion, in Amsterdam. The vibe in here is so cool. The artwork is great. The music is awesome. The decor is very, i don't know the word to describe it, but it makes you feel like you're in a jungle or a forest. It's very busy in here, but it is SO worth the visit. Staff is friendly. They sell drinks to help with any dryness of the mouth haha. And they do have bathrooms on the lower floor. Again, awesome place. This little gem is hidden in a little alley way, away from all the attractions and tourists. If you enjoy smoking or eating edibles COME TO AMSTERDAM! That was the one thing I was very excited for. Upon arrival there is a desk that allows you to choose different kinds of strains and they will roll the joint for you, or there is another option for pre rolled joints where it's already made for you. When my best friend and I came here we sat down in the cafe area (side note: there is a smoking area and a cafè area. You CAN NOT smoke in the cafe area. You can sit in the smoking area but still order coffee and treats). This was both our first time in a weed cafe so we weren't sure what to do. The barista suggested a brownie so we ended up going for that. She had told us to half it (for beginners). She had reassured us that we wouldn't get too high, but we did. Relaxed, not too busy/stuffed with tourists, 2 levels with a lotta seats. The prices are pretty much average for the centre of Amsterdam. Last and best coffeeshop we went to in Amsterdam. This place is so chilled out and very touristy, but very mellow and reasonable at the same time. 3 floors, trippy decor, sets the scene perfectly for a wasted day in Amsterdam. Cool and friendly staff...and they actually serve coffee too. Watch out for the spiral staircase leading to the bathroom. It can potentially be the funniest 'walk' of your life as long as you don't trip. As far as Space Cakes go, your mileage may vary significantly. Such an awesome vibe in here! I stumbled across this hidden gem while cruising around Amsterdam. It's tucked away in a little alley way, so it's not easy to find. The ambiance here is so relaxing and chill, it makes you want to stay for hours and hours. The music is right on the money too. They play a mixture of really chill deep house and some reggae. They have an upstairs room with a ton of seating. Some of the other coffeeshops in Amsterdam get really crowded with minimal places to sit but i was always able to grab a seat at abraxas. They also have a merch store next door, if you're a tourist it's worth checking out. I bought a pretty sick ash tray while I was in there. I figured we should visit a coffeeshop while in Amsterdam. It made sense since I was on my summer break from grad school and no real responsibilities, and my husband was down to tag along. It was crowded but staff was friendly. The brownie edible was legit tasty, although I kinda question how much THC was in it, although my husband would disagree. I'd eat it if I bought it (minus THC) anywhere-very chocolatey and rich. Also tried a pre-rolled and it was fine. It'd been probably at least 10 years since I last tried any in under grad and I can't say I was that impressed, but I do appreciate the fact that it's regulated and you, therefore, know what you are getting so to speak. It gets smokey upstairs, obviously, but you can also go outside too. They do have a beverage menu plus a selection of loose to roll yourself. This felt a lot more welcoming than another place we went prior to this so I'd suggest if you want the "I am in Amsterdam so I visited a coffeeshop" experience, this is a fine place to go. read more

Just got back from a week in Mokum. I visited a number of coffeeshops, most not touristy but made an exception for Abraxas. Been there a number of times in the past. I took my longtime Dutch friend with me after a day of cycling in the countryside, visiting Kopjes "cat cafe" and having rijsttafel for dinner. He is an inexperienced smoker. He had smoked a couple of times in the past with no effect which is common. That night he had just two hits from a joint of Amnesia Haze that I had purchased a couple of days earlier at Katsu. (We ordered soft drinks first from the bar because it's considered polite.) Everything is going fine but he then tells me that the effects are "coming over him in waves." Next thing you know, he was having a Class A "whitey". He laid his head down on the little wooden counter by the window. I tried to comfort him and encouraged him to either have something sweet to drink or go outside and get some fresh air but he was not very responsive. When he finally lifted his head, he was white as a ghost and sweating bullets. The waitress finally saw that he was in distress. She was truly concerned. She got us to a large open window and got him something sweet to drink. It took a while but he eventually felt well enough to allow me to help him down the steep spiral staircase. He had to sit down again when we got outside. The security staff quickly realized he was having a difficult time and were VERY cool. They also got him something sweet to drink and reassured him that this kind of thing happens and not to fret. I can't thank the staff at Abraxas enough for their kind help for my Dutch buddy. Eventually, we took a walk back to Centraal Station. I stuck with him like glue to make sure he was safe. I made sure he got on the right train and didn't leave until I saw that he was in his seat and doing OK. The night was kind of a blurry memory for him. We laugh about it now and everything worked out in the end. read more

Probably the single most worst experience in Amsterdam since I moved here a few weeks ago. I stumbled upon Abraxas whilst tour guiding one of my mates around the city, vowing that I would return to chill and soak up this lovely looking coffee shop, tucked away in the alley. This past Saturday, I visited the shop with some friends, only to be treated extremely badly by one of the waitresses for I'm guessing a reaction to a really shit day she'd been having. I used my phone to call a friend, of course I had been unaware of the no phone rule. She basically shouted across the shop to extremely rudely to end the call. I had been waiting for her to serve us for around 30 minutes, other paitrons were getting served before us. When I asked if we could order, she told me she was "just busy and I must give her 2 minutes", of course, steeped in attitude. She eventually came by and took the order, and as she gave me the price, she threatened to throw me out if I use my phone again (I literally only used it once, when she shouted, I ended the call) . I mean, really? WTF! I have literally never in my life experienced that. We packed our stuff and left, I'll never return purely because of their super rude staff. Many coffee shops have cool people working at the counters, but don't expect consistent friendly service from the coffee shops here, which is ironic because you're meant be chill af working in an environment like that, not a douchebag. read more

The atmosphere is great and although it can get crowded like most of the coffee shops in Amsterdam, I still felt relaxed and not overly anxious about the amount of people. This has been my favorite coffee shop in Amsterdam thus far. A lot of the shops are dingy, smelly and old. It never made sense to me why all the coffee shops in Amsterdam have bar stools. That is not comfortable at all! This place has benches which I appreciated... Now, if I could not find a Coffee Shop with lounge chairs. This shop is clean and well maintained with two levels, and even a small outdoor area where you can smoke. They only allow cannabis smoking (no tobacco) which is probably why it feels so much nicer inside. read more
