I had a late lunch today at Green Mango Express. In the early 2000s, I worked downtown in one of the office towers in the Eaton Centre and ate at the Green Mango at Yonge/Shuter A LOT (it's long gone). I conducted an enrolment seminar in Etobicoke today and was happy to come across Green Mango Express on my way home. I checked and it's part of my old Green Mango's chain. Apparently it's been there for about three years and I've never noticed. They recently got a new sign so the old sign obviously didn't jump out at me. I ordered the Chicken Curry with Jasmine Rice luncheon special ... it was a lot of food for $10 so a great deal! I'm not a big fan of veggies so focused on the chicken and carrots. The sauce was sweet and surprisingly spicy ... I liked it. I'll be back! The guy at the counter was friendly. He cooked it up fresh for me so next time I'd ask for just chicken and carrots in the sauce.

Notice the lid is oily/stained & even my bag had drippings & staining bc it's so runny oily.

Went there today for the first time wanting to get a meal with veggies, chicken and rice and they suggested I try their yellow curry meal and so I did. I have had curry before at other restaurants and usually it has coconut mixed too but this one I was in shock with when I got home... it was oil based which I have never seen. The whole bowl was mainly swimming oil.. it was superrr greasy.. I couldn't even eat it. I was so sad I had to throw it out but who can eat a bowl of oil & coloring with veggies. The yellow oil stains so easily and drips down quickly bc it's so oily/runny. It tasted awful... I regret getting this curry meal. I wish I had tried something else but now I am afraid to try anything else there after this experience. I have posted pictures of my meal to share on how oily it was..

Ginger Chicken, full of mushrooms, after requesting no mushrooms and being told Ginger Chicken doesn't have mushrooms.

Have rated 2 out of 5...we found the food really greasy (more than usual Thai) and the chicken in the Pad Thai had a layer of fat on it. Never had that before with Thai food. My husband wanted to just throw it all out. I was also annoyed that when I ordered, I asked for Ginger Chicken with no mushroom, to which they replied there are no mushrooms in ginger chicken. But upon arrival, it was full of mushrooms - see photo. My final complaint is the customer service: both on phone when placing the order and in person when picking up, they were very curt and no friendliness whatsoever. Was very disappointed in the whole experience given others had rated this place well (avg rating was over 4/5 stars). We will not be back. There are better Thai places around that will provide better food and customer service.

Green Mango used to be located just south of Yonge and Bloor many many years ago. Back in those days, this place was truly one of my top picks for quick, inexpensive, and AMAZING food! When they closed, I cried inside. Funnily enough, their old location found itself referenced in two of my recent reviews of other places that are in the same area today. In both cases, I was criticizing those two other restaurants and lamenting that Green Mango wasn't around anymore. Then I thought to myself; Is there any chance that Green Mango just moved somewhere out of my usual areas? A quick google search found that there were still a few different Restaurants owned by Green Mango and that their owner sticks to working in the Green Mango Express out west. I was overjoyed and convinced my wife to make a pilgrimage after work to try this place out! I was pleased to find the owner working right up front and more than happy to reminisce about the old days. I was a tad disappointed that I wasn't able to find my old favorite food choices as they have been updated since. That being said, the food is still really great, the servings are generous and the prices are right! Even though this place is about a 20 minute highway drive away from where we live, my wife still wants to come out again soon. :) So you might ask why I'm giving this place 4 stars if the food isn't quite as good as it used to be. Well, that's because it would have gotten a 5 if it was! 4 is still bloody good and this place deserves it!

a container of chicken and noodles

Was not amused to be the only one standing in line waiting for 2 mins for the owner to finish his video on his cell phone. We ordered two pad thai's of which there was enough chicken for only one! (Please see photo) most of the chicken that was there was really fat and inedible. We had been there awhile back and to our surprise things have changed. Customer service and food quality has gone down.

We ordered 2 cocktails to start with the tapioca dumplings and green papaya fritters. The drinks came out immediately. I had the Tincture Perfect, which was outstanding. It was the perfect mix of sweet, sour, floral and bitter. I loved it! My husband had the Unit 75 which he really enjoyed. The grapfruit bitters rounded out the sweetness of the Chambord and the sourness of the lemon. We decided to order another cocktail each just as our food arrived. I had the I Have a Lychee Secret. It was a little on the sweet side, but was very yummy. I loved the black pepper on top but didn't really taste much cilantro. My husband had La Passionista which was great. It was so well-balanced and flavourful. The dumplings were AMAZING! The butterly pea infused tapioca gave the perfect bouncy, chewy texture to the outside and the mushroom and radish centres were so tasty. Our waitress explained that they should be eaten in a lettuce cup with cilantro, mint and peanuts. YUM! Such a flavour bomb. The only thing I would have changed would be to add some sort of a spicy, salty, sour dipping sauce like a nuoc cham. The green papaya fritters were also just fantastic. They were crispy, crunchy and the dipping sauce was a little spicy and sweet. All in all, we really enjoyed our meal and would 100% return. I have already reccomended them to others.

Amazing depth of flavor. Partner got the Islamic noodles, which he thought were excellent as well, rich flavor and very well made. Would happily eat again. The only issue I had which made me knock off a star is that the glass and silverware had an odd scent, like the smell your glasses have if there's food stuck in your dishwasher filter -- if you know that scent you know what I mean. Just smelled funky and honestly the smell was ruining the taste (smell and taste are so closely linked) so I drank out of my own water bottle I had brought and grabbed a plastic fork to eat with which did solve the issue but still...less than ideal
