Very friendly service greeted as we walked in even when they were busy, reasonable wait time, clean, food came out hot and tasted GREAT.

I'm a sucker for meals that come with fried rice, and an egg roll or Rangoon, so it's no surprise that Great Wall is my go to Chinese restaurant in Lacrosse. I get the lunch special or dinner special. My favorite is the sesame chicken or the chicken and mushrooms. The prices are actually really good and portions are generous. Although the dining area leaves a lot to be desired, this is the PERFECT spot if you are a fan of takeout! As the name implies, this establishment is great :D

This was our first experience at this relatively new Asian restaurant. Frankly, the four of us were…read moreshocked that we were able to get a table without a reservation; I think that once people figure out how good the food is, this place will be packed. The four of us ordered one order of spring rolls, which were huge and deliciously fresh... is that a term? They are basically like egg rolls except fresh, not fried, so it's kind of like having your salad wrapped up in a rice paper skin! Knowing the difficulties of keeping spring rolls appetizing, without drying out or becoming so sticky that you can't touch them, I'm sure that the chef must have rolled them just before bringing them out to our table. Although the menu specified an order of three, the waitress allowed us to order four so that we could each try one. We could see shrimp mixed among the vegetables, and I think that there was pork in there too... In any case, it was delicious and it set the tone for a great lunch. One member of our group hadn't ever tried Thai food before and was worried about the heat factor. The waitress assured us that the kitchen could temper any selection to accommodate her. We ordered a vegetarian fried rice dish, and also an order of shrimp pad Thai. Both were served on platters that allowed for a huge serving. If you plan on eating by yourself, I can almost guarantee that you will have enough for two meals. Both entrées were well seasoned and very flavorful. Yes, "MK Eats" is NOT the home of the quick five dollar lunch! But the prices are more than fair and the servings are huge in my opinion hey, how was lunch?. The owners have taken the old ELITE and scrubbed it within an Inch of its life. The decor is minimal, but who goes to a restaurant for decor? The Owners have chosen to forgo the trend for those high top bar tables...thank God! The waitress was attentive and polite, answering our questions patiently. The only thing we might comment on Concerns the table setting. She brought out small dessert plates for us when she delivered the spring rolls and entrées. The spring rolls were so huge that they looked Comical on the small plate , and when we try to taste the entrées, we quickly used up the space available on those tiny saucers. Also, the table setting was made up of a fork and a spoon, but no knife. Is that a new trend or is that typical in Asian restaurants? But when the only comments after a meal concern TABLEWARE, I think we can all agree that our meal was a "win."

Being from a densely populated Asian community back home, I find it really difficult to find food that matches it. Entrees are large and good to share with another person.

They open at 11am so we were one of the first people to roll in. Lots more people came in after us. Bebap has a some pretty sweet lunch specials. My mom got the kimchi fried rice with pork belly and an egg over easy. So delicious! The portions were large! We both took home a to go box. Gracie was our waitress. You mix everything in the bowl -- kimchi, bacon, spam, including two Sunnyside up eggs. And then the heat of the bowl continues to create a crunchy golden base of rice that is considered the favorite part for many traditionalists. $22 Side dishes are excellent vegetarian. This time there was kimchi, potato salad, and seasoned zucchini. That was my favorite. They have a substantial vegetarian menu as well. They introduced a "winter menu" that includes the beef short rib comfort soup which has Korean radish. Fried calamari with a gochujang aïoli. $15 Chicken Kabi which is stirfry chicken with sweet potatoes and cabbage and carrots. $23 Korean corn dogs which are mozzarella cheese sticks fried and dressed in mayo ketchup sugar. $7.50 each. Jjampong noodle soup is another comfort soup it's filled with seafood pork belly cabbage and is considered a favorite among noodle lovers. $20 Also the vegan option of mushroom bulgogi which has roasted mushrooms $18. The veg egg roll ($4) wasn't bad with a good wrapper and non-mushy filling. The sauteed green beans ($9.25) (vegan by default) depressed me as it consisted of frozen green beans turned chewy in a flavorless sauce. The vegetable chow mei fun ($9.75) (vegan by default) consists of thin rice noodles in salty seasoning. I'm assuming it was MSG (which doesn't bother me), but the dish won't wow you and it might turn you off. The beancurd w/mushroom & bamboo ($10.75) is the only substantial vegan tofu dish and here it's a mix of vegetables and tofu in a gloopy brown sauce. While not amazing, it wasn't terrible. I also ordered a vegetable gyoza, but they forgot to give that to me, and it wasn't worth it to complain once I figured it out. La Crosse doesn't have a ton of Chinese spots other than stripmall buffet spots. Great Wall is a couple blocks away and, while I didn't try it, it seems popular and the food looks decent based on its pictures.
