Bread

Green olive never disappoints. Service was nice and the restaurant was clean. We prefer the fresh bread to start and both enjoyed the gyro platter. Meat, rice and veggies were all seasoned good especially the lamb! Start salads could have had a little more lettuce & pepper. Overall, great experience!

Partially eaten Shepherd's Salad, Olives and Pickled Cabbage

Looking for a healthy lunch before hitting the zoo for the day, we happened by Green Olive and decided to give it a shot. My mom is lebanese, so I'm pretty picky about my Mediterranean meals, but EVERYTHING we tried here was delicious. I ordered the mixed grill kabobs (chose chicken and lamb) which came with a choice of soup or side salad, rice (i substituted for extra vegetables) and grilled mixed vegetables. Pictured is the shepherd's salad. I was so excited about the kabobs, I forgot to take a picture! My friend got the lamb shwarma, which looked incredible, but be aware it comes with a tahini sauce so not as 'healthy' as the kabobs. I also got a side of the pickled cabbage and olives. Not a thing I would change and look SO forward to coming back!! PS - be aware that due to road construction, parking is a mess and there is nothing in front of the restaurant. Without a state permit, you have to find street parking about a block/half block away and walk (but completely worth it!) EDIT: SO good we went back the next day!

We went to eat (on a Saturday) around 5:30 and it was dead. it had me a little worried because my bf said the food is good but I trust him. The waitress took a few minutes to come seat us but once seated, she got our drinks quickly. I ordered a lamb shwarma wrap with a Caesar salad. The salad was good, a bit peppery, and the dressing did seem a little watery but the lettuce was fresh. My wrap was so good, the lamb was tender and I loved the aoli they used as well. I wasn't too crazy about the tomatoes but it gave a nice soury crunch along with the lettuce. I'm not sure of the spice but I believe they use nutmeg for the meat because it tasted a bit cinnamony. Not a bad flavor just very specific. The actual restaurant itself is very beautiful and I love how it is decorated.

Kafta Dinner

We truly enjoyed our dinner here. It was a beautiful day so we chose to dine outside. Merrick was very friendly and provided quality service. The lentil soup wasn't the best but everything else was phenomenal! The hummus and baba ganoush were AWESOME! They also have the best falafel I've ever had! The kofta was moist and flavorful. The vegetables and the dinner were seasoned to perfection and cooked perfectly. We will definitely be back!

"tabouleh" couscous not bulgur wheat

Continents shift faster than the service we received. This was a horrible experience and NOT Mediterranean food. Another couple arrived after we had placed our order and they had almost finished their entrees and our schwarma (posted as "the special") was still no where to be seen when I finally asked for them to be boxed as we still had NOT received them. Tabouleh is green, bulgar wheat and parsley based. This was faux- bouleh, our waitress informed us Tabouleh is couscous based - bless her heart. The lentil soup was bland watered down hospital tasting soup with no lentils seen. The hummus we couldn't eat. The pita was edible, the wine was ok but we received no wine discount as advertised on Thursdays night for his wine. Do NOT eat here, do not waste your time and money!

Tabbouleh

Terrible they do not know what tabbouleh is, came out cous cous. Terrible service, lived in Middle East, this was terrible, do NOT eat here

Extra gyro meat

A coworker recommended this spot which is within walking distance of our office for Greek food. Unfortunately for him, we decided to try this spot on a day his wasn't working. He was correct in his assessment, this place is very good. I ordered the gyro platter but wasn't sure how much meat in would get with it so o ordered an extra order of meat. I would have been satisfied with the original order. The platter was plentiful and delicious. We will be back.

Feta Cheese Plate

Great Food! The Chicken Shawarma is a must try. Knowledgeable waitress. We highly recommend Green Olive!

The seating was comfortable, had tons of cushions so it was definitely a vibe. Our waitress was absolutely amazing. Came to the table the right amount of times and was pleasant as anyone can ever be. The food was on point! The gyro meat was seasoned to perfection. I opted to swap the rice out for their veggies and it was a great call. There were bell peppers, onions, tomatoes and mushrooms in there which complimented the meat perfectly. Their tzatziki is homemade and the perfect contrast to the dish. I'll definitely be back for lunch or dinner soon!

I've been a frequent diner…read moreof this place for years while I resided downtown, but now that I'm a little ways out, it's a treat to dine here, but still really enjoy their food nonetheless. I've always gone with and recommend the chicken kebab. It comes with about 4-5 pieces of grilled chicken, yellow rice, vegetables, and side of tzatziki sauce. The grilled flavor of the chicken just mixes so well with the rice, so having that clean "chicken & rice" meal while maintaining the awesome flavors. The menu is pretty diverse, despite Mediterranean being their speciality. They offer other American dishes like burgers or even pizza; never tried them though, but options are there to diversify. Right now due to Ramadan, their hours are adjusted for dining in, so they stop seating people around 7:30pm. To go orders are the only option; not a big deal for me though. I highly recommend people to try this place out if they haven't; seriously a solid 4 star dining establishment!

The owner brought me something to try that he was eating for dinner, and I don't remember what it was, but it was made with quinoa and was a bit spicy! Whatever it was, it was delicious... Since I came in by myself, and it was an "off hour," the owner spoke with me about all kinds of things going on in the restaurant and what was coming up in the future, including that they are adding Indian food! He was charming, sweet, and very nice! He really made my day! The food is delicious, and the staff are very sweet... Excellent dinner experience!

I came in a few minutes after 10:00 a.m., the time they open, and while I don't expect a restaurant to be in tip-top shape the second they open, they did not seem at all ready for the day or to accept customers. I stood at the front for a few awkward moments before asking one of the hostesses if I was supposed to seat myself, when she replied "oh no, I'll seat you", and then led me to one of the nearby tables. Somewhat grossly, the tablecloth on the table I was seated at was covered with coffee stains from previous guests, which was kind of unsettling. I then asked for a cup of coffee, and was told that there wasn't any ready, and that I would need to wait a few minutes. Again, not a huge deal, but I would expect a breakfast restaurant to have some coffee ready by the time that they open. Second, when perusing the menu, I was not particularly impressed by their "limited breakfast" options, nor anything on their regular menu. I decided to go with a simple hot dog, and substituted the offered sides with an order of French fries, which ridiculously cost me almost $4 extra. In addition, my hot dog was fine, but nothing exceptional, and definitely not better than one I could've gotten at Costco for a markedly cheaper price. The one (1) bright spot was that the fries were very good, and of higher quality than most other fries I've gotten at similar restaurants. Finally, my server was nice enough, but a little rough around the edges and not overly attentive. In addition, the ambiance was pretty basic, with nothing about it that really stuck out. All-in-all, I wouldn't be adverse to returning to DiPratos on a Saturday or Sunday to try their breakfast menu, but I won't be coming back during the week, and wouldn't really recommend that anybody else do so either.

After a few mins. we tried again. Still locked. There is a table with chairs outside, so we sat and proceeded to wait. A few minutes later, the waiter (there was only 1), told us he hadn't bothered to open the door as the chef had not arrived yet. We said it wasn't a problem as we were not in a hurry and we could spend the time having something to drink (iced tea) and perusing the menu. After the chef finally arrived and we could order, we ordered the Dolmadaki to share and two entrees that came with salads. We told the waiter that we would order dessert after dinner. The waiter eventually brought out the salads. Nothing special, but very overdressed. He then brought out the entrees. (In between his service, he spent a lot of time looking at himself and fixing his hair in a mirror on the wall in this small dining room.) My chicken souvlaki was very dry, served in large lumps that were difficult to cut. Potatoes were ok. My husbands beef kabob was flavorless, and his red lentils also lacked flavor. At this point we were still the only patrons and Andrew was the only waiter. He then came over, and asked if we were ready for the check. We informed him that we each wanted to order baklava and that he needed to make sure that our check did not include the Dolmadaki which we never received. He acted surprised that we hadn't received the appetizer, in spite of the fact that we were the only patrons and he was the only waiter. He went back to the kitchen and when he returned he told us that they only had 1 baklava as the chef didn't bake any that day. We requested our check instead. He proceeded to say that the Dolmadaki would be out shortly, at which point we informed him that we did not want them as they were to be our appetizer, not something we wanted to eat after dinner. When he finally brought the check, I needed to ask him to remove the used dinner plates so that I could deal with the check. While I was very tempted not to leave any, left a very meager 12% tip that day. Due to all of the above (and the fact that the only bathroom had an overflowing trash bin, no hand sanitizer in the dispenser, and could have used a good general cleaning) we cannot in good conscience recommend this restaurant. It was also interesting to note that when we left there were still no other patrons, but the restaurant next door was booming. Next time we'll try there.
