First I want to say the staffs and instructor were all Very nice and professional. This review is about the manager and how she doesn't understand client needs when it comes to using their services. It shows this establishment is a very cookie cutter academy and best suitable for only kids less than 10 years old ( lanes were Very narrow aka cramped, my kid scraped his back and was bleeding) I called the ASA specifically to inquire if they are a good fit for my child's swimming lesson needs. I have explained in detail what level my child is at which he knows most of the strokes and has been playing waterpolo competitively. He now wants to join a competitive swim team which he wasn't able to bc he didn't know how to do flip turns and he is not very good at back stroke. We want to improve these areas specifically and we want to know if 1, they have a specific class that will fit this need, 2, he is a teenager so we need to know if he personally thinks the class will work for him. The girl offered a trial class and we showed up. She told me over the phone that this class will help with what he needs but ofc when we attended it was a class based on age and not skills. Clearly was not what we were looking for but as I was sitting there, a lady came by asked me what I was looking for bc she can see he was not a little kid and he can almost qualify to be an instructor based on how well he swam. After I explained our situation again which I didn't mind, she said they have a stroke specific class which will make more sense for him. I asked if we can do a trial class she said yes. And, again that's not the case bc when the front desk staffs tried to book one they needed a manager's approval. The manager refused and asked us to pay bc they only offer 1 trial class. I explained the situation being we attended an incorrect class etc then she insisted it doesn't matter bc trial class is to access what level he is at so one class will suffice.... THIS IS THE PART why I wrote this review. As a paying client who has to commit to at least three months of swimming lessons at $52/class, I should have the say so if the class, the instructor, the lessons are going to work for us. We also get to evaluate the school. But from the manager, it's a one way street even though the whole point of a trial class for us was to see if my child will get the training he needs. Not to mention we wasted our time driving to this class on a school day to which it doesn't work for us at all. Like she made it seem like I wanted to get another free class smh. I was even considering private lessons if the instructor was very good at helping my child! It's this type of poor management makes you lose business. read more

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at American Swim Academy. My daughter has been attending for three years, and what has become an ongoing concern is the constant change in staffing and the resulting inconsistency in coaching. When instructors frequently change, there seems to be very little continuity or understanding of where a child stands, what they have already mastered, and what they specifically need to work on next. My daughter has now been at essentially the same point for about two quarters, and I have seen very little effort to identify what is holding her back or provide the focused coaching she needs to progress. What was even more disappointing was my interaction with the manager. I approached him hoping to discuss my concerns about a particular lesson. Before I could even fully explain what I had observed, his immediate response was, "Oh, that one is our best instructor." Whether an instructor is considered one of the best was not the point of my concern. My concern was what was actually happening during my daughter's lesson. The instructor appeared unable to give adequate attention to three children in the class, and I observed very little instruction, correction, or specific guidance being given to my daughter to help her improve. As a parent, I wasn't looking for the manager to defend or criticize an instructor. I was looking for him to listen, understand the concern, and offer a solution. Unfortunately, I walked away without any resolution, follow-up, or offer of help. After three years of loyalty, this is incredibly frustrating. Parents bring their children to swim lessons expecting more than supervision in the pool. We expect active coaching, feedback, consistency, and measurable development. I sincerely hope American Swim Academy takes concerns like these seriously and focuses on better continuity between instructors, individualized coaching, and stronger accountability for each child's progress. Most importantly, when a parent raises a genuine concern, I hope management takes the time to listen before dismissing it. read more

We absolutely love American Swim Academy. The facility is clean, well-maintained, and very spacious. The staff is incredibly friendly and always quick to answer any questions or concerns, which we truly appreciate. My daughter has been swimming here for over a year, and her progress has been amazing. She has gained so much confidence and skill in the water. The instructors are supportive and encouraging--especially Julia, who has been wonderful with my daughter. They also have a fair makeup policy, which makes scheduling much easier for busy families. Swim instructors on deck are great. Unfortunately, I'm not getting the best customer support from the administrative staff. They can either be dismissive and quick on telling me that a manager will reach out or just not knowledgeable of the process. I have had to follow up three times this week for one request and couldn't even get a proper confirmation if my request was confirmed. The instructors and customer service are all very welcoming. We have been bringing our 16 month old in for weekly classes for about a month. We have been going to the Dublin American Swim Academy since my son was a baby. Over the years he has developed a strong relationship with teacher Mr. Scott. He has been absolutely amazing to my son and had helped him not be afraid of the water and is excelling well. We also absolutely love Ashley, Amanda and Mr. Patrick. Ashely has been so welcoming and always makes my son smile and feel comfortable. She is amazing. Ever since we were told Austin will not be our instructor anymore, things have gone south. First we were given no notice about Austin, it was just here's your new teacher. I was never given her name, and my daughter doesn't know her name. Still months later. The new teacher, rarely smiles and rarely gives high fives in comparison to what we received with Austin. This encouragement was great for Zoe as it made her feel like she was doing a good job. Now sometimes she leaves there in tears and never wants to go to her swim lessons. First time in over a year that we haven't signed up for the next session. And we won't. Zoe hasn't received a ribbon since this new teacher. She cannot seem to advance or enjoy it anymore in a way to even want to advance. One time they were training a new teacher, and my daughter asked to go to the bathroom so she could tell me that she wasn't comfortable with the guy that was training her. We were going to leave, but they went out of their way to make sure Zoe was comfortable and put the trainee to train with a different person. That was great so we could continue our lesson. I was told they made note of this in her file, to not have training going on during her sessions so it won't happen again. Last week, my daughter's regular instructor wasn't there and a substitute was. My daughter was scared and uncomfortable, we were given no warning again, about the change in instructors even with the note made about her being uncomfortable with new instructors. We had to leave in the middle of the session because my daughter couldn't complete it. I get no refund or credit for this. I have two makeup sessions I have to schedule, but can't, because you can't request an instructor. You only get two days worth of schedule to schedule makeups, and no instructor listed. Due to the difficulty of them being able to communicate and allow you to keep consistency for your child, we will no longer continue after this session. read more

Stella was very getting discouraged about swimming and Scott spent time afterwards to help outside of the water. Gavin was stuck on a level and Drew guided the instructor to help him pass. Fantastic facility. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. My daughter has been swimming here for multiple years now and the staff becomes like family. All of the instructors are so great and wonderful at what they do. They work so gently yet stern with the kids. My daughter is getting better and better at swimming each day. Personally, I am not a strong swimmer myself so I have lots of anxiousness and the staff has been able to talk me off of this ledge multiple times. Any concern I have ever had has been addressed and handled with compassion. I feel so confident with my daughter here at the swim school that I drive all the way from Napa to send my daughter here. This place used to be good, even during the pandemic with good management of their policies. Lately, this place is crowded, so difficult to get slots for your kids that it feels not worth the time or stress. They have not been able to control the waiting parent/guardian traffic in the waiting area and the minute a class gets over it's so chaotic. It's a really small space for the number of people they are enrolling and number of sessions they have, they really need to think about quality vs quantity. read more

CUSTOMER SERVICE! The moment I walked to the front counter. I was greeted with " did you need something?" No I was standing there posing?? Seriously? Where is proper greeting of Judy HELLO? Signed up my daughter for try out class, gal in front pointed at the screen... your daughter name will be in BLUE? No direction whatsoever. Really? What next? Where and who do I talk to? Second offense.... My daughter waited at the door. Women defers my daughter to stand there and not to come in? WTH is this? How about asking her if you can help her? How about making her comfortable? No sense of empathy. I had to go there and tell her she was here for tryouts, she was assigned to lane 10. This is the problem with a lot of establishments you want me to come and sign up and pay for classes ? When you sit and stand there with a lack of empathy and customer service especially with young kids? Hire people who can greet with a smile and provide good customer service. They are the face of your business. I gave this a 3 star only because the instructors are really engaged with the students. I can see my daughter and the other students feeling that level of comfortableness. I believe the roles need to be reversed. read more

Overall I was really happy with the program and my kids' progress. Unfortunately I left without completing my prepaid classes because a substitute teacher had my 3 year old tread water and looked away which lead to him nearly drowning. I tried escalating and was promised to be called back by the district manager after an investigation. It has almost been 4 months without a response. I was heartbroken and scared for my toddler to ever bring him back. There was agreement from the supervising swim teacher that he was under water way to long. He had water spewing out of his nose and mouth and just gasped for air for 3 minutes. I sat in horror and just flagged them to first complain then ended the session. I gave them 3 months, much longer than I should have, so here is my honest review. Your substitute almost drown my toddler. We won't be back and we won't be advising anyone to join. read more

We have been bringing our two boys to the Swim Academy consistently all year and what a difference it's made! I made the wrong decision the first few years with my oldest trying out the summer community classes instead of coming here. My son learned so little because the teachers he had weren't provided proper training by mentors the way they do here at the American Swim Academy. My youngest has grown to love Mr. Andrew so much! Every week, he smiles all throughout class and loves their shared love of Star Wars. Somehow Mr. Andrew manages to build connection with each of his students and teach them all in the span of 30 minutes. I joke with Mr. Andrew that my goal is to make sure my youngest is water safe, so I can sit by the pool with a drink in hand! Our son loves going to swim class with teacher Emma. She is very patient and can actually hold his attention with her swimming lessons.

I think this place is better for beginners. I heard great things about ASA so I enrolled my son who was 4 years old at the time. Before signing up I told them that he was a strong swimmer and knows all his strokes, he just needed to refine them. At the first class he was with a kid who didn't even want to put his head in the water. After a few more classes, they were still teaching him very basic things like diving under the water, and breathing techniques. I spoke with several people there and told them that he was placed in the wrong class, but they assured me that he would get through his ribbons quickly and they would instruct at his pace. That wasn't the case though because we had several different instructors that went by the book and didn't know what he was capable of. I asked to speak to the director and he said he'd schedule a private class to assess his skills. After the class, he said "yeah, he is definitely in the wrong level" and he was able to place him in a more advanced class. He also gave me a few credits for future classes. While I appreciated the director meeting with me and trying to make it right, I did not like how long it took for them to listen to me and finally take action. These classes are expensive and we wasted over a month at this place. read more

We've been attending American Swim Academy for 4 years now. My eldest started when she was 3.5 and now my youngest who is now 3.5 attends as well. I love American Swim Academy. They making learning how to swim fun and the most important thing-teaching kids HOW TO BE SAFE. When I was a child, I almost drowned twice. Both times someone saved me. I didn't learn how to swim until I was a teenager. Learning water safety and how to swim is so important to me because it's a life saving skill. My eldest, who is now 7, is becoming a stronger swimmer. She learned how to swim by the time she was 5 and I have her continue to come because I want her to be a very strong swimmer. My youngest is learning and getting the hang of the water. Shout out to Mr. Patrick H., Mr. Patrick J., and Albert! My kids love you guys! I highly recommend American Swim Academy. My daughter has been going to ASA for over a year now, and we couldn't be happier with her progress. She can now swim a short distance on her own, and be confident enough to not wear a floatie when we use our community pool. Compared to the lessons that she got through our city rec program, ASA is way superior. The low student to teacher ratio is a major factor. We love ASA Dublin. The people in the admin office, the coaches and additional trainers are all truly amazing. The coaches and the trainers keep the learning activity as fun as possible. The good part for us so far has been that it is 2 kids per lane and each of the kid gets attention based on their skill requirement. It would be unfair to narrow down one person from your amazing team but for me I go back to where our journey with ASA Dublin started. We were on the waitlist for a while and one day I called and spoke with Archana Sunderan from Member Service Representative team and she helped me get my younger one enrolled. My son has attended the American Swim Academy in Dublin since he was 2 years old and we love it! He is now 3.5 and well on his way to independently swimming and knowing how to get out of the pool safely should he accidentally fall in. All of his teachers have been great but his favorite is teacher Andrew, who celebrates his love for rock and roll and helps Noah feel confident and comfortable in the water. The class ratio is small, 2 kids to 1 teacher (in our case 2 teachers right now) for his age group. When he was in the infant class there were 4 babies to 1 teacher - parent assisted. The facility itself is always clean and parking is easy. The online portal is easy to navigate and use for rescheduling classes if needed. read more

Putting my kids in swimming have been one of the best decisions since we moved to Dublin. Both my kids love coming here and I see major progress in their abilities. My son Carter started at ASA since he was 10 months old with Bonnie. It's been 6 months now and I have seen such amazing progress in his swimming abilities. Bonnie knows when to challenge him and when not to based on his temperament of the day. She has been teaching a long time and knows what she is doing. I love how she is motivating and pushes each child in the class differently based on their abilities. My daughter started ASA when she was around 3.5 yrs old. I honestly had zero expectations for her. She HATED getting her hair wet, so I told myself if all she can do is get her head wet underwater this quarter I'll be happy. Sami is her teacher and I am blown away with how amazing Charlotte is doing. She LOVES Sami so much. There was a day when we had to do a make up and Sami was not the teacher and at the end of class Charlotte cried all the way home. The next week there was a sub for Sami and Charlotte cried the whole swim session because she missed Sami. I also want to give a shout out to Tosh. She's an amazing deck manager who actually gives feedback to instructors on how to challenge the kiddos and different techniques to try with them. read more

My oldest son learned to swim at ASA so it was only natural Id bring my second little guy. As most moms know kids have different personalities. My little guy is shy. He was not very excited about swimming lessons. I can not say enough good things about the instructors and deck hands (is that what they're called??) about working with my son. Every one of them was patient, kind, engaging and encouraging while my son got used to swim lessons. He now looks forward to going!!! THANK YOU!!!! This review is mainly based on their strict policies which only allow you to make up two lessons. So if your kid has to miss two of their normal lessons for whatever reason you can not make up any more lessons. This is ABSURD!!! Things come up, kids get sick, there are bdays, vacations, other stuff. And you cannot make up the lessons even if there is availability. The swim lesson quality is ok though very slow paced. If it weren't for the makeup policy this would get another star. read more

For me, ASA dublin is a turn-around story. I went from i am scared of drowning to i can do all 4 strokes in 1 yr. thanks to an awesome team of instructors including Royce, Allisa, Courtney, Patrick but most importantly Katie who took special care of me (& my daughter who still swims there). They not only make you learn strokes but also help you perfect them after you have learnt. Even more amazing is the helpful yelling and the appreciation you get when you reach a milestone. Kudos to the team - will highly recommend this place to any beginner. I am taking one star down only for 1 big reason - I wish there is continuity in the instructors schedule from Quarter to Quarter. ASA uses technology to seamlessly enroll my son, reenroll, and to keep track of his progress. Great instructors who are patient and listen to my kiddos concerns/fears. We have had only positive experiences at American Swim Academy in Dublin. My kids have had four different instructors at our time here as they level up. All of our instructors - Blair (no longer here), Kayla, Ryan, Beth, and Patrick have only encouraged our kids in the water. My daughter started at ASA Dublin when she was a baby and the first instructor was Miss Bonnie. She enjoyed the class so much that she looked forward to going every time! She's a preschooler now and takes ASA classes as her weekly routine (we suspended sometime during the pandemic). We have worked with a few instructors due to ASA's rolling system and she liked most of them. She was sad to hear that Miss Debs would retire. She had so much fun in Mr. Scott's classes that she copied the games at home. As parent, I like best the joint efforts of instructor and deck manager to assess and coach the students, and we were told what to practice and strengthen at home. Recently there were trainee instructors joining the classes. We understand it's necessary, but just hoping the training would not distract the class and degrade the quality. read more
