I ordered a cheeseburger, which was cooked to perfection and had a nice meaty flavor. My wife ordered a hot dog, which is kind of hard to go wrong with, but she said it was very flavorful, and my son got a cheeseburger as well and said it was very good. Ordering is at a window outside, and they call your name when your food is ready. They also offer ordering via their website for pick up. The restaurant is located at salty Brine State Beach, which is a large, sandy beach that's sheltered by rough water because of huge jetty's out in the water. If you come to the beach for the day, you can grab a quick bite when you're hungry, some ice cream when you want a snack and drinks throughout the day to keep you hydrated in the hot weather. Next to the order window are several metal tables on a large wooden deck in the open sunshine. If you'd rather sit in the shade, there's a large covered picnic area with picnic tables that overlook the channel. There's also an open area where you can setup you own chair and watch the boats in the channel. Because the restaurant is located at a state park, state workers are always coming by and sweeping, cleaning the tables and keeping the place in tip top shape. Also, because they don't want any trash ending up on the beach, there are no garbage cans nearby, and you have to bring it back to the ordering window for the staff to throw out. If you want the cheapest burger available, this isn't the place to go, but if you want a burger (or other food) that's prepared fresh, with prices similar to what you'd pay at a higher end fast food burger place, Salty's is worth a visit. The restaurant is open daily, 9AM to 5PM, closed on rainy days.

We stopped into the Vanilla Bean this afternoon with our two kids. Although the (Briggs) ice cream was decent, the prices were reasonable and the service was just fine, the place itself is a dump. From one RI business owner to another....Come on guys! Take some pride in your little piece of heaven right by our beautiful beaches. Don't just cash it in...you've gotta be making a decent living from your store, with it's perfect location at the bend in the road, no?? Your ice cream menu sign placement is rather silly - how about you put it up towards the front of your counter so that one can actually read it. Your counters, tables, chair, walls, broken screen door, broken refrigeration units, fans and vents could all use one HECK of a good cleaning and a fresh coat of paint. If you're willing to show us that, what lurks behind the scenes?? Yuck. Come on guys, it's the start of tourist season, clean up the yard and scrub the joint down, and show our visitors how great our state can be! read more

If you want a couple simple scoops of ice cream it's a little pricey, but if you get a specialty, like a brownie sundae (I recommended the Tollhouse) or banana split it's not as pricey and totally worth it. They also only take cash, can be a little inconvenient. read more

I would say the name is partially accurate, in that there is not much in the area besides some nurseries and the diner next door. Most of their ice cream comes from Gifford's, and some are New England Ice Cream and Warwick; I liked this level of transparency. I wanted to try something from Gifford's, but I couldn't say no to the Cinnamon Bun one from New England Ice Cream. My brother chose the Cashew Caramel Truffle from Warwick Ice Cream. We asked for both in a cup with a cone on top. The cutest little girl called out our order when it was ready and handed it to us through the window. The cinnamon one was amazing and tasted exactly like a cinnamon bun; it had cinnamon, the base tasted like the frosting with hints of condensed milk, and it had chunks of dough throughout. The caramel truffle was also very good. It is easy an on and easy off from the main road.

They don't have vast amount of different types but enough variety to satisfy anybody except those looking for something very unusual. There aren't many things better in life than sitting in a beautiful spot over looking the ocean and devouring great ice cream. Even though it was hoter than hell when we were on the island, a cool breeze was coming off the water and combined with the richness and algidity of the great ice cream the world was a perfect place. They have a cornhole set up, so while we waited for our order to come out and after eating, we played some rounds. They also have about 3-4 tables with umbrellas to peacefully eat your ice cream. The smores had a graham cracker base and it indeed tasted a lot like graham cracker but without the dry and crumbly texture. It also had lot of chocolate chunks and some soft marshmallow swirls. The cannoli tasted a lot like the filling of a cannoli, so a less sweet frosting with chunks of the cannoli roll. We liked both. The menu was extensive with lots of creative and appealing flavors.
