Because there was an obvious "unknown" as to the scope of work the quote was provided in tiers that identified clear thresholds that "if" we have to do this "then" we're into this tier of expense. To my absolute amazement, he did NOT make it to the top tier. That's honesty right there! The quote itself was extremely detailed and allowed us to clearly understand the work, the expense and provided the opportunity to adjust as necessary. Clayton shared he was in the United State Marine Corps which explains the detail provided, honesty and absolutely NO nonsense approach with his crew and/or contractors. During the work Clayton stayed in constant contact keep me informed as what the plans were for the following days, who should be accessing the back yard to work on the project and when the rains came (and the rains did come) he identified in advance when the crew would not be present. Bottom line, 100% satisfaction with MRZ Contracting. Look at the reviews here in Yelp...5 stars for more than a couple dozen reviews and for a contractor never-the-less. That surely puts MRZ Contracting in elite company in the real work and when considering them for your work I would strong recommend you at least obtain a quote from them and let the chips fall where they may after that.

I asked them to remove several sick shrubs, design and install new shrubbery and an irrigation system, and put down new sod on most of my yard. They kept me informed about scheduling and worked quickly. All of their employees were professional, friendly, and eager to please. There work was great. They even came back after final payment to adjust my irrigation timer and add some additional sod at no cost. I highly recommend them.

The final straw was receiving a text message at 1:30 AM on a Friday saying the installation scheduled for that day would be pushed back another week. At that point, I informed him I was no longer comfortable moving forward and decided to hire another vendor, even though they were significantly more expensive. I clearly asked Matthew not to deposit the down payment check since we would not be proceeding with the project. Despite that request, the check was deposited anyway. They covered everything, the drainage, the install, stump grinding and the sprinklers. It was really helpful ..I just wanted to get rid of mud with some grass. I am writing the review now because my husband and I agreed we would wait until we moved because he's so unhinged, and we were scared that he would retaliate if he knew where we lived. We had to call the police just to put this on record in case anything happened to our property because he kept texting me and calling/texting my husband. He even started calling and texting my husband at 12 am. He then went on to tell my husband he doesn't wear any pants in the relationship and shouldn't allow me to make any decisions. Read on... James had one of his workers take down the tree. The deal was to include grinding the stump down. The guy didn't do that, and the issue remained unresolved for quite some time. Finally, the guy came back and grinded the stump (not completely, but we didn't complain). The problem is, he left the grinded portions all over the yard in a giant mound. I spent time bagging it all up myself. Our regular lawn guy came around and charged us $80 to bag the rest. We informed James we would deduct the $80 from the total or he could complete other work to receive the remainder. He didn't like that. Crazy thing is, we have several mutual friends from high school somehow. My friends are quite normal, so I'm not sure who would hang out with someone like him. Check out these insane text messages where he wants to bring me on his boat, insults my character and my husband. These are only the ones he sent me. He also sent my husband insane texts. Oh, and he responds to the negative reviews with such venom. Make sure to check out his Google reviews. They are WILD!
