Driving north on 65, about 30 miles to go, singing off key to a classic Queen song, watching for the buffalo on the hill, minding my own business, when out of the blue my husband says "we need to eat something. Where do you want to go?" I'm awakened from by roadtrip coma. I shake my head trying to make a coherent statement and sentence when the inevitable "I dunno" slides right out. It's straight to Yelp. Lot's of fast food, nope. Then I spot a 4 1/2 star restaurant but we'd have to get off at the next exit. A half mile and 3 lanes to cross, we get off the exit only to be in the wrong lane. A fellow driver must have taken pity on us with our out of state plate and let us cross in front of him, making him miss the light. We get to Greek Cafe and we were the only ones there. They advertised a lunch special but, thank goodness, we only ordered gyros, they were almost too large for one person to eat. I had the lamb and beef gyro while my husband had the mixed grill shawarma. Gyro oand chicken with grilled onions and peppers. They were off the grill rather quickly and I went through the topping bar with speed. It was pretty out so we opted to eat on the patio. Both gyro were delicious and huge. I was able to get through about 3/4 of it before I reluctantly had to stop. My husband managed to finish his and the rest of mine. Better put - we didn't have an opportunity to eat again until after we checked into our air bnb in San Jose. By then we were getting a little hangry but it was also almost 10 hours since lunch. I've been visiting the Greek Cafe Grill since before 2011, and despite living over an hour away, I always make sure to stop by whenever I'm in Franklin, usually every 90 days. I can't leave without enjoying an amazing gyro platter for myself and our family. We've tried gyros from various places, but none compare to the freshness of the ingredients and the perfectly cooked meat here--it's not greasy, just right. Our favorite is the tabbouli. During my visit on 6/24/2025, Mary and Sam were extraordinary, as always with their service. The location is in a perfect spot in Franklin, Tn and very clean. Brentwood is very lucky to have such a wonderful Greek cuisine in their city! read more

This deserved zero stars! YUCK. Not only is the man taking your order rude, but the food wasn't even good. My husband who eats anything, actually commented how the Lamb tasted like the refrigerator. The appetizer humus had no flavor at all, and we got one pita bread for $8. The kicker was the very, rude cashier, who took our order. After paying and waiting, He called for my husbands order. He only handed my husband his order, not mine. He then starts to make my veggie wrap. He asked what I wanted on it. I named one veggie, and cheese (for which he put a teaspoon of cheese sprinkled on it, I asked for more and that ticked him off.) I didn't get to add any more veggies, because that rude man turned his back on me and ended up pushing around 2 other men's jobs. He push aside the cook, and cooked it himself. He went to the counter and moved that guy from his job. Then almost threw the wrap at me. Needless to say, it had NO taste, No flavor- it was Bla! We both threw our meals away after a few bites. Food was just ok. Good portions, but kinda blan. Language was a big issue. The dude making the food simply didn't listen at all, even to his own boss who took my order. Multiple times I had to tell them multiple items were missing from my order. It was a fight just to get what I paid for. No itemize receipt. It wasn't just me. It was all the customers behind me. One even began to argue with them as we ate our food. It was that bad. They were short a serving spoon for the humus so the guy started shaking off a dressing spoon and realized that wasn't going to work. We have been jonesing for some Greek food all week and decided to give this place a try. For the record - I spoke a few phrases of Greek to the staff and was met with blank stares. So, either my Greek pronunciation is indecipherable or there is no-one of Greek heritage working there. Not that this is a problem; it is the exception vs the rule to find natives running an ethnic food establishment. The food was good - and filling - but nothing really jumped out at me. Shawarma was on the menu on-line but not on the menu board in the restaurant. However, they attempted to make it for me anyway. Rice in grape-leaves were a nice appetizer.
