I used to love Green Ghost but the food has gone way down hill. Portion size shrinking, price increasing, and quality decreasing. I've eaten it for years but after this last time I'm done. Very disappointed. Tacos and the queso fundido were both garbage. I ordered it to go and got a box with all my tacos thrown in it spilled all over the place and all mixed up. Unfortunately I didn't look at my food until getting home or I wouldn't have left the store with it. Management needs to step in fast as I've heard several other people that have had similar experiences recently. Sorely disappointed. read more

I went during happy hour and the drinks were great! I ordered a torta with Al pastor and it was barely any meat on it. Also, I did ask for fries and only received about 6 on my plate. Since opening the new location the food and service is top notch. My favorite order is the enchiladas plate with black beans and rice.

For years I had been coming here for the carne asada fries. It had always come in the normal sized take out boxes every resturant uses. However at the end of 2022 they suddenly shifted to a box half the size but kept the price the same. I wouldnt even have been mad about that if they had done it for food cost reasons and said as much, however the lady at the counter claims that for years it has been that size. Be aware that anyone who lies about small things like the portion size will also lie about the big things like how clean the place is or how fresh your food is. read more

The birria tacos are not actually birria tacos that most taco spots make. They're prepared with "birria" meat but not actually cooked and crunchy. The location in Fondren prepares theirs much better. However, the beef tacos were prepared nicely. read more

I've eaten here several times. The service that I just received today could have been way better. About 10 minutes after I placed my to-go order (4 tacos), 2 more customers come in for dine-in. At the 30 minute mark, those customers received their food but I was still waiting. I had to ask how much longer, and was told 5 more minutes. That's ridiculous. I wish I could have taken my tip back. It will be a long time if I ever go back there. Not to mention a worker's food was prepared before mine as well. I ordered the redfish tacos recently via a food delivery app. The food arrived timely and fresh; kudos to both the app and Green Ghost Tacos! However, the taco itself MUST have been catfish not redfish. It was very distinctive in flavor which is indeed a trait of redfish but NOTHING like catfish which is very earthy in flavor. Food was ok. Portion sizes were small for tacos and elotes. Yes, they are street tacos but for 2.99 they should have more meat. Street tacos generally are 1.00-2.50 and overstuffed with meat. Only specialty street tacos are 2.99+ and they are also overstuffed with meat. These are just regular street tacos so they should be cheaper. Service was awesome. I had the fish taco, marinated pork taco and elotes. For starters, their prices were very high and the portion size was small. That being said I feel I didn't get a value for my money. The pork taco was lukewarm but very well flavored. Had it been hotter, I would have enjoyed it more. The fish taco was bland. The elotes were ok, but the portion size was ridiculously small. I'm used to my tacos being over stuffed and amazingly seasoned. I was underwhelmed. The saving grace was the service. They are super friendly and you can tell it's family run. Authentic Mexican place I wanted to like, but it was really just ok. Got the 4 tacos plate, guacamole and chips, and a regular churro. On the tacos I had 1 shrimp, 1 chorizo, 1 pastor, and 1 steak. The chorizo was best, but all were dry. The steak was especially tough and none were super flavorful either. Tried to help them with some lime, but the limes were all dried out. Green Ghost is my favorite place for Mexican food. The authenticity reminds me of Hispanic food that I've enjoyed while living on the West coast. We were sat promptly and the waitstaff was very accommodating and checked in on us at the right times. I had the FOUR TACOS - 2 chicken, 2 steak with with rice and beans. My guest had TWO ENCHILADAS with rice and beans. All of our food was made-to-order and tasted fresh. Rice and beans were hot and not mushed or stuck together like they were sitting in a pan in a steam table. The chicken and steak were nicely grilled on there flattop and was paired with just the right amount of cilantro. We ate every bite!
