Three Daggers - Edington Farm Shop

Three Daggers

The 3 Daggers is an excellent pub. It serves the small village of Edington on the edge of the…read moreSalisbury Plain. I have had several meals there all of which were excellent and the service was extremely good. Provinsions come mostly from the local area. Tonite I tried something new. I had a pizza in their pizza garden. I have had thousands of pizza in my lifetme but I must admit this pizza I had was probably the best yet. The pizza chef is a local boy trained in Bath under the guidance of one of the area's top pizza chefs. I decided to start out with a basic pizza margarita. No frills. Basic pizza. It was truly incredible. I asked the chef "what is the secret?" expecting it to be something regarding the sauce. Without hesitation, he said "it is the dough." He takes 72 hours to prepare the dough. The end product is fantastic, soft greaseless dough. Beautiful. My daughter, our family pizza expert, said it was the best pizza she has ever had. She ended up dipping her pizza in a mayo/garlic sauce that she simply said "I am hooked." Needless to say, we will be back. By the way, the ambiance is great. The indoor dining has a farm like feel to it and the outdoor pizza garden is sunny and cheery. The pub also has a line of ales that are very good and I would recommend the 3 Daggers Black, a stout that actually creeps up on Guiness pretty well. There is also a farm shop that features a lot of local goodies.

Breakfast offered a spread of freshly made croissants and homemade yogurt with apricots, in addition to a menu of options to order. Service was very good. The inn is charming, with three guest rooms and one common living room. The decor is beautiful, beamed ceilings and vintage photographs give the space a lot of character. We loved it - a total gem! There are several public footpaths near the inn for a scenic walk after dinner.

Authentic delicious Italian food with fresh pasta and nicely prepared risotto. Pasta carbonara was made from fresh pasta and looked and tasted amazing. Lamb was juicy and delicious. Risotto was well prepared. The desserts were oddly not very Italian. Tiramisu and cheesecake - a little too English/Americanized. Nevertheless, the entire dinner was superb!

Excellent local beer straight from the barrel, racked up behind the ba, which is full of friendly locals who obviously love their pub. I enjoy good food and am pretty picky, so I can be difficult to please. This place is definitely worth the detour, as they say in the Michelin guide. Good menu with an interesting selection of meat and fish dishes, good standard pub dishes in addition to these, sausage and mash, fish and chips etc at £8.00 (2010), with the more restaurant style main courses at £12- £15 (2010), great deserts at £4.95 and an excellent cheese selection for £6.95. They provide a lovely board of fresh baked white and brown bread with butter and dipping olive oil free of charge. Service is really very good and the wine list although limited is good value and most tastes are catered for with the offer of 175ml or 250ml glassed available for a good number of the wines. Can eat outside or inside. Hope you enjoy it
