I moved into a foreclosed home with a pool that had been sitting open under acres of trees for 4-5 yrs. The previous owners didn't winterize the pool or cover it. I seriously had a swamp! Thick with jello-y frog slime, frogs, newts, snakes and every other biology project you could think of. My filter, pump, frogger and some above ground piping was visibly cracked/broken. Without a ton of money, I was determined to get this pool opened and turn it into a beautiful chemistry project! To make it more interesting, I was doing this without purchasing a new filter or equipment! The Newburgh team directed me almost daily on how to get my pool open with the least amount of chemicals. I was encouraged to purchase a new filter, because obviously this would make it go 1000x quicker, but I was NEVER pushed. Eventually, I did get another filter and ended up removing my broken frogger equipment. Fast forward many hours of scooping soggy nasty leaves, frogs, newts, etc. Cleaning my filter every 30 mins for months (rain, shine and snow), I now have a beautiful clear blue pool!!! They believed in my biology/chemistry project! Oh... and if they hadn't already spent enough time with me,?! They brought my son on the other side of the counter and taught him how to properly balance the pool! Thank you Newburgh Royal Pools and Spa!!!

They hired a sub contractor that punctured the liner behind the new light that was installed. From the date of installation there was a leak for five straight weeks. They had this company come back and the installer stated the leak was coming from the screw to the skimmer. When I asked how did they know without checking he advised me that they used short screws, because they did not have longer screws! I insisted after two days they come back and check because the pool was still leaking. A diving company came to inspect for leaks, to find a hole behind the light. They had to come twice to patch up the hole. Meanwhile the pool was still leaking. I want monetary compensation for payment for the water company and having to run my water from my home for five weeks. They offered as compensation $250 in supplies!! I paid more than that maintaining the pool water for five weeks. They keep passing me around trying not to compensate me. The liner looks good, I paid over $10k to have it installed only to add the water fee from the company and there is not telling what my water bill will be. Do your homework before using this company!!!!!

I have an old wood-walled pool that has seen better days so the skimmer install was tricky. Omar and Ben came and did a great job working around the issue and installing a new leak free skimmer. Once I was able to fill the pool and get the pump working I was looking at what looked like a green swamp. However, the very knowledgeable Lisa in the water testing department recommended a 3 day regimen of chemicals which, remarkably, had the pool more or less clean in three days. Honestly, I would never have believed it. She understands the chemistry and was spot on with the solution. Of course if I'd closed the pool properly last season...lol, but I didn't, and thanks to Lisa, and Ben and Omar I am up and running before June 1st. Thanks Royal Pools!

Seven months later, they had to come back out and replace additional parts, which cost me another $1,100 over a couple of visits. Now, after all of that, I am being told the same control board they replaced nine months ago is bad again and that I need to spend another $900 to replace it. I understand warranties have time limits, but when a customer spends around $2,000 trying to get the same hot tub fixed, it is extremely frustrating to be told that a major part they recently installed has already failed and that the only option is to pay full price again. At some point, a company should stand behind its work, its diagnosis, and the parts it installs. I do want to be fair and say that Eniezer has been very professional and helpful from a customer service standpoint. My issue is not with him personally. He has been courteous and responsive. My problem is with the company's inability to properly fix the hot tub and back up the service they provided. Based on my experience, I would be very cautious about using them for any major repair.

Orange County Pools in New Windsor, NY - 0 Stars. Horrible experience over the entire process of…read moreinstalling a new custom vinyl pool with a fiberglass hot tub within the footprint of the pool. We dealt with Shane, who is absolutely useless. Knows nothing about the equipment he sells, could not remember anything we had gone over with him or the actual liner and products we wanted. We were doing stone coping and pavers around the pool. Told us we must use 12" coping. Luckily I waited to order the stone as when they installed the the pool walls and the hot tub (which was delayed by several month because they told us the wrong one was sent to them - an absolute lie as we had to chase them down up to the day before they were supposed to install it until they finally lied to us and tried to talk us into doing a concrete hot tub instead - which by the way they originally said they could not do). When they finally installed the hot tub 4+ months later, 12" coping would not cover the gap between the hot tub and the pool wall because they had measured incorrectly. (needed at least 14" coping). Then the hot tub was leaking from day one. Couldn't get the basics right - if it doesn't hold water, nothing else matters. They sent over someone who didn't know what he was doing and was just smearing caulk all over the one light fixture in the hot tub to try and fix it. After the 4th! visit to find fix the leak, we had to get a sonic leak detection specialist to find and repair the leak. Then one of the relays went out at the Pentair panel. We were now dealing with the owner of the company (Vinnie) due to Shane's complete incompetence (I can not stress enough how clueless he is..). Vinnie tried to claim it happened because the low voltage line was run in the same conduit as the high voltage line (this is not the cause) and it was our electricians fault and needed to go back to them. He didn't realize that HIS electrician had run it.. another idiot trying to offload his mistakes onto us. They sent a nice guy over to fix it and he replaced the relay, but said he couldn't test as he didn't know how, but it should be good as it was a new part - the first one was a new part also, you need to test it. I did it myself. They also ran the lines for surface mounted air control valves (for bubbles in the hot tub) right in the walk path and where you step into the hot tub. I spoke to Shane (Vinnie wasn't available) to tell them they needed to be moved (10 mintue job - pvc flex pipe) and Shane said I don't think you can do that.. The guy who knows nothing about pools, now has an opinion on pool plumbing. I told him it absolutely can be done, and WILL be done, I was asking them to do it as they had put them in the wrong place. He got back to me after talking to his techs and gave me a quote of $150 per hour to move. Thanks for nothing idiot. I did it myself in ten minutes, no issues. Shane also ordered the cover for the pool and hot tub incorrectly. He literally co do nothing right. We spent over 1 and 1/2 years dealing with their incompetence. The actual pool builders they outsourced to (believe they were called King Pools) were good. NEVER EVER think about using them, you will regret it like we did.

NIGHTMARE!!!! -- DO NOT PAY THEM UNTIL THE JOB IS 100% COMPLETE…read more I live 1,000 miles away and hired Royal Pools to refurbish a pool at my elderly mother's house in New York that had basically turned into a swamp. They were the highest price but came highly recommended by neighbors and I didn't want to cut corners and take a chance. At their request, I made the mistake of paying them when the job was "almost done." In the time it took me to run to the store and come back, they packed up and left without finishing the job. Like other reviews have said, their attitude went from great to downright hostile the minute they had their money. I spent $25,000 to have this pool refurbished, and they left me with a pool that is unfinished, leaking, unable to properly circulate, and with no chemicals in it. It is now starting to turn back into the same swamp I paid them to fix. Now I have to take more time off work and fly back to NY to find a company to finish the job. If they'll do this to a 75 year old widow, I doubt they'll care about taking your money.

I scheduled an appointment for someone to come out to give an estimate and they arrived on time. He was very knowledgeable, friendly and pricing was about average (maybe a tad higher). I did feel there was a little bit of a push to purchase a new liner, but I'm sure that's how they make a lot of their money. Anyhow, I ended up repairing and cleaning the pool on my own. The liner is ripped, but I used a patch and called it a day (for now). A few weeks later, I received a follow up call to see if I'd be using them. Customer service was great! When I'm ready for a liner (likely within a couple years), I will call Kory's pools for an updated estimate and hope they're in the price range I'm looking for. ZERO complaints!
