It's funny how it didnt snow on Christmas day but snowed 2 days later. It wasnt a white Christmas but it was one well spent in the company of my family. Last year, my friend and I visited Blue Mountain and Collingwood and went to Green Thai Mango Fusion restaurant on our 2nd day there. ----- The Breakdown: Green Thai Mango Fusion |7.5/10 | $14+ I got Spicy Beef Coco which was served at a cute Thai restaurant and the staff was friendly. The food was good I felt the curry could have been richer in taste and beef could have been more flavourful. Follow @debeats_ for more food spots outside Toronto! read more

Green Mango Tree Thai Fusion - Spicy Beef Coco - Thai Near Me - Collingwood, Ontario

We quickly determined that we couldn't secure a dinner reservation on Christmas Day any Blue Mountain Village restaurants. Four of us were starving and the alternative was to order takeout and eat in our hotel suite. Enter this venue that was offering takeout for pickup. A quick browse using their online menu and this was our selection: Mango Salad, Papaya Salad, Chicken Curry, Pineapple Fried Rice with Shrimp, Pad Thai with Shrimp, Sweet & Sour Fish Fillet, Tom Yum Noodle Soup with Seafood, and Crispy Ginger Beef. Total meal was almost $125. It was a 7 km drive to the restaurant. It was already dark out and my son and I finally located this place at the end of a strip mall; the roadside signage was missing several business signs. The storefront venue sign was not lit and the place looked closed. Anyhow, we picked up our takeout order. Overall, the meal was disappointing and maybe the chef wanted to go home or didn't want to work on Christmas Day. Brief points: un-ripened mango, un-ripened papaya, yes the pineapple fried rice was yellow but where was the fruit, fish fillet used looked/tasted like frozen fillets (...Captain Highliner?). Positives: large shrimps, crispy beef, chicken curry, white rice, did I mention large shrimps. Oh well, we were happy to have a hot meal. Merry Christmas! read more

Had the papaya salad which was ver nice and refreshing. The my partner had the green chicken curry is flavourful and not too spicy. I had the basil beef which was excellent. Love the Thai basil flavours infused in the sauce. Dessert was a very nice mango sticky rice with coconut cream. Not too sweet and lovely coconut flavour. read more

I used to order the Thai green curry from here occasionally. It was definitely decent. I should have been alerted that they changed the name to veggie curry. Basically it tastes like a cross between Thai green curry and gravy. Not a fan. I will say the veggies remained fresh and cooked nicely, as well as the tofu. I also ordered the wontons as a starter. They somehow pulled off being both flavourless and stale. I won t be ordering from here again. Sad, cause I really enjoyed it before. read more

On our way to Collingwood and spotted this place tucked in the corner of the plaza off the trail that is behind the restaurant. Timely service Flavourful selections All 4 dishes were GREAT Going to be our go to spot next visit back read more

The food was awful. Worst Thai food we have had in our life. We literally threw all of it. The pad thai was super bland, had turmeric taste. Tofus and veggies dishes were sour. Chicken curry was a disaster. Soups had too much lemon in it. Papaya Salad was ok. Only think we actually ate. read more

Went to this place tonight and first ordered the appetizer of curry puffs. Although small in size it was crispy and straight out of the fryer and had a lovely lemongrass flavour that lingered in my mouth. The papaya salad was plentiful and fresh and had basil in it which gave it a nice accent. My green curry chicken was delicious and had a lot of fresh vegetables. My partner had the Basil beef and really enjoyed it. Our dessert chosen was the mango sticky rice. It came out fresh with steam rising from it ! The mangoes were sweet and we loved the sprinkled peanuts and and warm coconut sauce. Overall, a very good experience and everything was very fresh. Spoke with the owner and she stated she had recently taken over the restaurant (from another family member). She was very courteous and attentive to us. What a enjoyable dinner. Will certainly go back when we visit Collingwood again. read more

I came to Green Mango after hearing my dad say that they had amazing food. Maybe my expectations were too high after hearing my dad rave about this place or maybe they were having an off day but I wasn't all that impressed. I ordered: mango salad, fresh shrimp rolls, chicken yellow curry, spicy chicken pad Thai and the basil beef dish The mango was not ready yet so it was crunchy and tasteless. There also wasn't enough dressing on the salad. I assumed the fresh rolls would have rice noodles in it but it was stuffed with mango instead. Had the mangoes been ripe, I bet it would've been really tasty). The chicken yellow curry and pad Thai were prbly my most favourite dishes. Savoury and good texture. Atmosphere: kind of awkward because there was no music and we could hear the kitchen staff yelling in Chinese at the back (doesn't make for very good ambience). We went in at 6pm on a Saturday and it was pretty empty (just me, my aunt and uncle, as well as one gentleman eating by himself). Service: The Asian lady who served us was very nice and brought water right away. She kept the water topped up all evening. The other Caucasian server seemed miffed whenever we asked for items so that put a damper on our experience. Overall, I prbly wouldn't come back here again, especially when there is another Thai restaurant near the North ski lifts at the village (that's where we were staying). At the end of the meal, I felt unsatisfied but at least half the dishes were very tasty! I think I had a mediocre experience because of the mangos and the one waitress so your own experience depends on what day you decide to visit. read more

This place use to be good but the last time we order from here the food was awful. I will not be ordering from here again. Very disappointed. read more

Was a bit confused coming here. Yelp had negative reviews and Trip Advisor had positive reviews. We gave it a shot and it was quite nice. The good: - very nice interior decor - very clean - very quick service - good price The bad: - Chinese owners (vs. Thai) - Not the best service, but ok - Sone dishes are a bit bland In the short time we were here, they also had a lot of takeout orders come in for pick up. Overall, a good experience. Would come back. read more

Maggie Cheng Owner In Barrie And Collingwood Read This Review Living in a resort community like Collingwood can offer patrons a great dining experience. BUT its critical that restaurants tune up the kitchen and wait service because there are dozens of other restaurants where customers can spend their restaurant dollars. We are semi-retired in the Collingwood area and we are part of the most active community of 1000+ fellow retirees who have come into this area from the GTA with tons of money to spend in restaurants and bars over the next 20-30 years . But we will not be spending it at the Green Mango Tree. Avoid this place . Owners better think about how much it costs to get a new customer. And how much they lose when unhappy reviewers share their experiences. A Bad Review Is The Worst Free Advertising! Fortunately the internet allows unhappy customers to provide warnings to others. Avoid The Green Mango Tree ! Our group of 20 friends booked a lunch in advance. The restaurant knew we were coming for lunch it was reserved and the restaurant was empty except for 3 other tables of 1 - 2 people. The absentee owners have their staff running the restaurant and that never works.Especially when you know that 20 new customers are coming for lunch in a restaurant that holds 35-40. It took 1 hour and 15 minutes for the writer and 3 of our group to get our $9.95 lunch. All 16 others had finished their food BEFORE we got our food.Plus other patrons who came in AFTER our group were served first. As mentioned by other reviewers the only thing that was MORE disappointing was the waitress and the overall service. Shannon has been waiting tables at this restaurant for 3 months apparently and she was the waitress on staff during this experience. Yes...after waiting 1.15 minutes watching all others eat their food, she told me that there were only 2 in the kitchen and I should expect that service would be slower. This was a $9.95 lunch meal not complicated. The waitress she should have taken this off the bill or waived the tea or offered free dessert , No she says "well you ate the food" bad attitude, this person is in the wrong business she should not be dealing with the public without more training. The tip reflected her lousy attitude and non existent service. FACT: THE WAITRESSES DUTY IS TO ADVOCATE FOR THE CUSTOMER NOT CHALLENGE OR INSULT THEM. SHAME ON YOU! Visited February 2017 read more

Enjoyed a late Sunday lunch here with a group of friends. Started with a Duck appetizer that we couldn't inhale fast enough it was so good. Shared a 3 mains that were all tasty. One of us has a food sensitivity and the restaurant was very accommodating to that. Service was quick and our server was quite pleasant. All the food came hot and fresh. We enjoyed it so much that we went back the next day during lunch and had a similar experience although the restaurant was busy. This time each of us ordered the lunch special and it came in good time. Definitely would go back. read more

Very bland food. Had the Pad Thai - was too salty, and probably the worst dish I had in a while. Just not worth it

Basil beef dish - about $12 - no basil taste - just like soy sauce beef, kind of salty, also it doesn't come with rice, a bowl if tiny rice is $2.25. This price is very expensive. Pad thai chicken - only few tiny pieces of chicken. About $12 read more

Coming from Ottawa where there are many great Thai restaurants, we were very disappointed with the food. The Tom yum soup was fine but everything else had an oily film to it. We had a chicken satay appetizer. The peanut sauce was surrounded by oil and the chicken didn't seem fully cooked. We had the green curry with chicken and red curry with beef. Both were very bland. The veggies were over-cooked. The menu was not a true Thai menu but rather an eclectic mix of Asian food. I would agree with a previous reviewer that this was owned by Chinese. The only reason we chose this restaurant over the other Thai restaurant in town - that one was closed and we really wanted Thai. read more

I came two years ago, it was pretty good before. This time was a huge disappoint experience. We ordered 4 dishes, none was cooked right, either no taste, too salty and too plain. There is no dish has any real Thai flavour. Just don't go there for Thai food, cause there is none. read more

Worst customer service i have ever received, we have ordered from this restaurant numerous times over the years but tonight was by far the worst service. We called to get delivery and were put on hold three times totaling our call at over 20 minutes only to be told that our order could not be done because they would not make my paitie non spicy when it has never been an issue before . read more

I don't think it is a great Thai restaurant but it is not as bad as everyone says. I think they just remodeled. For under $40 we had a nice pad Thai and an ok veggy vericelli noodle dish with some green tea. Service is slow. The only thing that bugged me was the kitchen staff yelling at each other in Thai---that needs to stop. Very annoying. read more

Big fan of this place and just noticed the rating is really low. The cuisine is a delicious mix of Thai and something special. Love the sambal noodles and spicy pad Thai. Mango salad is amazing. read more

Great Thai noodles and ginger beef ! Never disappointed by the take our meals my family and I buy multiple times each week!

Pretty good food but greasy. Service was a little slow as well

Fantastic eats. Expect to wait whether it's busy or not. Try not to get seated after a large group or make sure you have 90 minutes. The dishes look and taste amazing. I've never had any complaints about the food, just the lack of urgency from the staff. With such a small rom, it takes quite an effort to make a group of people feel ignored. read more

My parents rave about this place so I decided to try it out. I'm not sure if I caught this place on a bad night but it was practically inedible. I didn't finish anything. It was way too greasy and the sauces were off. There was zero flavour. Never again. read more

Tried this place out cause its a small town and had thai food cravings. Service was ok. Coconut chicken soup was good although could use less salt/msg. Grass noodles were super oily.. stomach ached after. padthai was soso. Definitely had better quality in this City. Keep trying though please. read more

Very slow service when we wait the server to take us to the seat even there's a lot of empty seats. Also I see the server is clumsy, she dropped the rice bowl to the young man... And then she go and grab another one.... Plus there's only one server, and the front desk lady don't serve. She just say hi to us and let us to wait that only server to lead us to the seat even she's not busy. read more

Best thai restaurant ever. It was one of my lucky days. You should try chicken noodle soup and spicy beef coco.

Bad overall experience! Only Tom Yum soup was fine. Green curry was OK. Red curry was bad! The "Yo Yo" asian waitress was full with attitude and had no manners at all. I would never never go there again. read more

Takeout orders have priority over the restaurant food. Expect to get no service and poor quality with onions on wverything

I see why the ratings were all over. They were friendly when you enter but if you ask for something a little different the friendliness is missing. On the other hand. The food was good. I was a little worried that the yellow curry would have too much of a coconut flavor. I was happy that it didn't. The chicken curry (yellow) was very good. read more

Awful food and service- this is not Thai food but Chinese food with plenty of MSG!! 2 dishes were offered as vegan options (coconut and pineapple stir fried rice) being told soy sauce is not vegan?? and everything they have is already premade with fish sauce or chicken broth, 4 of us got really sick within 30 min after we left with gastroenteritis, vomiting nausea, cramps and diarrhea the next days. I do not understand how they are still in business. read more

It's not suppose to be Chinese or Thai. It;s fusion, so yes, the dishes will be different but they are very tasty. Remember its FUSION.
