I want to leave a review for instructor Jessica. She is simply amazing! My son learned how to swim butterfly in one week with Jessica. I am so impressed. Patti's Swim School is pricy and has stricter refund/reschedule policy compared to others but with the right instructor it is definitely worth it. Sadly Jessica is exploring the option of moving to San Diego, I wish her luck and hoping to see her next Summer again!

My son (5yo) has Sensory Processing Disorder which can mean some things are hard for him like having his hair or body touched or different temperatures. All that means that we hadn't had a lot of luck with swim school in the past. This was our third try and we'd never made it past a single lesson anywhere else. This time it worked! He wrote this review himself. "I like it. And well Haley is a good teacher. When I did mistakes she asked me to try again and I actually did it. I passed it. They let me take my time getting in. I like pushing off Haley and the stairs. I like putting my eyes under the water. I like it when I have goggles on. It's nice of Haley to put my goggles on for me. I like it when we go to get pizza after swimming lessons!" For anyone with a sensory kid, you know this kind of review is *amazing*. He really loved it and never wants to leave the pool! They were able to accommodate his SPD beautifully. Grateful mom here!

Our autistic grandson LOVES his swim lessons!!

In regard to Lap Swimming…read more Hours are pretty flexible. About twenty lanes with the first part of the pool set for those who water walk and about 16 to 17 lanes to lap swim. Depending on the time of the day, some lanes close, for water classes. Be weary, if you go first thing when they open at 6am, and also when they reopen at 4pm or 5pm. There are groups of people that call themselves "The Regulars". A few of them like to put kickboards on open lanes to save for people in line behind you. Sometimes, if there is a long line on a hot summer day. A "Regular" might show up and just cut to the front of the line outside with another "regular" who is there already. Some of these people can be rude and really like their specific lane. And will throw a fit if you happen to take their lane. Some of these "regulars" will even lie and come up with a sob story for you about their past injuries, just to get a specific lane. The staff have not really monitored/enforced certain rules in the past. Hopefully that changes. You have been warned. The "regulars" are nice, as long as you don't get their lane or get in line ahead of them. Some will even show up 1 to 3 hours before the pool opens in the morning and afternoon in order to get their lane. They mean business and can be cutthroat. The place has a lot of potential. Cosmetic wise, it's what you'd expect of a facility that's almost a 100 years old.

For the price you pay for rec swim and toddler swim you can't find a better deal in the East Bay!…read moreWe come to this pool the most frequently out of the 3 indoor public pools in the area, the others being Dublin Wave and Silliman Aquatic center in Newark. Great hours for toddler swim, 11am to 1pm Monday thru Friday and 5 to 7pm Tues, Thursday, Friday. There is also rec swim kn Saturday from 1:30 to 3:30pm. The toddler pool is great for toddlers to get used to the water and there is a depth gradient that will allow them to explore and eventually try to swim. There are also toys provided by the staff for the little ones to play with in the pool. The staff here have always been very nice to us and you can tell that the lifeguards on shift take their jobs seriously. Yes, the facility is almost 100 years old and does show its age, but for $5 total for a baby and an adult as well as the super flexible hours? You just can't beat that deal.

Best decision I have ever made was to finally book Dan. I regret not doing this years ago and…read morewasting thousands of dollars on swim schools that teach absolutely nothing. My 6yr old daughter, after 3 lessons with Dan, was able to swim and understood water safety. Isn't that what we all want? These swim instructors at swim schools just hold onto our children and play with them in the water. It's nonsense and such a waste of time. The only way to teach a child to swim is to let go and make them aware of where the side of the pool is for safety. Dan is no fluff, not there to play. He is there to teach your kid how to get from the middle of the pool to the side of the pool by themselves without needing help. This is a water safety course. Your kid will know what to do if they ever fall into the water and need to find the edge of the pool within 15 seconds. That's the life saving course he is teaching them and it works. It's not easy for the kids for the first 4 days and it's not easy for the parents to watch. There is a lot of crying but after day 4 or 5, the crying stops and they learn that if they cry while trying to swim, they will choke on the water so they should probably stop. I highly recommend every parent to put their child in this water safety course asap. I kept hearing about Dan for years from other friends that had their kids complete his course but I was too scared to do it. And then every summer would go by and my kid still couldn't swim. I finally got so sick of the swim Schools that I booked Dan's 10 day course and it was the best decision. Do not hesitate to do this and know that it's not a pleasant situation. But you know what is? Knowing my kid can get to the side of the pool in one breath if she is ever in a situation where this is needed. I remember hearing this stat while at Dan's lessons last year and it has stuck with me and I hope this resonates with whoever is reading this: it takes 20 seconds for a kid to drown. When a kid is drowning and doesn't know water safety, the first 15 seconds they spend splashing around looking for their parents to come help them or someone to hold onto. That's 15 seconds of wasted breath and time to get to the side of the pool safely. Dan teaches kids to know their surroundings, put your head in the water and find the nearest edge.

We went from never having had a swim…read morelesson and in 10 days was jumping off pool ledges with excitement and reaching the sides of the swimming pool all on her own! The classes are not for the faint of heart. These are accelerated no nonsense classes and the intent is to teach them to survive. For the first few days, expect a lot of tears and emotions from the kiddos. The last few days, they will be proud of their accomplishment and enjoy being in the water. I was lucky and our kiddo did not cry one day. She loved it so much, she still asks to go back. I am beyond impressed and have a sense of relief knowing she can swim with safety. Thank you so much, Dan!
