Everyone knows that dreaded *smash!* as their phone hits the ground. "Here we go again...time for another new phone." Or so I thought. An hour later I am writing this review from what looks like a brand new iPhone thanks to Green Earth Computers. This was the first time I have ever had an experience repairing my phone or computer that didn't leave me frustrated, totally broke and without my device for days (or weeks). The customer service and prices at this place cannot be beat. Derek, the technician on duty, was very knowledgeable and friendly. I am very impressed and will be sure to return for all of my (inevitable) computer and phone repairs. They responded right away to my initial Yelp message, saying that they didn't have the screen in stock, and to come in to set up an account and they would order it. I went during their business hours (posted online & on the door). They were not there. I called and left several messages. Outgoing message restated the same business hours. Several weeks later, and I have not heard from them. read more

Took my hard drive to transfer data to a refurbished computer on Wednesday. Technician told me 3-5 business days then return for on-site visit to set up etc. Return visit set up for today Thursday 1/16 at 4pm after I rearranged my schedule to accommodate them. Already 6 business days post pickup. At 11am they called me to say technician was ill so no go for today. Also no on-site appointments on Friday. Monday a holiday. I work Tuesday and they have no credibility on appointments. So next available appointment is next Wednesday - 2 full weeks after pickup. I have been using them for years but based on this unacceptable level of customer service, I am finished! DO NOT RECOMMEND in any way! To further demonstrate poor customer service. I called them to tell them I would pick up computer and asked for the account balance. They quoted me a figure of $489, which I paid when I picked up computer. Ninety minutes later they charged me another $100 for the tech visit from 8 days ago. Shouldn't that have been included in the original quote??? This business does not have its act together. I had them install a new screen on my my iPhone and a new battery in my MacBook Air. I arranged for the time, and they did both jobs perfectly in one hour, for a good price. I listened to live music outside by the nearby Iconica Social Club while I waited. A perfect Noho experience. They were professional, informative, and easy to talk to both on the phone and in person. When I noticed a crack on my cellphone screen, I called the usual places listed on Google. There were several close by, but none with open appointments in the next week. When I called one, they were very polite but said they would need to keep the phone for at least three days. So, I went looking a bit further and found Green Earth Computers, a small shop right under my nose. They were great! The price for repair was slightly less than the big name places and though it was possible they would need to keep it overnight, same day repair was more their norm. With the lockbox drop-off and retrieval, it was simple and COVID-19 safe. Turns out it was only my glass screen protector that was cracked, but they repaired that and refuned the balance of my payment. I would highly recommend this store for all your computer, phone, etc. need. read more

I was told on the phone that replacing a screen would take an hour. 45 minutes later at the shop, I was told that because there was only one person there that day, it would take two hours. Two hours later, I picked up my phone. The new screen looked great. But the next morning, I discovered that my phone had not charged even after being plugged in all night. It had worked perfectly, except for the broken screen, before entering the shop. So I had to make another trip to the shop, where they worked on it all day and couldn't fix it. They also would not admit they broke it, even though they obviously had. I was refunded my money for the new screen, but had to wait overnight, phoneless, so they could take the new screen off and replace it with the old broken one (which was now even more broken). So after six wasted hours and five trips to Northampton, I now had a phone with a broken screen AND a dead battery. So I guess be smarter than me and ask beforehand what happens if they break your phone while trying to fix it. read more

Green Earth Computers was recommended to me by a friend when my computer was damaged by spilled coffee. The staff are professional and honest. While my laptop could not be saved, they were able to save the hard drive. I did go back to the 'Big Box' store to look at a new laptop, and after being told numerous lies about what I needed, I went right back to Green Earth and got a refurbished Dell at a affordable price (much more so than at the Big Box store) with no grief and aggravation, but with terrific customer service. These people are the best! Twice they've worked with me on small laptop problems and both times didn't charge me. The second time was to try to connect a bluetooth speaker to an HP laptop, the tech spent almost an hour working on it, and he fixed it! And then didn't charge me! Highly recommended! I brought my iPhone SE to them because it wasn't charging anymore. I'd done some self-troubleshooting and was convinced the charging port needed replacing. They took it into the back room immediately and within a few minutes came back ... the phone was fixed! Apparently the port was filled with lint and such ... I'd tried cleaning it myself previously but with no good results. Thank you to their technicians for they quick and fast resolution. This non-charging has been causing me stress all week. Even tho Green Earth has changed location, the people, and the high quality of services remain. I've bought several products from them, and they have always stood by with support and advice with each and every purchase. They are friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. They have expanded the service staff, but retain the personal attention that you've come to expect from them. The new location is centrally located, and has a nice retail section with many common peripherals. (I picked up a wireless laser mouse on my last visit for a very competitive price.) My son's iPod Touch ceased to operate recently, and rather than take it to Apple to fix or replace, I brought it to Green Earth Computer's new location in downtown Northampton. For the extremely reasonable fee of $60.00, Green Earth quickly repaired the iPod Touch. Fast, accurate and reasonable -- what else can you ask? When my office printer, an older but still spritely HP, began to have difficulties, Ed Drummond from GEC came and fixed it and my other printer, same trip, same reasonable fee. In addition, I have purchased a new Dell desktop and a refurbished Dell laptop through GEC and am happy with both items -- it helps to get advice on what level of technology to purchase from a company that knows my business and computer requirements. I called this business to see if they could repair my slightly cracked, still operational Apple Ipad Pro. They said I would have to bring it to them for an inspection, to see if it was able to be repaired by them. I brought it to them, they turned it on, took down the serial number from the settings screen, went in the back, and came back with a 300.00 dollar repair estimate. They said it would take a couple of days to get the new glass, they would call me when it came in and I was to bring my tablet back, when the new glass came in. A week later, they called and said the part was in...I brought them the tablet, thinking I would wait for the glass to be installed...willing to wait up to 90 minutes...as previously promised...upon getting there, they told me I would have to leave it overnight, so that the glue would have time to dry after installing the new screen...the next day they sent me an email, telling me that upon trying to remove the glass, some connection came apart, damage that they caused, shorted out the motherboard... and it would no longer power up...all data on it was lost...If I wanted, I could send it to Apple to try to recover the data, which at a minimum would cost me 600.00, for a diagnosis...they also offered to find one on Ebay or some other site for around 379.00 at my cost, that was similar to my Ipad pro...granted it was about four years old, they were not willing to reimburse me for damages caused by them...the reason they wanted to see it was to determine it the case was damaged and whether or not it powered up...they explained that they would not charge the repair fee, if I just took it and left...they could get their money back on the new screen that they had to order for 89.00, from whoever they purchased it from...so, in a nutshell...they took my fully operational tablet, with a slightly cracked screen and turned it into an inoperable piece of junk!!! They said they would not charge the repair fee, for the inconvenience...what repair fee...they didn't fix anything!!! I am a 72 year old elderly woman, who they took advantage of...My advice to you is stay as far away as you can from these so called professionals!!! They claim its in the damage waiver, that they have you sign, prior to repair. So, I now have a tablet in a plastic bag, with a really broken glass, which has many pieces missing, that I can now use as a 1500.00 paperweight!!!!!! First of all they never returned messages that I left. Secondly, I dropped off two iPads that needed screen repairs. Both took much longer than they had quoted. Both iPads not malfunction because the screen replacement was done incorrectly or caused internal damage. Please don't go here. read more

They broke my iPhone 7! There was nothing wrong with my phone except a small crack on the screen. I asked them to replace the screen... that's all. When I picked up the phone Dyrek (the technician) said he was working on a problem with the front facing camera (it was green). The issues got even worse when they tried to replace the camera. Kiernen, the owner, then got involved. After 10 days of either working on the phone or ordering new parts they gave up. I got my phone back with the original cracked screen reinstalled, a green front facing camera, a broken home button, couldn't make a phone call, all my settings were reset, and God only knows what else. Kiernen gave me my money back (big deal), and then preceded to tell me how I could save money getting the phone fixed at an Apple store. I felt like he gutted my phone, and then try to provide customer service by being perky & friendly. This customer wasn't buying his crap! read more

I can usually fix a lot of things so i held out for a while before calling someone for help with my internet problems. You call Comcast and they blame Apple, you call Apple and they blame Comcast so I called Green Earth as a third party. I brought my Lenovo Yoga in because the computer was repeatedly having "blue screen" errors, and was freezing occasionally. They completed the service in about three days and told me that they hadn't found any issues, but that they "cleaned it up" and thought that would do the trick. However, when I brought the computer home I almost immediately had two blue screen errors in a row. The computer was running faster, so it seems the clean-up worked. I brought it back, and they said they would give it a "stress test," found nothing wrong, and gave it back to me. Again, when I brought it home I started getting the blue screens again. The second time it happened, I realized there was an error code that appeared briefly before the computer shut down, so I wrote it down and did some research. I returned it a third time and told them I thought it was the graphics card. He did fix it quickly, then. I was disappointed that they didn't check the graphics card the first time. It was very inconvenient to have to bring it back twice. I don't think I'll be using Green Earth again. read more

Brought a laptop in to get serviced in early October. After a free diagnosis I decided to go ahead with the the recommended motherboard repair which would take no less than 3 weeks (apparently). Around the expected return date I received no update/communication from the business after a few emails and calls. The next week (now 4+ days late) I found out it was being shipped out and would be there by that weekend, which would make it just over a week late. When it didn't arrive that weekend I assumed they strapped it to a mule and were walking it across the country. I received The laptop today, officially 12 days late (Originally due back November 4th) and although everything seems fine, I cannot get over the delay and fact that I still was asked to pay near full price. After requesting a discount for terrible estimation of delivery and service. I was given an astounding amount of $5 off the price of my total (Less than 4%). Sure it could have been a problem with UPS, but I would expect much better knowledge of where the laptop is and a much better discount than what was given for a service being done 12 days past due. Dealing with no laptop in college is a pain, and this made the aggravation 100x worse. I will not do business with again, I am giving 2 stars because Kiernan was a very nice guy in person. In any similar situation I would expect the business to accept responsibility for the delay and not blame it on UPS, I did not conduct business with UPS, I conducted business with Green Earth computers their inept service department across the country. read more

This is the best computer repair place I've ever been, including in Washington DC where I lived for 40 years before moving to the Valley in 2016. Over the past couple of weeks I've brought a malfunctioning MacBook and IPhone into Green Earth, and both times they fixed it within minutes and didn't charge me a penny. I pressed them to take something, but they wouldn't. I'll certainly bring all future problems to Green Earth as opposed to the other place in town. When I brought my computer to this place last year it was running slow and seemed to have trouble locking up on occasion. We also told them it would always want to update but never did. They replaced the hard drive charged us $200 and said we were good to go... The computer ran better but still didn't seem right. We were way too busy with other family issues and never had time to persue the issue. Now we have moved south and found a local place to fix all our issues. Apparently Green Earth was so busy with so many computer repairs they forgot to replace all the screws in our computer, there was Malware so bad they had to wipe out everything and start from scratch. I feel as if were were ripped off by Green Earth and I would never recommend them to anyone. They "band aid" fixed my computer when I asked for a complete fix. They are making customers feel as if they care but ultimately they are just there to get you in and out without making it a long term solution as they promised. Not worth the $$!! Went in on New Year's Eve to get a screen replacement because my phone fell out of my pocket and my screen shattered. The store was going to close in 20-25 mins and the guy refused to replace my screen because, "they were closing soon". I went somewhere else to replace my screen and it took 15 minutes, plenty of time for the guy to have replaced the screen before closing. I am never returning to this location ever again, and don't recommend them to any one else for their poor customer service. read more

Great service. Attendant. I got a great refurbished Dell Latitude laptop there for a reasonable price and they loaded it up for me, and moved over all my files in just a couple of days. The laptop works fabulous - fast and efficient. They specialize in offering lower cost app and software options. They are very cost conscious which I appreciate as a consumer. I think they are probably competent but their on-line quote is not reliable. In fact when I got to the store they gave me another quote which was more than double what they first told me. Then he said if he didn't have to do the second thing it would be less. When I picked up my phone they did not have to do the second thing but then wanted to charge me almost double the first quote. So be careful with this, stand up for yourself and don't rely on their on-line quote. read more
