They are very analytical as well and go after the fish in the right temperature and make sure they are using the right color and keep in touch with the other captains on the lake to see what's working. I have been fishing all over the country and this is one of the best equipped boats I've seen. We went out for king Salmon 3 times with these guys and we weren't disappointed. We caught Kings all three trips and they worked so hard with 12-14 poles out trolling at once. The boat deck was very comfortable and of course it had a bathroom on board. The gear, poles, rigs, electronics and downriggers where all top knotch. Kudos to these guys...price was very reasonably priced compared to other charters I've been on. We had a blast and can't wait to get back. He gave me a $50 gift certificate to the microbrewery in town as well. She also made her way around the boat to see how all the passengers were enjoying their trip. She was fantastic! Jo-Jo was a great captain. He was also very friendly and took the time to talk with my 6 year old. Brenden was also very wonderful. Making sure all the walkways were clear and safe. He was also taking the time to talk with the passengers. Lyndon was our bar tender and was also so incredibly nice. Made some great Long Island iced teas and was great to chat with. The boat is very cute. We truly had a great time on our cruise. I highly recommend going out on the tour at least once. I would love to do it again. I was alone in a boat half the size of his fighting a 25# fish when he came towards me to within 50 feet demanding to tell him what depth and color my fish came at before he would turn away. My boat was on autopilot so it wasn't like I was weaving around. He intentionally targeted my space just to be an asshole and thought he was being funny. Don't use him if you're a real sportsman! There are good captains out there that are true sportsmen.

The proprietors are wonderful people who do their best to make sure your stay is exactly what your looking for. The accommodations in the cabins are rustic, but not lacking. All the pots, pans, and dishes you could ask for, with full kitchens and baths. Clean sheets and towels on the beds and in the bathrooms. There is a playground with a volleyball net as well. There are also lots of board games in the cabins themselves. At night every cabin has an outside fire pit perfect for a fire. If your into fishing there are many great rivers and lakes up here with world class fishing. I watched Joe, the proprietor fish as he does apparently every night and it was more worthwhile than the hours of videos on youtube i had watched before on how to do it. I came up here with the men in my family to have a relaxing time and we certainly did. We hope to make this a yearly trip, it was truly that great. Good for couples, groups, families, weddings (their was a wedding here while we were here) and individuals.

My friends and I were supposed to go to a music festival out of the state last fall but of course…read moreplans changed, so we decided to book a camping weekend at Orchard Beach State Park instead. Located in Manistee, there is plenty to do nearby but unfortunately the weather was pretty rainy for most of the weekend we were there. The access to the beach was closed due to erosion but there are other beaches available. Checking in was easy and there is onsite ice and firewood for sale. The host site was awesome with lots of books for use and a whiteboard with local info. Our site had water and electric hookup, so we were tucked in amongst several RVs and motor homes. The campground was very quiet, which was nice! The restroom facilities were clean and functional, although one had a small set of stairs leading into the actual bathroom area which made it not so accessible. We were on spot 95, which is right near the highway. We knew this going in and could see from the photos that it didn't look that close. Well, it was pretty close, and very loud with road noise. This wasn't a big deal for us but if noise bothers you I'd skip this part of the campground. Another thing to note is that some of the sites hold water when it's been raining, so maybe not the best for tent camping. Our site seemed ok but it was mostly dirt so it did get a little muddy. Nothing too terrible, though. Overall we enjoyed our stay but this definitely wasn't my favorite of the state parks we've visited or camped at. There is a nice lookout point over the lake that made for some nice photos, and getting into town was easy.

The campground is wonderful and we really loved that it was one that was more underrated and less trafficked. We had a prime camping spot with an uninterrupted view of the lake and even though the weather we had during this weekend wasn't the best, we made do with cozy time in the tent, did a hike through the state park that was lovely and well maintained, and explored the nearby downtown of Manistee, of which Orchard Beach State Park is located just 5-10 minutes north! A wonderful weekend and state park in my books!
