Our guide fed the wolves, and it was fascinating to watch. Now we know why they say lone wolf! They don't want to be around humans.

The drive to the ranch was beautiful. We were welcomed at the beginning of the driveway and proceeded to park very close to where the tour started. Our guide was fabulous. She knew so much about wolves. And answered everybody's questions. She made the tour fun and informative!

Joe was a fantastic tour guide! We had an amazing visit to the Wolf Center. We specifically booked a Saturday enrichment tour so we had a better chance of seeing the wolves and seeing them interact. The enrichment included treats and fox urine for the wolves. Poppy and Yana were more playful than their brothers Thor and Durango, they walked the fence line and explored. The email instructions are very clear and the rule are strict for the wolves safety. They have a small gift shop on site, and a bigger one down in julian to check out. We had a lovely day learning and enjoying the sunshine.

I loved the experience. Follow the specific directions in the email. Wait by the sign close to your reservation. Staff will in fact be there to drive you to the compound where the wolves are. Stay on the trail as there can be rattlesnakes. There's ample parking for free. We did the enrichment tour which was interesting to say the least. We learned a lot and guide was very passionate about the wolves. There are 22 wolves and we only saw four. Would have loved to see more. Please use the bathroom beforehand as the porta potties on site are filthy.

We had a wonderful time at the Wolf Center. The staff and guide were all Amazing and so informative. They are doing incredible work. We always have people visiting us from out of state so we are adding this to our list of things to do when others come to see us.

We booked the Enrichment Tour. It was very much what I expected, geared towards learning about wolves. I absolutely loved it. Our guide was an extremely knowledgeable, engaging, friendly and extremely patient with kid's questions. These apex predators are fascinating to me and in my opinion it is a worthwhile experience for kids and adults. Note: you do have to book in advance and the meeting point is just outside of Julian, not at the wolf center in town.

First time coming here. My son and I really enjoyed the informative tour and the wolves... man, they were majestic. We will never forget our time here. Simply a gem of a place.

We loved our visit to the California Wolf Center. Our guide Nicole was very informative and knowledgeable about the Wolves and their survival in the wild and how important it is to save them. We highly recommend seeing these beautiful animals and supporting their efforts.

We so enjoyed our enrichment tour today! We met at a waiting area to get everyone checked in before caravanning through the gated area to the actual center. Jacob was our guide. He is very engaging and informative (and good humored). The wolves are so beautiful to watch. What a special day!

Great experience! We took a day trip from North County to Julian. Scheduled an enrichment tour around 4pm and it lasted 2 hours. You meet the staff at the entrance of the center, check in, and then follow their vehicle along a dirt road until you get to the center. Drive is bumpy but not dangerous. There were about 15 of us in the group, all ages. Bathrooms available. The staff was very knowledgable and answered our groups questions. We were able to see 5-6 wolves and learn about how they have been taken care of and their personalities. The enrichment tour includes the staff feeding them/adding sensory items to the enclosures. Plenty of time and space to take images and photos. Since we booked an evening tour, we caught them howling at dusk! What a great experience.

This place is so amazing. I learned so much about wolves, their natural behaviors, the efforts to pull them back from the brink of extinction, and so much more. We are lucky to have this wonderful conservation center so close to home here in SoCal.

I booked a private tour for my sisters 40th bday, and it was amazing! We were able to cater the tour to what we were most interested in while learning so much from our knowledgeable and friendly guide Nicole. We were able to ask all the questions we wanted and paid to feed the wolves as well! It was an awesome experience and recommend it for every one of all ages!

I love Wolves and this place did not disappoint. The Staff was so knowledgeable and informative about the wolves in their care and just about the different species of wolves. The Staff truly loves what they do and you can feel it when you go there. They have a passion to inform the general public about wolves and the wrong perception they get. The Staff answered all of my questions, and I had a lot. lol Wolves are such a beautiful species and being there... so close to them was truly magical for me. I loved every minute of it. Thank you California Wolf Center!

Yueming Q.

It's a really unique experience to visit Wolf Center, got to see two species of wolves. One is northwestern wolf and the other is Mexican wolf, there are 5 wolves in total we saw. The instructor was very professional and had a very nice educational talk about the wolves and how they protect them. I think the experience is very nice, highly recommend.

You can tell how much they genuinely care about the animals, They also are well versed in facts and fun tidbits about the animals as well. We love going to the wallabies enclosure- it's our kids's favorite. We go there first since it tends to be less busy and the wallabies are not chilling in the shade yet. It's so special to walk through and have the wallabies just hang out near you and jump around. We loved seeing so many wonderful animals- wolves, giraffes, zebra, rhinos, monkeys, just to name a few. I enjoyed petting them and feeding the animals and being able to spend that time with the animals unlike in a crowded carnival style place that has a petting zoo. The staff who greeted us at the front were super sweet and friendly and playful too which makes the place feel just like another alternate world full of good, happy people. They have a little shop full of chocolates and when you enter, a staff member offers you a sample. She asked what we would like to try while kids received a milk chocolate with sprinkles on it. Because they're probably made with a lot of love and labor, the chocolates aren't cheap but not ridiculously overpriced either. I'm for sure the type though who would have spent a lot more on the chocolates if the tickets were cheaper but that's just me. I'm sure the ticket sales are better. A lot of people do walk out with purchasing any chocolate when I was there. I had fun looking at all of them though and deciding what I wanted. I will be back again when my children are a little older and it's a good excuse to stop by a winery while you're in the area.

Every time we drive through those gates, it feels like stepping into a different rhythm -- slower, softer, and full of heart. There's a calm that settles over me the moment I arrive, like all the noise of everyday life fades into the background. For a few precious hours, time seems to stand still. We spend our visits surrounded by the most amazing animals, each with their own story and personality. The people who care for them are just as special -- kind, genuine, and truly devoted to every creature on the farm. They always greet us by name, take time to chat, and make our son feel like part of their family. He loves to feed the sheep, who are so patient and gentle with him. I love learning each animal's name and backstory -- it makes every visit feel personal and deeply grounding. If you ever feel weighed down by the world, this is the place to go. It's impossible to leave without feeling lighter, calmer, and a little more connected to what really matters. And as a bonus -- they grow the most delicious fruits and vegetables right there on the farm, fresh from the earth that gives this place so much life. We showed up pretty late, so we were only able to do the Safari tour, which is one of the main attractions, but it was completely worth it. The way the Safari is laid out is unbelievable. Traveling through the park and seeing all the animals spread out across these huge open areas really makes you feel like you're on an actual safari. There's so much room and space for the animals to graze and move around naturally, and it was amazing seeing how different animals interacted with each other or how the sections were designed to feel natural and immersive. They also have a zip line that runs across the safari area and a hot air balloon that goes up and down over the park, plus plenty of other attractions and exhibits that we didn't even get a chance to see. Definitely worth checking out, especially the guided Safari tour portion. One important thing to note -- if you're searching for it online or using GPS, make sure you search for the "Safari Park" and not just the San Diego Zoo. The Safari Park is located up in the hills and is a completely different location from the actual zoo in downtown San Diego.

The Safari Park is in a different location entirely, to the north of San Diego in Escondido. I stopped by on a Wednesday afternoon. Parking is easy in the large parking lot they have. Here's what's awesome about the Safari Park. If you pay for general admission, you'll have your typical zoo experience pretty much. If you shell out some extra cash for the safari, this is where it's a much cooler experience. I've been on a real safari many years ago in South Africa in Kruger National Park. Obviously this isn't as great but it's still memorable. Our safari consisted of a group of 12 people or so. Our tour guide was awesome. One of the best I've ever had. He was knowledgable, funny, and a lot of fun. For an hour, you'll cruise in the safari jeep checking out various animals like antelope, giraffes, and more up close. Unlike a safari in Africa, you're not going to pull up on any predators, but it's still enjoyable. It's a huge park. If you explore every nook and cranny there, you can spend the whole day there. We were there for about 3.5 hours (including the hour for the safari). Out of all of the areas we checked out, our favorites were the elephant area, platypus area, okapi area, the tiger area, and the kangaroo area. The platypus and okapi were awesome for the novelty. These are unique animals that you don't see every day. And the kangaroo area is especially epic because you're actually walking around in their habitat. Next thing you know, a kangaroo is hopping around a few feet away from you. Other popular areas include the lion area, the cheetah area, and the gorillas area. Part of the experience is going to be luck of the draw. A lot of animals are nocturnal so they sleep or rest (hidden away from the sun) during the day. Which means you might not even see them out there. For example, we didn't see any lions. If you show up right when they open, your chances are higher. Another issue I have with the park is it's quite expensive. California prices are a real thing but this was a little obscene. General admission is expensive. The add-ons are expensive. And the food and drinks there are expensive. Case in point: a soda for $15. A random guy even commented to me about how ridiculous the food and beverage prices are. Part of the proceeds go toward animal conservation, which is great and all, but the prices are just too high. All that being said, I did enjoy visiting.
