I've used Greendrop for years but not any more! Last week they sent an email 'sorry missed pickup' please reschedule. So I rescheduled for today and received the same email. Called, and the agent said they couldn't pick up because I have a driveway more than two car lengths long. They've never parked in the driveway. They park on the street and walk down with a handcart. No one parks in the street here, so there's plenty of room for their truck, but apparantly the drivers can't walk more than two car lengths to do pickups. Switching to PickUp Please. What do they do in the city where they probably have to park a block a way. Bad business model, and poor thinking skills. Serious issues with picking up donations. I had my stuff out there before 7am and received an email stating issue with driver (s) and rescheduled me for next Monday. Canceled and contacted Salvation Army (SA). I know SA will pick up as scheduled! Stay away from Green Drop unless you like taking it to their drop off. We placed the bed frame at the curb the night before the scheduled pick up. The bed frame is in four pieces, each can easily be lifted onto a truck by one person, man or woman. Several signs were placed on the item so that it would be impossible for Green Drop to miss. On the day of the pickup, I received an email, "Sorry we missed you", followed by "We were unable to pick up your donations on Wednesday, March 18. Please schedule another date that works best for you". Which is it...did they "miss" us or were they "unable" to pick it up? I contacted their customer service who said that the tablet used by the driver to include notes regarding the pickup was not working. The customer service agent indicated that the driver was at the location at 8:15 AM. So they did not "miss" us. Yet, their email asks us to reschedule. Why would they ask us to reschedule if they stopped by already? If they believed the item was too heavy (which it wasn't), the item will not morph into something lighter. The whole experience seems fishy. I am hoping to find another way to donate it. It's a nice wooden bed frame that someone would like. read more

Green Drop Brookhaven, PA Unreliable!! First week they cancelled. Today they took 1 bag out of 26 even though it was marked and they rescheduled the pickup! The boxes and bags were under a labeled tarp in my driveway to keep it from the rain and was visible. Everything was labeled and they left the donations all but 1 bag!! UNBELIEVABLE! Horrible. I have donated thousands of dollars worth of goods to this company over the years. Used to be fine. But the last several years it has been awful. Now they will only pick up if it's at the end of the driveway which we have had thieves take before the truck gets there. This last time they sent the "sorry we missed you" when the large stack of items were labeled and in plain sight on my driveway. I phoned and they claimed that they can't enter a driveway due to "liability". So I hauled all of it onto the edge of the street and stood there waiting for an hour. This is after they cancelled my pick up and "rescheduled" it after hauling all the stuff out and back in again. I don't think their drivers care about our donations. Clearly they care about their "for profit business" and not the charities they claim to serve. From now on I am going to donate directly to my charity. Don't let them turn your spirit of giving into an exercise in frustration. read more

Unreliable, don't follow simple instructions, and lack quality customer service. I gave detail instructions more than once on how to enter my gated community. In addition there's a sign which directs guests to the proper gate which is a mere few feet away. Still the driver couldn't get it right. They got it wrong on two separate visits. So frustrating. GreenDrop Porch Pirates They showed up to pickup a charitabdonation at my daughter's home. She happened to also have groceries delivered from Whole Foods in stapled close Whole Food bags. After taking donations the GreenDrop employee came back and gathered up all Whole Foods bags. Daughter complained and said GreenDrop employee would return groceries. Welll they did hours later but groceries were smashed, box of spaghetti opened and dumped in bag (how does that happen), fruit and yogurts smashed, nothing left to use without any concern for tampering. Waiting to see how this gets settled. Fortunately Ring camera video. Which GreenDrop wasn't interested in. Use GreenDrop at your own risk. read more

I just had a great experience with Green Drop. I see so many negative reviews. Scheduling was easy with a very nice staff. Had boxes out at 7:00 a.m. Pickup 9:00 a.m. Very nice driver. Someone had taken 1/2 of what I wanted to donate. I told driver so sorry. Very understanding and appreciated what he did pickup. read more

Be careful with this for profit company. By coincidence a package was delivered while I was away and placed near open boxes and bags labeled for green drop. The green drop driver couldn't tell the difference between an unopened package and open boxes and bags and took everything. I notified green drop within an hour but they "couldn't find" my unopened package and offered no remedy. Perhaps it is helping boost their profits. Since you can't always control timing of deliveries, lesson is don't place green drop pick up near where you normally have packages dropped off. read more

Had a large donation on my front porch. Saw on Ring that one person walked up to the porch, took one box and left the rest of the boxes behind. All were sealed up and labeled. Called and complained they only took one box. All boxes were taped up and labeled as donations. Said they would tell the truck to come back which they never did. What is the point if they don't take your donations? If they don't want the nice stuff, I will donate elsewhere. Not sure what the problem was. Perhaps too many for them to take. I would give them a zero if I could. Our house was going on the market for sale so we put together donation. They never showed up. First they told me driver said nothing was out. Then they called back & Saud driver got lost. Offered to come back in 2 weeks. House would be up for sale before then. I ended up having to pay a junk removal company. All those items probably needed by people in unfortunate situations got nothing. The lying & refusal to make it right is unacceptable. They're not a charity to help people! Shame on them read more

I would rate this company zero stars if I could. They NEVER SHOWED UP, communicated poorly and made the process especially difficult and inconvenient! AVOID THIS COMPANY! We scheduled our pick up well in advance, carefully confirmed all details, followed all their directions including labeling our items with a giant sign, providing only approved items in good condition, giving careful delivery instructions and ensuring that they had the correct address and phone. We had to arrive to work at 6am to be sure all items were out before the 7am pick up time -- they will not give a more precise window than 7am to 7pm. When they didn't show up at all and didn't communicate any issues, they said the only thing we could do would be to re-book for a MONTH from now. They will not give the driver a phone number and will not call if they have any kind of problem. They didn't care at all that they didn't show up, and tried to find a reason why it could have been our fault, suggesting that perhaps we gave incorrect driving directions (we gave precise directions) or didn't label our items (our sign was 22 x 28 inches with giant red letters on it). They even went so far as to say that they don't need to do a pick up if EVERY SINGLE box and container doesn't have an individual label on it, which is not at all what it says on their website. This seems like a scam, avoid at all costs. read more

They need to take the pickup website down. It's a joke. I was cleaning out my closets and had four moving side boxes that I put outside this morning. I called dispatch and was told that they came by right about 7:00 this morning. I know that I didn't miss them coming because my husband leaves out for work by 6:00 am. So, there is no way that they came by. Time is precious, I spent time folding the closes, ensuring that they were clean and setting them out for pickup. I didn't read the reviews prior to using this service, but I now see that I'm not the only one with such a negative experience. When it comes to donating my stuff, I usually go to some thrift store in the area. But when I was looking up donation centers near me and read the reviews on Green Drop, I had to check it out. It's a noticibly small building off Route 1 and I like the fact that I don't have to get out of my car as I'm bringing my donations. As one guy comes around to take away my box of stuff, another guy takes down my info as it was my first time donating at this location. I can even choose which charity to support, of which your donations are turned into critical funds to support either the American Red Cross, the Military Order of the Purple Heart, or the National Federation of the Blind. Additionally, according to their website, if you're unable to make it during their hours of operation, they also offer pickup at any time and place you provide. The ease, simplicity, and efficiency of this donation center makes it one of the best places to bring my unwanted items. I highly recommend! read more

I had to schedule this three weeks out. Confirmed. Had my items out and marked prior to 0700. The instructions said they could come anytime before 1900. Confirmed the day before by phone. The email the day before would only allow me to cancel, not confirm. Well, no one showed up, called, emailed or anything to let us know what was or wasnot going on. So when I called at 1900 to find out...whoops, their office is closed until 0900 the next day. Called this morning and apparently, the tablet (technology) the drivers used failed. And the next time they are in this area (IF THEY SHOW UP) is another week. Yeah, I would strongly recommend against using Greendrop for ANY type of donation. Especially given that Greendrop is a for profit organization. It makes both them AND Purple Heart look very bad. I have not used their drop off center so I cannot speak to that. read more

You are better off just dumping it in landfill. Sorry, but that is how I feel about this. I am disabled and do not drive, so I thought this would be a great opportunity to donate some used dishes and clothing to green drop to vets that could also be disabled. I thought these guys would be better than Salvation Army (who don't even attempt to come to your house and just cancel the request). Nope. They left most of the stuff behind and took ONE bag. Dishes in a container so they can carry it without breaking, nice folding ladder, folded up so they can, again, carry it. It is companies like these that un-nerve me. They would rather see money so they can pocket most for themselves than actually be "charitable" So, out in the trash it goes with hopes that some homeless person rummages through it. read more

I've used Greendrop for years with no pick up issues. I'm not sure what happened to the service but it's gone downhill. I scheduled a pick up for 10/4/24 and they didn't show up. I emailed Greendrop to inform them about the no show, they told me to reschedule. I scheduled for 10/11/24 and again they didnt show up, after I was guaranteed that they will show up. I scheduled a pickup. They came earlier than expected- but did not even stop at my house. They slowly rolled by as I was putting out my stuff and drove right off. They never even came to a complete stop, nor did they have the courtesy to call or text. My stuff was all right there, ready to go by the front door. I used them once before covid and did no have a problem. Recommended them to family moving out of state, no problem. BUT, the last month when I called to schedule a pick up it was error upon error on their part three times. In and out with 30 plus boxes, sorted, bubble wrapped, labeled, taped and stacked... I am done. Sadly, some of the brand new items, and items that are like new will never reach the needy, Green Drop claims to give to. I scheduled a donation for pick up by Green Drop (on behalf of Military Order of the Purple Heart) on 8/24/2023. I followed Green Drop's guidelines for packing and placing the items outside my home More than 28 hours and three phone calls later, the donations have still not been picked up--even though the website says that they were. The two supervisors with whom I spoke claimed at first that my street was blocked and later that the street was too narrow. This was not my first pick up. I am now left with the task of paying someone to assist me in picking up the boxes and delivering them to a legitimate charitable organization. This is my first Yelp review. It is important to me that potential donors and receiving organizations--in this case, Military Order of the Purple Heart--know how donors are treated. My relationship with Green Drop has ended. This is the 2nd time you failed to pick up my items that I took the time to sort bag and box and not even call me to tell me you weren't coming. I will never donate to you again. I see why there are only 1 and 2 stars for Green Drop. Another year the Green Drop driver does not make a stop for scheduled pickup. The driver claims they stopped by at 720AM BUT we were in the driveway at that time for a few hours throughout the day. No truck or person showed up or drove by. Same as last year. Last year I had to call and reschedule last year and decided NOT to reschedule through Green Drop this year. I feel for the veterans. read more

I've donated for years with only one issue of items not being picked up and a truck was sent back when I called. Yesterday I had 14 boxes set out the night before the scheduled pickup clearly labeled and visible from the street. They were not picked up. When I called I was told my driveway is too long. It has not been too long in the past. I asked how long is too long and they would not answer my question. I was told to put my boxes down by the street and they would pick them up next week. Nope. we donated 3 very good flat screen televisions, with remotes and Manuals attached. Nothing wrong with them but we replaced them with smart tvs. When the truck came to pick them up, the man threw them on top of boxes to the back of the truck. I'm sure by the time they got back they no longer worked. People are kind enough to donate you would think they would handle tv's with a little more care. read more

I had scheduled a pick up for donations, well in advance. I followed the checklist and made sure I keep the boxes outside the building at 7am (as the instructions recommend). The boxes were lying outside for an entire day. It was supposed to be picked up by American Red Cross. No one picked them up, I got no calls for why the donation could not be picked up. When I enquired why the donations were not picked up, they had no reply and simply asked me to reschedule. It is very disheartening to see a charity organization that doesn't care about people's time or their own mission. Would not recommend them. Try VVA or other places instead.
