Everything about this place is amazing and with a location in Providence and another in Wakefield, I'm so lucky that I get to spend time in both areas. Take a step back in time at Green Line Apothecary when sodas were health tonics - what great fun this place is! I've often read in various mid-20th century reminiscences about egg creams, phosphates, and such tonics but never had a chance to try these by-gone soda fountain treats. Well, if you're in Wakefield, head on over to GLA and cool your heels at their comfy counter, admire their gorgeous tin-pressed ceiling, and watch them fulfill each order by hand. So we tried: a chocolate egg cream (very refreshing and rich), a lime rickey (also refreshing - this would be great on a hot summer day), and a chocolate phosphate (tangy and enlivening). All were thirst-quenching and revivifying after a long stroll about town and window-shopping - and fun! (The counter seating is especially conducive to striking up enjoyable casual conversations with other customers.) Their ice creams are also very good, rich and creamy - my daughters had a coffee ice cream shake and a chocolate sundae. Next time I'm going to have my benchmark fave: a chocolate ice cream soda! Horrible customer service. Wait at the counter for 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledges you. They tell you your script will be ready in 10 minutes but when you come back 45 minutes later it's still not done. Then you get "attitude." Auto-refills never work. Texting them never works. This retro soda fountain / full service pharmacy is a blast from the past, and looks like somewhere the cast of Reefer Madness would be thrilled to hang out in. Belly up to the bar, and take your pick of a variety of house made sodas, next-level ice cream (the seasonal pick for March is made with real ginger!), and even quirky vintage treats like a tangy beverage called a phosphate. Fresh whipped cream, cherries, and sprinkles are complimentary, so go all out! It was especially refreshing to see that this stuff is the real deal - no aerosol cans at the Green Line! The soda jerk, the mid-century answer to a barista, makes everything on the menu fresh to order right before your very eyes. Tris was working the bar today when we went, and the friendly, engaging interactive nature of the experience was a highlight of the visit. Prepare to be dazzled by Tris's talent for throwing the scoops of ice cream in the air and catching them in the glass cups before they can fall on the floor. A treat for the eyes as well as the stomach! So cool! They also have paper hats that are essential to any Green Line soda fountain adventure - pop one on before you sit down, and take as many selfies as you want! For our inaugural visit, my boyfriend and I kept it simple with some housemade soda and coffee milk. I opted for the Diet Cola, which was a better and cleaner tasting answer to Diet Coke served in an adorable glass, and my boyfriend's coffee milk was a masterfully fresh tasting take on the Rhode Island classic. Prices are cheap, and quality is excellent. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone, and I literally cannot wait to return! I'm upset with myself for not pics of this amazing place. Who would have thought to put a "fountain joint + pharmacy" together? This place is truly a gem. I had a vegan root beer float and it hit the spot. I bought a ton of other goodies including hand made soaps, and the cutest glass bath tub soap holders as gifts. They have toys, candies, medicine, candles. It feels like a high end hobby lobby in here. I found a ton of great stocking stuffers/Christmas gifts while satisfying my sweet tooth. It pains me to write this review. When a privately woman owned pharmacy opened on Main St., I dropped CVS as fast as I could. It seems that since Greenline's expansion, however, that my prescriptions are no longer on time or accurately auto refilled as requested. Yesterday's two day late prescription that failed to be delivered as promised has finally forced me to a more dependable prescription option. I hope the necessary improvements are made to initiate my move back to this local pharmacy, but repeated hollow apologies no longer work for me. read more

Super thankful for this independent pharmacy. I work in the area so I will fill monthly prescriptions here, and when I'm sick I will fill at the PVD location if I can. I love that the pharmacy isn't HUGE and that a pharmacist is readily available to talk about my healthcare if I have questions. They also have been able to work through some insurance snafus with me. If you're waiting for your medications, there is a great soda fountain! They also have a wide variety of over the counter remedies and a CBD section. I always enjoy coming here! read more

Great hidden gem. The store is decorated well inside with subway tiles, an old fashion working soda bar, and old repurchased drugstore furnishings like and wooden icebox, and gas pump converted into a gumball machine. Their inventory is interesting and upscale. My wife found hard to find creams. And my daughter loved the quirky toys and gadgets. The outside has an old truck with garden bed in the trailer. I was double charged for my medication. When this showed up on my credit card statemeant I called to request a refund. The person I spoke with all but called me a liar and refused to do anything. Meds are not cheap, and not everyone can afford to pay double! This was some of the most terriblue customer service i have ever experienced in my life. I will never be returning. read more

Exactly as I had hoped- so cool, like something you'd find at Disney but more authentic! My kids enjoyed their root beer float and strawberry ice cream, I had a cherry coke- sweet!- and my husband had the cherry lime Rickey. My husband was impressed that they are a real working pharmacy. This dairy-free option is now my new favorite dessert. The coconut ice cream is from Warwick Ice Cream and carries such a smooth yet sometimes textured feel with a flavor that screams full on tropical island. Paired with the contrasting coffee topping may not seem like a blend, but they morphed into something way beyond any expectation. The employees were friendly, and the amount of work that goes into prepping each drink or dessert seems so meticulous yet they make it seem effortless and second nature. A true classy barista-feel meets turn of the century "soda jerk." She knew her products and how to prep but also how to blend the best flavors. A truly fun, unique, and delicious experience. You can fill your prescriptions here, too - in true authentic 1950s soda fountain style, which were typically found in drugstores. I came here today because I follow a reviewer on Instagram called pattyj.com. she had done a review of the pharmacy/soda fountain bar a month or so ago and I finally was able to stop in. It's a local business here in wakefield that had opened up last may. It was vacation week so I took my son and he loved it especially me. All natural products on both sides of the walls, a pharmacy and in the middle is what they call a soda jerk station. I had gotten the salted caramel root beer float and my son got a small ice cream. So disappointed, pill pak should have arrived on December 8th, and even though after many calls, did not receive. Hopefully will arrive today at noon or so. But do not understand when automatic refiil, meds not rceived on time, especially cardiac and diabetic meds needed in the am each day. Living now at assisted living, it is not possible for me to just hop in the car and drive to Wakefield. I do understand the logistics involved, but that does not make it easier for me.I do hope problems will be resolved, and medications can be received in a timely fashsion. What a fun and fantastic retreat to yesterday with a visit to this apothecary/soda fountain. I took my two Texas nephews there this past week and not only were they introduced to a proper chocolate egg cream for the first time, soda jerk Tristan took time to explain to them how his research taught him how to make this unique drink. After their egg cream and root beer float, he entertained the boys with some card tricks! This place is amazing! Very retro. I have gone here a few times since they've opened to get milkshakes and products. I love the atmosphere and feel of this place, it's very unique and sought after.
