This spot is Dog, LGBTQ, and weed friendly so if any of those are your thing, this place is great. Very low key vibes, keyless entry, no staff on site 24 hours but very accessible by text. GREAT BEDS, w an assortment of pillow types leading to great sleep. Don't know if they soundproofed but never heard a peep from the rooms on either side. Guest closet full of things you may need or want. Located right across the street from a little beach on Bear Lake. The only drawback, not a big one, is that it's located in a VERY busy road, not annoying but little ones and pets will have to be watched! All in all, a great stay- we will be back!

Her apologies were only the first of many as the problems kept mounting. - Musty smell, especially in the bedrooms, where window fans sealed so poorly they let in insects - Torn screens that let in insects - Broken blinds in two bedrooms that prevented us from controlling the light - No window coverings in the open living-dining-kitchen area, so we could not use the sofa bed, for which no pillows were provided anyway - Stained carpeting in the dining area and one bedroom - Water-soaked carpeting in the living room growing mushrooms! - Dirty bath tub with slow drain leaving you standing in inches of water during even a brief shower - Water damage around the sweating toilet and above the kitchen stove - Empty propane tank on the grill - Submerged dock Despite the efforts of the maintenance staff, most of these were not resolved. Our request to be moved to another property was denied. We received only a small refund for one night's stay and half the housekeeping fee. This property requires considerable work before being rented. We will not use Crystal Vacation Rentals again.

Sitting at my desk on a Friday, watching the rain hit my window... I thought, "I'm not spending my…read moreweekend here..." My thought processes was where can I go within driving distance with Bentley(my fur-baby), hike and take in beautiful sunsets on the beach.... After a short search Michigan and Highway 31 Cabins checked ALL the boxes! The airbnb hosts Charlie and Andra were great! They responded within minutes to my messages, gave detailed/easy to understand directions to their location and instructions on how to enter the cabin along with where to park(all very much appreciated!)... the area is super cute, half circle of cabins, complete with a fire pit. Once inside everything looked up just as pictured on their Airbnb site; no surprises. My favorite part was the information binder with "insider/local" tips, love exploring the hidden gems to local areas. Lots of amazing sites to see within a reasonable distance. Pictured below are a few of the places I explored during my stay. I'm not telling you where I went... you'll need to book Highway 31 Cabins for the inside scoop. They put a lot of effort in on mapping out locations(all in the information binder); I'm not just going to give it away... ;) The entire process from booking, checking in and out was seamless; overall a great experience!

Renters BEWARE!!!! I would not recommend renting the Aspen cabin from Jeff with Crystal Adventures!…read moreWe had a horrible experience at this cabin. Upon arrival, we discovered a lady bug/beetle infestation. The dishes in the kitchen cabinets were dirty and also had beetles on them. The kitchen is also not a full kitchen as advertised. of the two bedrooms, one of them does not have heat, and the other one has a hidden baseboard heater which you are not made aware of. This resulted in us sleeping without heat before the first night. The bathrooms are absolutely filthy. Only 2 of us (out of 6 people) showered the entire weekend as the showers were very unclean. We had dog hair in the sheets of our bed. We realize mistakes can happen with cleaners so tried to work with the property owner, Jeff in hopes of working something out and issuing a partial refund for everything we encountered last weekend. He was very unprofessional and left us no choice but to contact AirBNB for help. After seeing our photos and videos, they agreed that we deserved a partial refund. I just wanted to help inform others to avoid renting from Crystal Adventures at all costs! It was a very unfortunate situation for our family.

The river was just beautiful and less busy than others in the area. In hindsight I wish we had each gotten our own kayaks instead of doubling up in canoes as the river is tricky to navigate in the larger sized vessel at times.
