Just finished our 3rd vacation at one of Crystal Vacation Rental properties. All 3 times staff was friendly and quick to reply to any questions or requests. They'll gladly go above & beyond to ensure guests have a good trip. Properties vary, some are very newly renovated, clean lines, no clutter, very sterile. Some others are much more-so old school summer family cottages. Some could use a little TLC/upgrading, but website pictures & pricing show all that honestly. read more

Our problems with Birch Cove Bungalow began at check-in, finding the cottage dark and locked when we had been told it would be lighted and unlocked. We waited, bitten by swarms of mosquitoes from the standing water surrounding the property, while the someone drove from 30 miles away to let us in. Her apologies were only the first of many as the problems kept mounting. - Musty smell, especially in the bedrooms, where window fans sealed so poorly they let in insects - Torn screens that let in insects - Broken blinds in two bedrooms that prevented us from controlling the light - No window coverings in the open living-dining-kitchen area, so we could not use the sofa bed, for which no pillows were provided anyway - Stained carpeting in the dining area and one bedroom - Water-soaked carpeting in the living room growing mushrooms! - Dirty bath tub with slow drain leaving you standing in inches of water during even a brief shower - Water damage around the sweating toilet and above the kitchen stove - Empty propane tank on the grill - Submerged dock Despite the efforts of the maintenance staff, most of these were not resolved. Our request to be moved to another property was denied. We received only a small refund for one night's stay and half the housekeeping fee. This property requires considerable work before being rented. We will not use Crystal Vacation Rentals again. read more

A big THANK YOU to Angie. My husband and I plus 2 sons, 2 daughters-in-law plus one-year old granddaughter were all traveling separately from California to Michigan and meeting and staying in a vacation home on Platte Lake. Our rental had a water-softener leak and flooded 5 days before our arrival. The damage was so severe, the front door needed to be replaced (non-standard size). Because this was peak season, there were no other rentals available. Angie managed to get us three hotel rooms until our rental house was ready. Unfortunately, the hotel was 40 minutes from Platte Lake where our Michigan relatives were - but at least we had a place to sleep. Thank you, thank you, thank you. If we had been able to get in the house sooner, the vacation would have been perfect - especially since my husn=band and oldest son reeled in two big salmon - yummo! read more

We rented the hogle house in Honor, MI for one week. We were not entirley impressed with it, since there didn't seem to be the attention to detail that we hoped for. There were cobwebs all over the place inside and out, the bathroom was less than spotless, and very dated. The toilet was cracked, and smelly. Carpet was dingy, beds were crunchy old, and the throw rugs should have been thrown out, full of holes, and stains. We loved the volley ball net, and location of the house. The beach was just ok, messy as can be, with debree, and wish someone had groomed it. We left a review in house, but never heard from anyone. To top it off, our security deposit was held for more than 2 weeks, and they only responded and apparently sent it to me 18 days after we checked out. I have yet to get it. They didnt credit my credit card, but are sending a check. I think that is way too long to return this, as we have rented from many other places, and not had this issue. Sometimes its those "little" things, and too many of those things that accumulate and effect an experience. read more
