I was extremely happy front he time I called them to see about booking the cabin til the time I left! We got there super late due to unforeseen events. To my surprise the owners texted to check on our progress. Not once did they ever have anything but a positive attitudes. We made it in and got settled very late. The time difference had us off slightly. The whole cabin was well furnished and extremely clean. It was very roomy and came with amenities most 5 star hotels don't! I was completely shocked at the experience and have now found a new place for my family to go whenever we feel a need to "get away", which is often! Upon our departure, the owner was even nicer than when we first met! I am so pleased with this place I will recommend you trying it out for yourself. We stayed in the Lincoln Hills Chalet the weekend of July 22 through the 23rd. There were a total of 8 family members and we traveled from Az to Best Bear Lodge to celebrate and surprise my brother for his 50th birthday. My husband isn't a camper and we needed somewhere close to my parent's house to stay. We rented the rustic cabin at Best Bear and our expectations were blown away! There wasn't much information to go off of online so we went in sort of blindly. The room was huge with a massive bunk bed and a seperate bed as well. There was a full sized fridge/freezer combo, a coffee maker and mugs and some other accessories, and some little snacks things. Towels and washcloths were also provided. There is an air conditioner which I wasn't expecting as well as an electric heater. Firewood is available for a small free and they will set up chairs and a table near the fire pit. The security of coming in each hot day to an air conditioned, clean bed is wonderful. There are communal bathrooms which are basically an actual single person bathroom with a shower. The Lodge provides you with quarters to use with the shower so it doesn't actually cost anything. They also supply a large amount of material on local attractions and restaurants. We had an incredibly amazing time and are so thankful we booked here! The price was so low for everything we were provided with and the service was amazing. We did not rent ATVs, however, we snowmobile frequently in this area in the winter and there is a massive two track system and many beautiful trails. If you have the time, this would be well worth your while. read more

We planed an anniversary party with family from all over Michigan and this place was the most accommodating. Everyone felt welcome in the huge public tent that's prepared for rain or shine and the music was alway on. Our cabin was gorgeous and our family loved their RV's they rented. My family and I usually only camp state parks in Michigan, but because of Covid we had to plan out first two trips at Private camp grounds. We had such an amazing time at Best Bear. They were kind, personal and incredibly accommodating. We rented a side by side To take out on the trails and spent 4 hours having a blast in the woods. They are also only 5 mins from the Pine River where we spent 6 hours rafting down the fastest river in Michigan. We had so much fun and hope to stay here again!!!! read more

Came here with my three children my wife and my three dogs and were welcomed with open arms what a great warm place to be when the temperature is low had a great time sorry we couldn't have stayed longer we will be back highly recommend it read more

5 stars from me for a campground is like 50,000,000 stars from someone who likes the outdoors. I let my family convince me to come here and stay in one of the 1-room cabins, and I'm so glad I did. Our hosts were so friendly, as were the other guests. The whole place has a fun atmosphere that makes it easy for a wuss like me to feel comfortable and not want to run to the nearest resort. The cabin itself, dishes, linens, bathrooms, etc were all very clean and comfortable. We did mostly touristy activities, like driving to Traverse City, shopping and hanging out at the beach. But, from talking with our neighbors we heard that off-roading, hiking and kayaking were very popular as well. We booked through Airbnb and got a great rate, especially when you compare to a hotel. If you're looking for any lodging in the area,(they have RV and tent sites as well) don't hesitate to bring your family here. read more

Stayed here for one night while on a weekend ski trip with friends. We stayed in one of the cabins, which was very clean, cozy and had a full kitchen. The owners were so sweet and very accommodating; they even hosted a big bon fire for all of the guests! I would definitely recommend this lodge to anyone skiing at Caberfae (15 min drive) or snowmobiling in the area. We plan on coming back soon! read more

Stayed in the cabin one rainy night, enjoyed the fire pit and enchanting lights outside. Everything was cleaned, well organized, and the bathroom was spotless. Comfortable, charming, and cozy accommodations. Having a full kitchen was convenient and came with everything we needed. Owner Carrie was accommodating and very nice. We've been staying here for the past few years. It's a great base camp for snowmobiling & right off the trail. The rooms are spacious, clean & well maintained. Each room has a full kitchen & even a crockpot. The owners are GREAT! Very friendly and make you feel at home. It's like a summer camp atmosphere where everyone staying here becomes friends. They have a fire pit area that's great to socialize at. Matt & Carrie (Owners) are steadily making improvements & adding accommodations. Can't say enough nice things about this place. If you're ever in the Irons area, any season, this is the place to stay. You won't regret it & you'll leave with some new friends. read more

Just spent a week at Best Bear Lodge &Campground. Absolutely the best vacation we have had in a long time. The owners go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and welcome. The trailer we stayed in was absolutely spotless. Furnished with everything you would need except for your own food. They even provide coffee for you !! Staying in a campground but with hotel amenities !! The ATV trails in the area are great. Just can't say enough good things about our vacation by staying at Best Bear Lodge. I stumbled upon this hidden gem by accident while traveling Michigan looking for dirt bike trails. The owner and his wife did everything possible to make me feel like I was at home. I had given them about an hour's notice of my arrival, and after I checked in, I was shown to my camping cabin. In check-in pouch, they even included a bag of popcorn! I stayed in their camping cabin (more like a luxury home with no water) It was cleaner than I could have imagined. It was air conditioned, had 3 bunk beds with brand new mattresses, and a front porch near a small fire pit and picnic table. I commented to the owner about the strange lack of bugs outside, (unusual for Michigan this time of year) and he informed me that they treat the area multiple times a month to keep them away. I saw no mosquitos and it was awesome! The structure was built brand new this year, and it is a custom construction, wood frame structure with a tin roof. It was everything I needed. There was a separate building to use the bathroom, also newly constructed and had a great shower with an on-demand hot water heater (never runs out) The other units on site have full kitchens, bathrooms and great air conditioning. There are also camp sites with full hookups for the RV crowd and many rustic campsites if you prefer to sleep in a tent (which you can bring or they can provide) The access to the off road trails was right from the property. I didn't have to trailer my machine anywhere. It was a convenient distance from a few gas stops, and I rode some of the best single track Michigan has to offer. I can't wait to get back up there. I cannot exaggerate how wonderful our stay at Best Bear Lodge was. The room we stayed in was much larger than I had expected. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well-stocked, and they had everything we needed. The location is amazing as well. Surrounded by nature, yet easy to get to larger cities if that is your plan. Great for nature-lovers, families, or romantic getaways. Matt and Carrie, our hosts were phenomenal.
