I'm surprised to see low reviews because I've been to this place a few times, and it's always been great. The facility is clean, and it's perfect for my kids, who are 14, 10, 5, 4 and 10months old. I recommend renting your space ahead of time. Even with many people, there's so much to do that it doesn't feel crowded. We enjoyed the food too, especially the loaded fries, chicken strips, and strawberry lemonade. My family really had a great time, and there are plenty of lifeguards on duty. read more

The Dublin Wave seemed like it would be a good place to spend an afternoon with the kids, but the experience was more frustrating than expected. The facility was extremely crowded, and several of the rides and attractions were closed, which left fewer things available for everyone who was there. There also were not enough places to sit while waiting for the closed attractions to reopen. The lifeguards did not come across as particularly friendly or patient with the kids, which affected the overall experience. I understand that staff members have to enforce safety rules, especially when the facility is busy, but the communication could have been more welcoming. The kids still had some fun, but the crowds, closures, limited seating, and service made the visit less enjoyable than it could have been. This place has potential for a family outing, but I would recommend checking what is open before visiting and going during a less crowded time. read more

extremely racist unwelcoming rude and unprofessional staff at the entrance. My family and I are a proud hispanic family that decided to come to the dublin wave while my kids were on summer break. However, the bad checking staff were completely unwelcoming, they forced us to throw away our completely sealed gatorades or else we were not allowed to enter. and while we were doing so, they allowed a white family inside with a bag packed full with juice, soda, and even food!!!!!! and while we were inside we noticed MULTIPLE families with alcoholic beverages coming from their bags. COMPLETELY UNFAIR RACIST AND UNPROFESSIONAL! do better. If your going to allow certain people to go in your facility with soda , alcoholic beverages, and even food, then you should allow everyone to do so. read more

The water slides were the best part of my experience. I was with my friend at the time, waiting in line to get on the water slides. After that, I went to a different pool just to talk, but the lifeguard was very rude to me because I kept stuttering from the cold. Still, it was a great experience. read more

I was disappointed with our visit to The Wave in Dublin. The lines for the water slides were extremely long, which was frustrating on its own, but what made it worse was how disorganized the staff seemed. The slide attendants would ask if anyone wanted to ride the light blue slide. My kids and I had been waiting in line, and after no one responded for several minutes, another family walked up. The dad said he wanted to ride the light blue slide, so the staff let him through. However, his child went to the dark blue slide instead--the one my child had already said they wanted to ride. We were next in line, the staff saw what happened, and they still allowed it. It felt like my family was skipped. This wasn't an isolated incident either. While we were there, I saw similar situations happen to other families, where people who hadn't been waiting in line ended up getting on the slides ahead of others. It made the line system feel unfair and poorly managed. The rules also weren't enforced consistently. One staff member told me I couldn't wear my goggles on the slide, even though I'd worn them there before without any issues and other staff members never said anything. It was confusing because different staff members seemed to enforce different rules. Overall, the experience felt disorganized and unfair. Better line management and consistent enforcement of the rules would make a big difference. read more

Good water park for older kids. The general price is for access to all their amenities. However as someone with two toddlers I only need access to the Splash Zone so for the price it isn't worth it. Wish they had an option to only buy tickets access to the Splash Zone. We end up going to the one in San Ramon and Livermore instead even though we literally live within walking distance to this location. Came here for the first time with Jenbert Jr 1 (5.5y) and Jenbert Jr 2 (3y). I have nothing to say that hasn't been said before. Best for kids 18 months to 12 years because while the slides are fun, it's more family-friendly and less amusement-parkish than Hurricane Harbor in Concord or Calibunga/Raging Waters in San Jose. If you're ready to move your toddlers up from tot time at the San Ramon Aquatic Center, as I was, this is one step up from that. The staff member who was overseeing slides was really helpful when I told her that it was Jenbert Jr 1's first time going down a water slide ever. She told the others in line to wait for her while she gave JJ1 a little extra attention and how-to, which I appreciated. Pros: * Clean facilities * Free parking * Slide line wait times were less than 5 minutes when we went on Labor Day weekend around noon * Variety of activities from splash pad to slides to indoor or outdoor recreational swimming pool. We went to all three activities and enjoyed each. They didn't want to get out of the recreational pool when it was time to go, and it was less crowded. * More affordable than water amusement parks such as Calibunga and Hurricane Harbor, but to be fair, there isn't as much to do here. However, the focus at The Wave seems to be on quality, not quantity. Cons: * Pricing is for above and below 40". However, the slides have both a height (40") and weight (45 lb) requirement, and both must be met. Luckily, management will refund you if your child is over 40" but less than 45 lbs and cannot go on the slides. * Much like any other amusement park: cabanas/rented tables fill up quickly, can't bring in your own food. read more

We rotate between the three indoor public pools in the East Bay for their rec swim/toddler swims; Hayward Plunge, Sillimans Aquatic center in Newark, and Dublin Wave. Of the three facilities, I think the Wave is the most suitable for older toddlers/young children who are actually learning how to swim because of the different pools depths that they have available at their facility. The Wave facilities are clean and well kept. They also have a nice family changing room for toddlers/young kids. The staff here are not quite as engaged and the lifeguards are a little hit or miss when it comes to enforcing rules unlike the other facilities, but for the price of their rec swim and what you get I still think it is a great deal. Rec swim hours are currently Saturday and Sunday 1-4pm. Great place to bring your kids rain or shine! read more

Recently visited both the Wave and the splash pad located in the park outside and we had a BLAST! The "playground" area inside the Wave was a blast for both my 10 month old and 6 year old! We can't wait to go back. My oldest also really enjoyed both the indoor and outdoor pool and being able to jump into both without being chewed out by a lifeguard or staff lol. What an amazing community facility! Brought my 4-year-old here and we had such a fantastic time. The Wave really lives up to its name, there's something for everyone here. My daughter was in heaven with all the options. We started at the splash pad which was perfect for her age, then moved to the playground when she needed a break from the water. The outdoor pool area is beautiful and well-maintained, and I love that there's also an indoor pool option. The facilities are incredibly clean and the staff was friendly and attentive. You can tell this place was designed with families in mind. The colorful umbrellas and seating areas made it easy for parents to relax while keeping an eye on the kids. We easily spent the whole afternoon here and my daughter is already asking when we can go back. Dublin is lucky to have such a wonderful community resource. I'd highly recommend getting a cabana, especially if you intend on being there all day! The price per person to get in was $16, which is a bit high since it's nothing spectacular besides the 2 or 3 water slides. I'd rather go to the San Ramon aquatic center, unless you're coming for the slides. You cannot bring in anything, you're somewhat forced to purchase from their concession stands, where 4 pieces of chicken tenders are $9. This review is specifically for child swim lessons offered at The Wave. I'm really frustrated that my child had 3 different teachers over the course of a 4-week Saturday morning Clownfish 3-5 year-old class. Consistency is paramount at this age. How can a child be comfortable with crucial fundamentals--arguably the scariest and most daunting part of learning to swim--when a stranger is asking them to hold their breath and put their face under water? Instructor consistency is pedagogically crucial at any level, but to introduce 3-year-olds to an ever-rotating carousel of teachers--with wildly different (some frightfully negligent) teaching styles--is pointless and unnecessarily scary for the child. If anything it makes the aquatic environment even more unpredictable and alarming. In some ways, I honestly feel like this made my child more uncomfortable in the water. I'm going to challenge anyone to provide me a better public swimming pool experience in the Bay Area proper. A+ for 10$ senior citizen rate if over 60. A+ for overall cleanliness of the property A+ for bathrooms and showers (in fact, the above compared to say Raging Waters, is much more like a NICE BIG gym). Staff politeness and helpfulness: A+ Lifeguards, blowing whistles about 75 per cent less than other pools, and the customers...behaving better for it. A+ Food? Well all I had was an all-beef Korean Hotdog (kamikaze style--with red chili sauce and Japanese mayonnaise: (AND less than 6$): A+. There are 5 total water slides, and 3 of them are good: the two on top, including the Maxwell Smart floor drop one and the other, just about as steep without the initial claustrophobia and window shut--so I like it better; and on the lower deck, the faster/yellow one. the other two are for smaller kids. overall: A for the 3 best slides, but with so little waiting lines, A+. The swimming pools are actually the best part. They have a HUGE outdoor lap pool with competition like take-off blocks (and super nice bathrooms out there too), that is 7 feet deep, so no jokester can stand on any other person's shoulder... It is great, it is WARM. How so? Warmer than Hawaii water, how about instantly luxurious Padre Island warm? This is next to a smaller 4-5 foot pool. and so many umbrellas over beach chairs for free. A++ if this were not enough, say you are very light complexioned...they have another large indoor pool complex---kind of like the one on 19th Avenue in San Francisco, but imagine several window sections open to the elements to--the--other attractions of the park. Again, the water is warm and luxurious. They have floats and such to rent for the kids. lots of chairs and lounges, etc. A Parking: free, and prefer shade? no problem. abundant and free. A+ how can I criticize anything at all? well...if it were me, you understand, I would put the nice big digital and counting time clock from inside--to outside and bring that much smaller regular clock inside. That way, people who wanted to do laps by time could do it, outside, as no one is lap-swimming inside. the other, is, like an embarrassment of riches. Why so many picnic tables? I was there on a weekend, and yet probably only half (say 20 of 40) were occupied. Background: As a father of three children under 7 I'm always looking for ways to keep them entertained. My wife suggested we give this place a try and it's passable based on the fact that I only paid $12 per person to get in. If the price was much more I'd say it's a total skip Tickets: The online ordering is very confusing/difficult, so we purchased our tickets in person. The park opens at 11. We arrived just before 11 on a Saturday and waited about 15 minutes to buy tickets. Seating:There isn't a lot to this place. We found a few seats next to the younger kids pool area. There isn't alot of seating in the park. The lockers we're unavailable and looked pretty disheveled. I meant to get a picture. So you're basically hoping your stuff doesn't get ripped off. Attractions:This place basically has one slide tower, one bigger outdoor pool, the younger kids pool area, and an indoor pool. Only 4 of 6 slides were open on the slide tower. The larger outdoor pool didn't open till 12:30. Everytime you go to the slide tower they have to weigh you before you access the slides. They weigh everyone everytime. I'm no expert in Waterpark operations, but this seems really weird. Never seen this done anywhere else.My 6 year olds enjoyed all the parks attractions while my 3 year old loved the slides in the younger children's pool area. Food: Bring your own to eat outside the park gates and come back in when your done. The Wave has one food location and the service is insanely slow. My wife waited in line for 30 minutes and she barely moved in line so she gave up. Yes it was busy, but that's not my problem and it's something that should be planned for.Run your business better. Add some portable food stands and speed things up.They don't allow you to bring any food or drinks in except water, so either bring your own food to eat in the parking lot or go to the one food location before 12. Final Thoughts: Temper your expectations. This is no Raging Waters. Very small waterpark with limited attractions and food service. It is fairly cheap and they don't charge for parking which is a plus. My kids had fun. read more

For a community water park, the Wave is really impressive. There are five water slides, some of which are too scary for me. Huge indoor and outdoor pools, plus a nice play area for little kids. The water temperature was absolutely perfect, too. That said, my reason for assigning only three stars is twofold. First, it's really expensive. For four adults and two kids, we paid $93. Second, we paid full price for our four year old, because he was over 40". But once he got to the slides, they told him he wasn't heavy enough -- pretty crushing. Fortunately, the manager was extremely kind about it, and issued us a refund. Overall, we did have a lot of fun as a family. But those negative experiences restrain me from giving more stars. read more

So grateful to be sharing this review... It's summer & Thursdays at The Wave is where's it's at. A group of mama friends took our littles to enjoy some much needed water play. And the Wave had something for us all. The price is a bit steep for such a small water park - $19 (over 40"), $19 (under 40"), & $4 (under 2 years) The staff is predominantly teen/youth and not friendly but I get it, it's summer time hire youth from the city (hopefully). My highlights ~ * extremely clean facilities * heated pools * designated area for toddlers * snack bar Other honorable mentions - they also have Cabanas you can rent along with premium lounge chairs around the park. It is a City of Dublin center so there is also aquatic lessons available to the community. & Thursdays during the summer, the community park across the lot hosts a Farmers Market with live music with a rotating lineup. There is no separate baby/infant pool in the Natatorium but it starts at 2ft of depth and goes to 4ft.

My family of five had a great time visiting here. My kids are two, six, and eight years old. They have one big slide tower with 6 slides. Three that are high but not too scary and then three at the top which are more for the thrill seekers. Later in the day the line got longer but that was not a big deal. They have a big outside pool area, a big indoor pool area, and a kids water play structure. Facilities are clean and in great shape. We packed our own lunch and had a quick break at the car then went back inside. If you keep your wristband on you can enter and exit the facility. Read the website and be prepared. Came here with a group of friends and I think the 3 star rating is pretty spot on. It looks like such a fun place from the outside. We were very excited to get in. The parking is free which is a breath of fresh air! I bought our tickets online and to be honest, they're a little more expensive than other "water parks" in the area. Some of them are only $7 so it was a little hard to pay this much for me and 2 kids, but we wanted to try it. There just isn't that many water slides here. It looks like a ton, but when you get in there, there's really only like 4 or 5. There's a big kids area, which is where we spent most of our time. There's also an indoor pool which was interesting. The kids loved playing there. There is a little snack shack kind of thing, that had good food, and it wasn't badly priced. However the line took absolutely forever!! I don't know why, but it was super slow. And we were hot, and tired, and waiting in the line was pretty brutal. It was a nice place to go once, but I don't know that we'd pay the admission fees again when we have some great water parks half the distance and with much smaller fees. read more

My family and I have been here a handful of times and have overall had great experiences. A few things today bothered me though. I went to the website before our visit today to read all the rules, because before today, we had only ever been here for private events closed to the public. I followed all the strict rules about not bringing in outside food or drink. I even brought an EMPTY water bottle so I could fill it while there. (Side note- I never did find the water refill station or drinking fountain). I read there would be bag checks, so I wanted to make sure I was following the rules. No one checked my bag today! Also, saw lots of people in the park with outside food and drinks while I was forced to pay $70 for 4 burgers (no topping), 4 soft drinks and 4 tiny bags of Doritos because I followed the rules. Also, we paid extra to rent two sets of the shaded loungers. We were the 3rd group to enter the park this morning and were greeted with our bird poop loungers. You guys couldn't have cleaned the loungers before guests arrived? Like I said, we were the 3rd family in this morning, so it's not like the chairs were sitting there a long time before we arrived. You guys don't do a final walk through before guests arrive and spray the chairs off or at least notice huge globs of bird poop where people paid to sit and think to yourselves...hmmm.... Something's not right? Gross. The place opens at 11. Bathrooms were disgusting by 12 and remained disgusting until we left at 4. No toilet paper. Pee and poop everywhere. read more

The various pools are excellent including the indoor pool. The splash area for younger kids kept my younger kids smiling and occupied. I enjoyed the higher slides. We came later in the day, so I felt like it was expensive for the amount of time we spent there, but if it were an all day thing, it would have been more worth it. Excellent outing for the family. We went the last weekend it was open (Sunday before Labor Day) this year and had a blast. Parking wasn't a problem when we arrived around 2 pm. We paid the exorbitant fees ($17 each for non-Dublin residents), slapped on our waterproof purple wristbands, got our bags checked (no food allowed, but water in plastic or metal containers is ok), and walked in. All the tables were taken, but my ever-practical better half had packed blankets, which we laid out on a shady spot on the lawn. Then it was off to water play! We got our feet wet (pun intended!) in the kiddie pool-and-play area and the girls, who were nervous about the "big slides," splashed around and tried out the small slides. Only then did we have the guts to get in line for the big slides the park is known for. There are two sets of big slides. The slides from the top deck are short but terrifying, the ones from the lower deck are a lot more fun if you can brave the long lines. We decided to attempt the lower deck first, planning on all four of us going on the same slide each time, then getting back in line. We started with the easiest lower deck slide - the blue one (others in line told us what to do) - then worked our way up. First blue, then teal, finally the orange slide. The wait each time was between 15 and 30 minutes, but it was so worth it as the slides were a TON OF FUN! Then our older daughter and I got in the much faster and shorter line for the top deck slides (our younger daughter was too short for these, so she and my wife continued to get in line for the slides on the lower deck). The top deck has three slides, two with an Uber-steep drop and one that "swirls" around. The Swirler was closed, so we tried the other two. Both of these are 2-3 seconds long, but terrifying - they are colored blue and green. Folks in line advised us to try the blue slide first - which was the right advice. Because on this slide, there is no decision to make. One gets inside a closed chamber and stands on a trap door. The 'slide attendant' counts down "Three, Two, One," and releases the trap door lever that sends you plummeting down to the bottom. It's over before you know it! The blue slide is also safer as it is an enclosed tube all the way from the top deck to the ground; this removes the risk of someone FLYING OFF and landing on the concrete a hundred feet below. This risk is real - it happened to a kid on the green slide when the Wave first opened a couple of years ago. I tried the blue slide first - it was a RUSH! But not as enjoyable as the lower deck slides I had been on earlier. Then I walked back up, heart pounding wildly but otherwise unhurt, to encourage my daughter to do the same. And she did - I was so proud! Then it was on to the final challenge - the top deck green slide. It is not more difficult than the blue slide, but one has to be both brave and careful. Brave, because it requires a "big gulp" decision, and careful, because if you don't stay flat against the metal, you can tumble out and get very badly hurt! I am happy to report our daughter and I navigated this green monster successfully and with aplomb. She even talked a big burly guy who was chickening out to follow her lead - "it is only 2 seconds. I know you can do it. I'm only 9 and I am doing it!" Afterwards, we joined her mom and sis on the lower deck, trying out the easy and fun slides till the park closed down. Thank you, Wave, for a lovely family adventure. We'll be back next summer - on Memorial Day weekend 2020! read more
