It boogles my mind that this place does not have a higher rating. This place was awesome. I was able to get one of the themed rooms at a greatly discounted rate. It is located within walking distance to kings Island and has a huge parking lot. The staff there is very friendly. And they have activities for the little ones like story time, character photos, dance parties and clock show. There is also an arcade and miniture golf course on-site. You literally do not have to leave the resort. They have a candy shop, an ice cream shop, a bar, a Dunkin, and a restaurant. There are refrigerators and microwaves in the rooms as well. They take their COVID precautions seriously and everyone over the age of 5 must wear a mask in public. The place was very clean. Every kid gets their own wolf ears from the gift shop upon arrival. Now the water park. It needs its own paragraph. The lifeguards are friendly and there is tons to do there. The water is warm, year-round. Word to the wise, it gets packed on weekends, but the lines for the slides are still not too bad. I do recommend getting there early to claim you seats. They are first come, first served. They have a wave pool, a huge splash area with slide, a lazy river, a wading pool with little slide, a water coaster, family slide, a restaurant and bar. They also have lockers that you can rent. And if you are ballin' you can rent a cabana, but I did not see a need for it and plus the cabanas are away from all the action anyway. In the summer there is an outdoor portion of the water park open. I cannot say enough about this place. My kids were entertained for three whole days. My only complaint was that the people above my room must have had cement shoes, because all we heard was heavy walking around the room at late hours. That is not the resort's fault though. I did inform them of what was going on and, management was very apologetic and worked with us to make the situation right. I really enjoyed Wolf Lodge and look forward to going back, but I would probably only go if got another discounted rate. No matter you what you get, there is a $30/ day resort fee added to it. I highly recommend checking out the Lodge, especially for those with kids. It is a nice activity filled venue that gives the family fun things to do during the cold winter months. read more

We visited with our for year old daughter. We bought a Groupon for a one night stay which wasn't a bad deal. It was $120 and that included the waterpark passes & the basic room with two full-size beds. I was honestly expecting it to be really dirty and gross but I was pleasantly surprised. Our room was clean and comfortable, the waterpark didn't seem gross. Comfortable beds. We played a game of bowling in the evening, it was seven dollars per person, not bad. The arcade starts at $15 per person. we left in the evening to get dinner but there's lots of restaurants close by the restaurants on site didn't look bad but kinda pricey. They have free activities that you can participate in. We took my daughter to story time at night, which was kind of cute. We live close by so we'll definitely come back again. We had a great time at Great Wolf Lodge. We originally had book for the middle of May for my son's third birthday but due to the pandemic we had to reschedule due to the hotel was not open. We arrived on Sunday about 12:45pm. There was a couple in line ahead of me. They asked people to wear a mask in the lobby and only one person from your party to come in to check in. We thought we were just going to get our wristbands at this time and then check in at 4:00pm but our room was ready. We were in room 2081 which is a luxury king suite with a pull out sofa. It was perfect for my family of three. The room had a mini fridge which is a huge bonus to me. We were in the water park pretty close to 1:00pm and stayed til 7:00pm. The water park closes at 8:00pm. We had signed up for story time at 8 and the dance party at 9. With social distancing you currently have to make reservations for the group events. When you enter the water park you can pick up towels and life jackets. You have to scan your wrist band to get the towels and scan when you return them or you will be charged $15. There were team members cleaning all of the hand rails all day long but no one swept the floor. Cause there were bandaids and trash on the ground Monday morning when they first opened. Also our table was sticky but they have wipes out to wipe down tables. You would think they would do a major cleaning after the park closed but that didn't happen. We expected a lot of people in line waiting to get in Monday morning at 10:00am when they opened the water pay so we got down there about 20 minutes early and to our surprise there was only one family waiting. They also open the doors about 9:45am so yay!! We didn't eat on property. A large cheese pizza was $17 and the breakfast buffet was $16.99 for adults and $9.99 for kids so we opted to pick up fast food from near by restaurants. Overall we will be back! I would give them zero stars if I could! This post is meant to help families! I don't usually write these things but this can definitely help families! My Middle School daughter is on a cheer team and we raised money for them to go to an overnight at Great Wolf lodge. We find raised all year for this overnight! First the team goes to the swim area and can barely breathe from the chlorine. My daughter particularly has a harsh cough from the chemicals. My youngest daughter went as well and had some burns on her skin. So then my husband takes my younger home because it was not safe. I get my group of 6 middle school cheer girls to groups to our room and they start showering to get the chemicals off their bodies. While they are showering, I just recently having a major surgery that affected my leg, lay down on the bed. I soon realize something is crawling next to me. I jump up and take a picture of it. I let the coach know and we soon realize they are bed bugs. We had 4 rooms that fit 6 people in each, as you know the rooms are not cheap especially that size. So the manager is notified and they split our room up and find a room that holds 4 which means we send other girls to the rooms. In the meantime we have to have the stuff in the room treated. So I have 6 middle school girls with all their belongings in the middle of the hallway outside the room going through their stuff so that their electronics do not get ruined when they treat their stuff. It was embarrassing. This is the time they are supposed to be getting in their dresses for a very nice dinner. Of course the girls and chaperones were late to it. The dinner was quite expensive and I got there 15 minutes before it ended because I had to move what stuff we had and snacks to the new room which is on the other side of the building on the 2nd floor. We were on the 4th floor. I decide to talk to the manager myself and told them we should be compensated for what happened. I believe we should be compensated for all the rooms. The girls that night had the hardest time sleeping not to mention the girls had so much stuff to be treated it took 7 hours. Therefore our girls did not even have PJs to sleep in and I was woke up for 2 different loads of stuff to be delivered to our room at 1:20 am. Remember our files need to compete the next day. So when I tell the manager we need to be compensated he said that there is a process and that someone needs to come in on Monday and inspect. Once inspection is done and they get the results someone will contact us. I said then we would be compensated and he said no not necessarily. I then showed him the picture of the bed bug and again said that we should be compensated. He said to me that he is frustrated with this situation too and that if we ever go to a hotel and they say they haven't ever had bedbugs they would be lying. I told him I understand however the other hotels would make it right. Ty his is unacceptable for us. The fact that a hotel manager is telling me he is frustrated with our situation is not good customer service I am not there to make things right for him. I am the paying customer with the most to lose over the situation. I did ask if I should contact corporate and he said it would just get sent back to them and the process would take place and their process has been in place for 12 years. I will never recommend anyone to to go to Great Wolf Lodge because I do understand things can happen however I also know when things happen that they should take care of the situation the correct way or at least in an empathetic way and in a way such as compensating is for the rooms since the experience was memorable in the wrong way. My middle school cheer team will remember their last comp as the comp that they had bedbugs. read more

Place was trash from check in to check out. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. We had nothing but problems. I paid for the reservation and added the meal plan at booking. Was told (and I have emails to confirm that) I would owe $80 at the resort as I had paid for the rest. Nobody was at the counter when we arrived so we went to the self check in computers. Froze up on us THREE TIMES and we finally saw someone and walked over so they could help us.... Or so we thought.. Went on about our day. Went to dinner at Lodge Wood Fired Grill. They only had 2 other tables the entire time we were there, and 1 table when we arrived. We're like great, we'll be in and out. lol.... No, we were there for 2-3 hrs. Our appetizer came AFTER OUR FOOD. Again, only a couple other tables, place wasn't slammed. They didn't even bring my daughter's kids meal out (I had to ask the waitress for that as the cooks brought food out). The waitress was very kind and apologetic, we left her a great tip. She was about the only courteous person we had contact with. Next day we go to breakfast. This was supposed to be free as we purchased the meal plan. We walked in and saw a bunch of people at the buffet and just assumed that's where you went when you bought the package. (Maybe if you explained things, people would know?) Got our food and sat down. The "server" (I'm assuming) came over and was questioning us, which was very uncomfortable. Why didn't we get our drinks from the woman at the front?Well, there was no woman at the front...? Where are your meal vouchers? Well, we didnt receive any "vouchers"...? They give it to you when you check in so you should have it if you have the package. Well guess what, we don't and we have no idea what you're talking about. We were being treated like we were thieves??? LOL. After a long conversation with her, come to find out yes, we were supposed to receive an envelope when we CHECKED IN? Well of course we didn't get that, nothing went as planned Lol. Place is a mess. Nobody knew what they were doing. Left there and went to the waterpark and had a great time. Lunch rolls around and I go to order pizza from Hungry as a Wolf. I'm using my credits so you enter your room number and last initial or something. I did that and kept getting errors. Used the chat feature on the app (which is absolutely pointless might I add) and had to end up calling in due to not getting a response. I waited for someone to answer for 35 minutes while at the pool with my 3yo. JUST TO BE TOLD IM BEING TRANSFERRED. Don't you love that? So they transfer me to the front desk and the girl tells me oh it's fine you just have to physically go in and they can take care of it for you. At this point I was so fed up with anything food related at this place I was ready to just pay for it and move on. But guess what? I'm not paying $70 for 1 large pizza, 1 personal cheese pizza, and 1 order of freakin cheese sticks when I PAID FOR THE FOOD PACKAGE. I go into the restaurant and there were 4-5 people hanging out laughing messing around. Nobody wanted to help, they said I had to use the order yourself thing. I even explained the issues at the pool and still nothing, enter it on the computer. Did that and guess what, I got the error again. Who woulda thought?! Needless to say, a woman had to enter my order in behind the counter (like I had already freakin told them?!). Simple fact is, nobody is here to help you. Everyone is on their phones. Literally saw a maid hiding in the closet on her phone walking down the hall leaving lol. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, MONEY, AND EMOTIONAL SANITY on the package bullshit. There are plenty of options nearby. The physical waterpark was great. Can I just pay to go there? Because otherwise you're paying $500 for shit, just saying. Oh and when we got home, my cc got charged $196.87.... Yet the invoice I got emailed to me at checkout said $140.91..... yet the email I got prior to arriving at the hotel and the check in woman said I would owe $80 at the hotel...... I mean, I'm no genius but that doesn't add up. We came here for my daughters birthday and needless to say, we were HIGHLY disappointed. Seriously, just go somewhere else. My family and I visit GWL once or twice a year the past 5 years. I booked with Affirm so I could pay over 6 months. I was approved, sent an email with confirmation, then GWL sent me my reservation info. Yay! Birthday trip for my son/family. I reach out the Friday before my trip, wanting to confirm the loan and reservation are still good. I am told they still have the reservation. Great! We go Monday, at the front desk I said I used Affirm to book and am asked to put a credit card on file to clear for $200 but will be compensated if we dont charge that much to the room. Today, Wednesday, I check my charges after getting home and notice a $660 charge on my card. I reach out to customer service. I am told the same day the loan with Affirm was approved, it was also VOIDED?? Not one step of the way did ANYONE mention this to me, even when I EXPLICITLY reached out for this exact reason to GWL Friday. This could have been told TO me multiple times. Affirm also never told me this and that's a separate issue. GWL should have told me the truth when I asked about it but decided to pull this sneaky move to still get their money. Now I'll be canceling a birthday event for my son because I thought my Affirm payments for the trip would be spread out and instead came out all at once today. This is such deceiving behavior we will never go back to GWL. If this isn't a policy to thoroughly check when a guest asks about Affirm, it needs to be. How was the customer service rep today able to let me know so quickly the loan had been voided the same day it was made yet when I reached out Friday for that exact reason I was told it was good to go? Or the clerk on Monday couldn't tell me? (They also made my pizza wrong the first night and took 45 min for orders to be made when the app would say 15min. Were out of multiple things every time we tried to order). I expect those errors but not to be lied to. Shame on you GWL. read more

(Part 2, review continued...) The room: We got an average size room, it was on the 1st floor, and happened to be a handicap accessible room (which could be why it was a bit roomy). Ours had the queen bed and a pull-out couch with a divider wall in between. Initially I thought the divider wall was a nice addition. But later rethought that. As you couldn't keep an eye on the kids on the other side of the wall. And the air/heat was located on the couch side, and would freeze out the side while the other side wasn't as cool! There was a cute little patio with table and chairs, but we weren't in the room enough to make use of these. Bed was comfortable. These was a pull-out clothes line within the shower which came in handy for drying swim suits! The sink space was rather small. There were plenty of bath towels! And we liked the posted "Hibernation Hours" from 11pm - 7am. This was a nice way to remind our kids that they MUST be quiet... although, they were asleep long before these hours. And the adult wrist band is your room key! Which can also be used to scan purchases to your room account. No need to keep track of a key or wallet while at the waterpark. The fridge is a small one (in the average size room) but was nice for our snacks and left overs. And also the microwave for warming up foods/drinks. Extra Activities: We only did the bowling. Which was $6 per game, per person. And it was a lot of fun, but the alley could use a bit of maintenance. The pins weren't all being set up correctly. Some of the gutter guards were all jacked up or not working. But it was alright, and just fun. We considered trying out the Magi-Quest, but for about $20 per wand to play it... we found better use of our money and time. NOTE: for one-night stay, you have plenty of other activities (the water park) to do or recover from. BIGGEST TIP: Look for and try to find discounts for your stay. There are a couple options, but I found Groupon may be the best... But that's IF you can find your stay date in Groupon options. Look for it in advance. Overall, we had a good stay. And we all had a lot of fun and enjoyed the water park! read more

Hungry Wolf pizza - patrons order through a kiosk. We ordered a salad that had the ingredients listed and a garlic bread and a wine in a can. Or so we thought. The salad came with pepperoni and we're pork-free. The outside of the garlic bread was toasty but the inside wasn't cooked completely. It was the consistency of wet dough. Finally, they were out of the $12 wine in a can that I had already paid for. The solution was to just pick another. If you're not getting a pretty basic pizza, I'd say take a pass on this train wreck. The wand: you can play a game across the hotel with a pretty pricey wand. So we brought our want from a previous trip and it wasn't working, Turns out, the game has a time limit so if you want to reuse your wand, you have the pay again. Mother of two crazy boys under three years old & I HIGHLY recommend! Two kids under three keeps us home since it's crazy to go anywhere but this little get away was JUST what our family needed. We have a great wolf lodge near our home in Illinois however this location had better reviews so we decided to take the longer drive and let me tell ya IT WAS WORTH IT! We got a Kids Cabin room & it was super cute! My boys loved it. They have a microwave & fridge in the room as well which allowed us to save some money and bring our own quick lunch meals & snacks! Check in time was promised at 1pm, and we had no problems getting right in when we arrived at 1:10... front desk staff was great and informative! Room was extremely clean, and the house keeping staff that was cleaning other rooms near us were extremely friend as well and welcoming. It just gave me great vibes as we were having our first family vacation with our littles. The waterpark was awesome! They provide life jackets & towels! The staff again here was so nice and friendly! It was clean and family friendly. During our stay one evening at the waterpark an adult male got out of control from to many adult drinks & the staff security took care of the situation extremely quickly and removed him. (It was nice to have access to mama juice I won't lie, just don't over do it like that guy and ruin it for everyone ;) ) The resort has food, an arcade, build a bear, shopping, market.. no reason to leave! My husband is a grumpy man and would rather stay home but when we returned home from this vacation he asked ME when we would be returning. We had a GREAT TIME!! read more

I love this place so much. I think we've been here 4 times, but I may have lost track. We tried the GWL just north of Chicago once, which was not bad, but not quite as good as this one (shorter lines for water slides and a cool ropes course, but they have no hot tub and no water coaster, which is my favorite!). We also tried the Big Splash Adventure in French Lick once, which was a filthy disaster that left us itching for days. GWL in Mason is the absolute best. My kids are now 12 & 17, and they still have a great time, although I have to say I think I had even more fun than they did this last time. I might still come here on my own even when the kids are all grown! Lazy river and water slides all day, hot tub in the evening (even if I have to argue with people bringing their toddler into the adult-only hot tub -- some people are just entitled jerks), but overall, it's the perfect easy, semi-local vacation. My daughter is obsessed with MagiQuest. It is a bit glitchy and confusing at times, but she still loves it. My son had a blast in the arcade (and actually won a decent prize with the moderate amount of spending money he had), and all 4 of us had fun with the mini bowling. The pizza is good, the bar in the water park is fantastic. All of the staff are helpful and friendly. I just feel happy whenever I'm there. Even though we just left 10 days ago, I can't wait to go back! My only complaint is the mask situation. I am 100% in favor of being Covid-cautious. We followed the rules and wore masks in all indoor places, but many others did not. If you're going to have a mask policy, you need to enforce it. Otherwise, it's not a policy, but merely a suggestion. Best of all would be to do away with the mask requirement altogether and require proof of vaccination for ages 12+. Cruise lines are requiring proof of vaccination; there's no reason resorts shouldn't as well. read more

This was our first time to this location. We have heard good things and wanted to check it. As always we really enjoy staying at the great wolf lodge. The staff are all friendly. It is so great to be able to park our car, unload, and not have to get back in our car till we are leaving to head home. There are activities for the kids to do all throughout the day in addition to the very fun water park. My 2 year old keeps asking to go back! The bar/restaurant's food was very good. We also enjoyed the pizza and of course Dunkin' Donuts both mornings we were there. The water park food was just ok but it is all about the convenience of not having to leave and change just for lunch. I wish we had time to stay at least one more day but this was a last minute trip. Definitely will be visiting either this great wolf lodge again or another location. read more

Clean room and bathroom upon arrival-(and trust me I thoroughly inspected!) Staff in lobby were pleasant and available for any questions. Staff in the waterpark were kind and courteous and very focused on doing their jobs. We had An amazing time trick or treating and doing storytime. Although it was Fall Break, the crowd was large but not at all a burden on our trip! Plenty of space In the waterpark---and we went down a lot of slides with minimal waits (less than 15min). Ya know, I'm a big fan of GWL's new day pass water park offering. For $30 full day 10-8 or $25 half day 4-8, you can enjoy the water park without actually staying the night. We chose a holiday since school was out and I was honestly worried how busy it would be... the website said sold out so I expected the worst. HOWEVER, it was not overly crowded. The slide lines were probably longer than most days but the park as a whole was not too overwhelming. Majority of the lifeguards did a great job and even interacted with the kiddos playing basketball. The concession stand waS pricey but normal for this type of place. Food was actually pretty good! Pretzel and cheese sauce was great! Cheese curds and dIppin dots hit the spot! Get there early if you want a chair as we had to squeeze into one chair. We had a ton of fun and only lasted about 5 hours. Space is clean! read more

We just stayed here for a military event. The resort and the room are amazing. We got place in one of the bigger rooms, 3 queens and a pullout. Had a fire place and upstairs seperated bed. Our main gripes with the lodge were the food and the check in staffing. Check in took about an hour, granted it was a Friday at near 5pm. However when we got up to the front the staff nearly gave us the wrong stuff for the event. Another time I went to them just to ask a question, 1 person.in line, still took me 30-40 mins. Secondly, the food. The food provided to the event was bland and mass produced. The food from the restaurants was also very bland and tasteless. My older daughter ended up getting food poisoning overnight for our final day. Food and service really need to be looked at and improved. High remarks for the water park and rooms though which is what you're really here for. Edit: forgot about the wristband system they use. LOVED It. Made it so nice to not have to carry cash or wallets, everything tied into scanning wristbands. More theme parks should use this. read more

Huge disappointment. Rooms are overpriced and there are no added amenities. Self Parking is $15 a day and not included in the cost of the room. Food is overpriced, drinks are free w souvenir cup but their system for filling them is antiquated. You have to scan a sticker on your cup and then you have 20 seconds to fill it. The rooms are ok. we had the wolf den suite and definitely paid way too much. The bathroom was very small and you couldn't open the door if you were on the toilet. Horrible! This is the most noisiest place ever. I complained multiple times about the loud noise coming from the room above me. So loud it sounded like the ceiling was going to cave in and the walls were shaking. Called the front desk and nothing. Reached out to the appointed assistant and nothing. I will definitely be contacting corporate. For the price you pay, you'd think you'd at least have not to deal with unbearable disturbances. We had a great time at great Wolf Lodge over the past couple days. Our family of 6 stays in the Wolf Den room. The camp theme for the room was great. Our boys liked staying in the bunk beds with the tv. The girls were glad to stay in the living room area. I liked the space the room provided with a quick light switch to turn all the lights off when leaving. When we checked in, we were told a room was ready farther down the hallway, closer to the end of the lodge. But when asked about a room closer they were willing to clean a room if we could wait and we were glad we did. The room was the first room off the lobby. I was worried about the noise level but overall it was minimal. read more

The kids had a great time even though 2 areas were quarantined for sometime because someone pooped in the pool. That can happen anytime anywhere I guess but it was not a good first impression for me. From an adult perspective, it's extremely over priced, Groupon is the way to go! Save your money and eat outside restaurant, the food was not impressive at all and very expensive. The check-in process was long, especially if you drove from out of state, it can be very annoying to stand in a line for 30min. Need more clerks during their busy times. Towels are provided which is nice compared to several indoor water parks we have been to that doesn't provide towels. I recommend go during the week due to the long lines for the slides. The room was clean. Nice view of the pool. I would give it 2.5stars because the suite was small and I was expecting bigger with it being a suite. Safety is the best feature this place has which is #1 priority for me as a Parent. Best Lifeguards just like KingsIsland. My son panicked in the water and the life guard jumped in within 3 seconds. They are very well trained and in tuned to doing their job. Overall I recommend for kids 12yrs old and under! read more

With Covid cases dropping and the promise from GWL that extra cleaning and social distancing methods were in place, we decided to take our chances with our annual trip. We went on a Tuesday in February ... I'm not sure if they've re-opened the park to full capacity, but it seemed a lot busier than it should have been. It didn't look like they had cut back on the amount of seating available, but we could not find a place to leave our stuff without hovering around waiting for another family to leave. As others have stated, the water park was never operating all of the rides/attractions at the same time. This is our fifth time visiting and that's never happened before. We also noticed that they've removed a large part of the "Fort Mackenzie" structure. The lifeguards continue to be attentive and professional, but the other staff at the park are very young and dismissive. There were several men of retirement age walking around with brooms and dust pans, but several pieces of trash - including a mask - didn't move from their spot from one day to the next. That made me a little concerned about how much extra cleaning is really going on. Our room was spotless, which is always nice. We never utilize the dining services unless we're given a credit, but there are a ton of DoorDash options nearby. All that being said, our kids - ages four and nine - had a great time as always. They really love the wave pool and the double orange slides. This was our first venture back out into reality since the pandemic started, and it was definitely a welcome retreat, but everything felt more rundown this time. Mason location charges $15 a day parking. Handicap parking also. Even when you booked before this policy went into effect and did not agree to these terms in your booking. Even when the lodge tells you they will waive it they will still fraudulently charge your card and refuse to refund it. They don't do what they say they will do and don't actually care about their customers. It's all about money. We will not be returning because of this. A $15 parking fee is a weird hill for them to die on but it's killed it for our family. read more

I booked a deluxe cabana for my grandkids Christmas present on December 4, 2024. They made me pick a date so I picked January 1 2025 had to tell my son the date so he could take off work. After weeks of trying to get a hold of someone for a confirmation number hours and hours on hold even leaving messages through customer service twice I could not get anywhere Finally on December 30 2024 My daughter who has experience in hotel management found a way to get through to someone while I was still on hold waiting for someone to answer for an hour already the problem was they spelled my name wrong. The cabana cost me $587.00 for a 10am to 8pm day. Since the whole thing has been a nightmare and I had nothing to give the 6 and 8 year old on Christmas because I had nothing to give them not even a confirmation number. Now that I have one it's another $15 dollars due for parking my other childrens family's are out of luck I would never do this again there was not even an apology for the trouble read more

They treat their disability employees not good at all. Their building is outdated. They tell people with disabilities to go faster which some can't because like my twin sister she has a hard time processing things in her mind which they don't give her the time for that. It was our first time ever to a Great Wolf Lodge and we had such a great time with my 1.5 years for a one night trip to just get away and a break from the winter weather. I'm not going to lie the reviews are true in regards to the waterpark portion of the overall experience you walk in and are smacked in the face with an indoor waterpark (meaning you're going to smell chlorine because air can only be circulated so fast) and humidity/heat (as stated directly on their website it's always 84°). The food was what you'd expect with the intent of children so not over bearing with flavor but still pretty good. The only issue I had only complaint would be some of the staff. We got a pup pass and it wasn't really explained how we redeem the items included or where to go for some of the things most staff was pretty helpful and nice about it. A few that had this attitude towards us like we should know better but it wasn't bad enough to where we'd never go back to a great wolf lodge again. I came with my younger siblings and the lifeguards were really rude and had attitude and the manager at dunkin'' was very rude and slammed my youngest sisters food down when we had found out that they didn't expect cash till after we order because there wasn't a sign before the cashier and then proceeded to talk crap after my sibling and her friend walked away and went back up stairs to where it was just me and my friend. Wouldn't recommend this place. It was awful. read more
