My review is super long, so here are the highlights:
1. The maids are friendly but very slow. No incentive to finish quickly because it's an hourly rate of $40/hr. per maid.
2. Owner is very prompt with answering emails.
3. They do a thorough job.
4. They do not use only non-toxic products.
5. They need more specific packages, and timeframes.
This was my first time hiring a cleaning service, so some of my opinion may come from inexperience with having other people clean my home. I reached out to Green Cleaning DFW because I needed a little help after having a baby, and liked that they said they use non-toxic products, which is very important to me. They were offering a $60 off a first cleaning via Facebook. I contacted the owner, Josh, and he promptly responded that it was for the standard clean or move in/move out, but not custom packages. I read the different packages listed on their website, and scheduled my appt. for a standard cleaning.
2 days before, I was given an arrival time window, and the 2 ladies who would be coming listed under my confirmation. We made sure all of our belongings were put away so they would be able to come and quickly clean without wasting time moving things to clean around them.
The first lady arrived promptly at 10:35, asked me to show her around, then asked me what I wanted cleaned and how long I expected her to be there. I thought that was odd considering I had booked for the standard package, but I told her that I wanted their standard cleaning and I didn't know how long to expect them because it was my first time hiring a service. We live in a single story 4bed/3bath home, so I was thinking 3 hours tops was plenty of time for 2 people.
The second lady arrived an hour later and started working in the kitchen. By 1:00 I was wondering what was taking so long because both ladies were still where they started. I asked about how much longer with what was left, and was told to expect it to be about 3 hours. My eyeballs must have popped out of my head because at $80/hr, that would have been another $240 on top of what I was already paying. I said that I appreciated what they were cleaning, but she had been in our bathroom for 2 hours (and it was dirty, but it wasn't 2 hours dirty), and I really needed my floors vacuumed and mopped. So I asked them to just stop and do that. Then I emailed Josh to ask if I would be charged $80 for the first hour since the second lady wasn't even here and was told that I would only be charged for the time that both were here, and he would figure out a total when they were finished. He also said that the first cleaning always takes the longest and cost the most.
It was a little after 1 when I asked them to do the floors, and they were gone by 1:50. If they had worked at that speed from the beginning, I would have had a completely clean house instead of just a clean bathroom and kitchen, and the rest of my home in the condition it was in before they arrived.
In the 3-3.5 hours they were here, they cleaned my master bathroom, kitchen, they dusted 1 ceiling fan that I know of because one of the blades had to be screwed back in because it was wobbly, and then dusted off a dresser in my bedroom. Then the floors. Everything else, including 2 bathrooms, were left untouched.
I spoke to the first lady and we discussed the possibility of her coming twice a month for 2 hours and I just make a list of things I needed help with and she said that was absolutely fine. I can afford $80 twice a month. I cannot afford $400-$480 twice a month. I was going to schedule again until I was paying my bill over the phone with Josh and when he gave me my total, I asked if that included the $60 first cleaning discount, to which he replied to me a bit snarky, "that was only if you had them stay for the full cleaning. I gave you $30 off, but since you stopped them it should have negated the discount and I shouldn't have taken anything off." Well, okay then..
So all this to say, it is $40 per maid, per hour. If it's your first cleaning, expect them to be in your home anywhere from 5-6 hours. They are thorough in their work, but maybe should have another category of "deep cleaning" added. I appreciate the thoroughness, but I didn't need invisible soap scum shaved off my shower walls. I just wanted it sprayed, scrubbed and move on to the next thing, which is what I expected in a "standard clean". Also- they don't use strictly non-toxic products. They do use Mrs. Meyers cleaning products..but they were also using an aerosol glass cleaner, SprayAway, and while it may be "ammonia free" it is not non-toxic and has a very strong odor.
I am very careful about the products I bring into my home, and around my children. If I were to have them back, I would have provided my own non-toxic cleaning products. The ladies were pleasant, and my only complaint with them is the lack of speed. It was a new experience, and I just don't believe this company is the right fit for us. read more
