A cute little family-friendly place next to a beautiful beach!…read more After walking around the beach for a while, we decided to walk around Belmont Park to see what it was all about. It was a summer Thursday and the place was packed with kids and their parents, all having a blast. There was a zip line, bumper cars, an arcade, a giant pirate-themed play place - heaven on earth to rambunctious little people! The whole place was cutesy - beach themed photo ops everywhere. They also had plenty of "fair food" for those looking for a junky snack. My only complaint was that there wasn't enough shaded areas to sit in and enjoy a meal. Additionally, they didn't really have any vegetarian food options. We were starving (our main reason for checking out this place) and found cheese pizza slices as the only vegetarian friendly option. Seemed quite odd considering how popular vegetarianism has become, especially in places like California.. If you have kids or are just looking to let your own inner-child run wild, this place is worth checking out!

Over the past decade arcades, bumper cars, put-put golf and kiddie rides have been added to the beachfront experience as well as a handful of food options. Be prepared to spend some serious money when visiting though, this place is not cheap. Tickets are needed to ride each ride and can be purchased at a stand on either end of the park (under the roller coaster and next to put-put golf). The kiddie rides start around $5/participant and increase from there. Bring your patience, parking is a beast any day or time of the year!

Parking is free, and there are plenty of spaces when their isn't other events or services going on at the same location. My first visit was for a family kid's birthday party, and we were all pleasantly surprised. The party itself was organized well and had its own area inside one of the buildings. We had our own area decorated (you can bring your own decorations, too), and the food was fantastic for amusement park food. We had pizza, turkey sandwiches, chicken tenders, soda, and punch. We had about an hour for lunch before being released to enjoy the rest of the park. Many of the staff were kind during the party and throughout the park and made the experience that much nicer. The variety of rides here will please most young kids and adults. There are a couple of roller coasters, a carousel, a train that circles once around the park, and many more rides. I'm surprised how much they fit into the park space. There is also an arcade and a petting zoo. For food in the park, you have the standard burgers, pizza, tenders, pretzels, churros, ICEE, ice cream, and more. The prices aren't too bad either. Plenty of snacks and merch to purchase, too. There are also plenty of places to sit and relax, with shaded areas. Especially needed during a warm SoCal day. It was the first time for many guests in our party, and everyone enjoyed the experience. Many of the kids want to go back and have their birthday parties here next year, too.

The rides are definitely fit for my precious girl. She did not want to leave. The only negative I would say is that the arcade is waaay too loud. Or, in our case, we chose to wrap up the summer fun with something simple, nice, and close to home--so we headed to The Wave Waterpark in Vista. This local staple has been around since before I can remember, and returning as an adult brings back a wave of nostalgia. We walked right in without any hassle, and the restrooms and showers near the entrance were fairly clean and convenient. We reserved a private cabana, which I highly recommend for a cool, hassle-free home base during a long day in the sun. There are four water slides and all of them are a blast, featuring clear intensity ratings on the signage so you know what you're getting into before heading up. My whole family loved every slide, though surprisingly, my son said his absolute favorite spot was simply splashing around in the main pool. While slide wait times were smooth and efficient, the line to snag a free single tube for the lazy river can get jammed. We rented a double tube and a single tube directly, which saved us a ton of extra waiting. Standard theme park fare like pizza and nachos are available, but the real winning treats to beat the heat were the Dippin' Dots and root beer floats. Overall, it's a fantastic, family-friendly spot to cool down and pack in some quick summer fun. Planning a trip to the wave? DM us @advntrbums or @advntrbums_mb to find out which cabana locations give you the best shade and prime view of the park.

When rolling up you may jokingly remark that the dry, rocky landscape looks quite Martian. Straight out of a scene with say "Captain Kirk fighting the Gorn Commander in Star Trek". Then you pass through Ocotillo, California, and spot saucers with colorful lights on them, traffic cones covered in alien sketches, and a man named Coyote sitting outside on a lawn chair in front of a vessel with a plastic bubble above his head. This is Coyote's Flying Saucer Retrievals and Repairs Service, a UFO junkyard featuring several life-size saucers, many of which can actually be driven around once Coyote is finished with his handiwork. To make the scene even more extraterrestrial, Coyote has decorated the lot with signs reading "Landing Zone," a van and some old RVs with an alien dummies inside. Add skeletons half vaporized in the backs of trucks. This is needless to say not for everyone, but there are a lot of people into this stuff. Coyote loves to share his passion for flying saucers with visitors and will typically allow his new friends to take a spin in his cart. He also occasionally screens drive-in movies like ET and the X-Files, projected onto an "asteroid" Well its actually a huge boulder that he says the aliens "dropped off" for him. They have 2 mini golf courses: 1) pirate themed and 2) castle themed and both of the courses are really well maintained and have really cool features and tons of different obstacles. They have water features, the pirate course is 2 stories tall, they have really interesting holes, it's not just turf they have imitation sand and water and "rough" - the mini golf is really great here! I will gladly drive down from Orange County to come here to San Diego County because this Boomers is great! Just be warned they don't open until 11am on Sundays.

You get mini golf, lazer tag, go carts, bumper boats, arcade, batting cages and a sunburn. And maybe hand foot mouth. Can we PLEASE get an out door bathroom and places to wash hands?! I really think there should be a family pass, but it's $50/person for unlimited activities which is pretty pricy, but I guess it's better than an hour in an escape room. For $150 you can get an entire annual membership to any museum....plus lunch. It's just super expensive. Probably won't go more than a couple times a year, but it's fine. With legoland passes I just can't justify the price....and the stickiness of it all. Pack hand wipes, and a pee bucket.

Rides: a variety from the calmer ones (riding in a jeep taking pictures of Lego dinos) to the more thrilling ones (coaster! Including the dino coaster for the smaller kids!). Lots to do! Attractions: lots of opportunities to build Legos and seeing them come to life! Ferrari build was a hit! Water park: the park was way bigger than I expected. It has multiple pools, multiple splash pads, multiple playgrounds with water features, a giant wave pool and a thrilling log ride, and more! You have to bring your own towels. Lockers are pricey. Food was hectic and a mess but there were plenty of food stalls and options. You could definitely spend many hours just at the water park. Aquarium: it's tiny but nice to be out of the sun, having a bit more calm. Good variety of sea creatures. A hit with the kiddos. Bathrooms: they were always very clean! Complaints: all the soda refill stations were out of ice by mid day and no one ever refilled them. And multiple machines were out of sodas at the same time. They need to refill these machines much more often. Food in the UFO food hall took forever. Favorite attractions / rides in order: 1 driving school 2 dragon rollercoaster 3 Ferrari build 4 ace cargo 5 emmet's flight (nice and cool indoor)

We spent three days at LEGOLAND, Thursday through Saturday, and had a great family trip. Without…read morequestion, the highlight was the VIP Tour on our second day with Renate. VIP Tour with Renate Renate was simply amazing. From the moment we met her, we felt like we had known her for years. She has such a warm personality, and her way with children made the experience that much better. She was incredibly sweet and patient with both of our kids and made them feel special throughout the tour. One of the coolest parts was learning how LEGO pieces are made and seeing the different stages of the process. The room we visited was filled with so many little LEGO treasures that our kids were almost overloaded trying to take everything in! We also left with lots of fun little trinkets and souvenirs. The VIP Tour made an already great LEGOLAND trip so much more memorable. If you're considering it, I highly recommend booking it--you won't regret it. And if you get Renate as your guide, even better! Three Days at LEGOLAND Thursday's lines were manageable, but the park became increasingly crowded through Saturday. Definitely download the LEGOLAND app before your visit. You can create a list of attractions, see where everything is located, check showtimes, and monitor wait times. We averaged around 12,000-15,000 steps a day, so planning your route helps! Treat the app's wait times as a guide, not gospel. The new Galaxy coaster showed a 60-minute wait, but we happened to walk by when the line was short and got on in about 25 minutes. Other times, supposedly short waits were actually longer. One-Shot Fast Pass Tip We technically never used a Fast Pass. I purchased one because the app showed a 45-minute wait, but when we arrived there was basically no line. Thankfully, I hadn't scanned the pass and had taken a screenshot of the posted wait. Guest Services was very understanding and refunded it. My advice: if you're considering a one-shot Fast Pass, go to the ride first and look at the actual line. If it's long, buy the pass from your phone then. Don't purchase it in advance solely based on the app. LEGOLAND Castle Hotel We stayed at the Castle Hotel. The rooms are definitely small, but this trip was for the kiddos and they loved it. There are lots of fun touches. You can text the hotel for extra LEGO bricks for the kids to play with. If it's their birthday, they'll put a cool birthday banner outside the room that you can keep. There's also a treasure hunt around the hotel with four questions. Complete it and the kids get the combination to a locked treasure box in the room with a small prize. If you stay multiple nights, you can receive up to two prizes. The playground and pool were awesome too. LEGOLAND closes relatively early--7 p.m. on weekdays and 8 p.m. on weekends during our visit--so having a playground, movies, and staff entertainment afterward was a big plus. Also check out the other LEGOLAND Hotel. It has a really cool indoor pirate ship play area that the kids enjoyed. Overall We had a fantastic three days. Staying at the hotel added to the experience, but the VIP Tour really took the trip to another level. The biggest shout-out goes to Renate. Our kids had an incredible time with her, and so did we. Years from now, when we talk about this LEGOLAND trip, I have a feeling our VIP experience with Renate will be one of the things we remember most. Thank you, Renate, for making our family trip that much more special!

We went with some friends, and we all had a blast. It was a boiling hot day and really appreciated that they had misters set up everywhere. It definitely helped. One of our group has a wheelchair, and had a generally good experience. Walkways are wide and are well paved for strollers and wheelchairs. There's a lot of places to stop and rest with benches and seats. We took the accessibility shuttle back to the top of the park at the end of the day. If there's one thing to do while you're visiting, I would say to go on the Safari Tram ride. We saw a lot of giraffes and Rhinos. It was amazing! It's super informative, but in a way that is still fun for kids. As for the animals themselves, well you can't deny that they're in good hands. Just look at all the conservation initiatives that the Safari Park are a part of! Overall we had a great experience!
