My first time coming here, the body guard said the bar closed @ 1:30am it is currently 1:18 & we got there @1:12 We just wanted a few drinks, but to treat customers willing to pay the way the bodyguard did it just felt like there was another reason why they didn't let me in. I am not from Visalia & I am currently on a work trip. I came here in September 2017... so this review is nearly 3 years overdue but better late than never. It's rona season and I now got nothing but time. I totally forgot about this experience until now and thought I should leave a well-deserved review. My cousins and I happened to be bar hopping on this early Fall night. I used to love dive bars and this happened to be one of our stops. Typical divey place. Small town vibes. Racism in the air. Just lovely. I am usually not too bothered as I prefer to mind my business and enjoy my time. Also I was living in Fresno at the time so I am used to this ignorant behavior. One of my cousins lives in L.A. and she was not used to this subtle (not so subtle?) racism and "better than y'allllll" attitude from the locals. We went to order dranks at the bar and I thought everything was fine. Cheap prices for a strong pour. A couple of us walked over to go play pool. My L.A. cousin then came over to us visibly upset and wanted to leave. We were confused as to why and told her to let us finish our drinks first. Apparently some white whispered "white is right" in her ear as she was ordering her drink. SAY WHAT? Uhhh nah girl. Looking back, I feel bad for not leaving right away as my cousin was very upset. We stayed for maybe 10 min to finish our drinks and played a game of pool. I should have been more bothered as racism is unacceptable, but I did not take it seriously at the time. I was kind of oblivious. Also when we walked in everyone stared and someone had the caucasity to ask if someone ordered Chinese food. LOL. I legit thought they were serious but later realized they meant us. It's hard to tell what is serious vs. a joke in a room full of unseasoned chicken, missing teeth, and the aroma of butter and cigarettes. Anywho, that was my great experience at this world class establishment. Don't go here if you are even slightly ethnic. They will all stare like you're an alien. It seems like the patrons ain't never traveled more than 5 miles out of their hometown. Snide comments and remarks may also be included. It was a cool experience overall. read more

Nice mix of people. Cheap drinks and cheap pool tables add the jukebox and bam!!!!! Good times.

My sister and I walked in and the place wasn't super packed, but it wasn't empty either. We spent 10-15 minutes trying to flag down the young woman behind the bar, but we were completely ignored. Apparently she was being paid to talk to her friends and spend a lot of time on her phone showing her personal pictures and whatnot. After being ignored, we just decided to leave and go somewhere more friendly and welcoming. If I wanted to be ignored like this I would have just stayed home with my cat! I'm very disappointed because I have heard good things about this place, but after being treated like I was invisible, I have little to no interest in spending any of my time and money here. Tell your bartenders to stop "hanging out" and do their job! read more

This is your typical dive bar, and you'll experience just what you'd expect: dimly lit pool hall, Budweiser on tap, cowboys in smelly boots. Stopped in for a pint with a friend and after engaging in conversation was hushed by patrons and the bartender who were trying to watch American Idol. Promptly finished our drinks and headed to the Cellar Door to watch a live band instead. One star for entertainment value ;) read more

This bar is now my favorite! The atmosphere is very friendly, drinks are cheap, and pool is only 75 cents a game! The bartender knows what she is doing and is very fast. I went on a friday night and it was pretty crowded. The patrons at the bar range from 25 to 60..good mix. Smoking area is at the back at the bar with 2 sets of tables. Our son lives in Visalia and every trip we make to visit we always try to make at least one stop at The Green Olive. It is a local's bar and it is always nice to visit with locals. Pool tables and table sitting. But sitting at the bar is the best fun. Our favorite bartender is Bobbie. She is friendly and welcoming. This place use to be a happy bar to socialize with and joke around in but recently it seems to be a place to go in, play pool and watch out what you say. The bartender (manager) is getting very picky on the language and apparently she has no sense of humor anymore. Most of the regulars have left.... Good luck on enjoying yourself here. read more

The green olive is super solid it's a place where I go after work to drown all my agony and repressed sadness in a fresh pitcher of bud light. BOBBIE knows us when we come in and she always takes great care of us so it's something that you don't see often. Also she is very nice all the time and serves me up some Diet Coke every time before I get my drink she knows me so well it's makes me very happy that she memorized my drinking habits. That makes me feel warm and fuzzy on my insides. read more
