Whenever we travel, we try to do a trail ride. As more experienced horse people, we've found that it can be hard to find tourist trail rides that are for fun for people who already know how to ride. After a lot of research I picked Integrity Stables and I'm so glad I did! Horses are well loved and cared for, the ride was very private (just us and our guide), the scenes were beautiful, and our trail guide (I'm blanking on his name he was young--maybe it was Luke?) was super knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Would recommend to anyone (experienced horse person or not) and definitely plan on going back next time I'm in San Diego! While it is a little drive from San Diego (45 min - 1hr), the little town of Julian was the perfect place for us to stop afterwards for lunch before we made the drive back! read more

The experience was great from the scheduling of a ride to the end with pictures taken and feeding of the horses. The guide Colt was the nicest person with a great sense of humor and customer service. What a fun time!! Coming from someone who rides horses daily, this was a wonderful experience! I took my friends here for a bachelorette weekend ride and it was perfect! One of them had never been on a horse before and Luke was so kind and willing to make her feel the most comfortable when riding! He explained to her how to safely ride and have a comfortable ride, at that. Not only was it fun learning about the Julian mines along the tour, the horses were very happy! I avoid doing these kind of things because typically the horses are ridden so often that they just become robots and you can tell they're unhappy. That was NOT the case with these ones. They get well-rested and have a lovely space in the shade to relax when they're not on trail. Each of our horses were also very well trained and rideable for even the most inexperienced person. All very sweet temperaments and happy to get their apple slices at the end. This is seriously some of the most blissful fun I have had in years. Jennifer was wonderfully friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. We rode Misty, Angel, and Solé (I think that's how it's spelled). All the horses were gentle and endlessly patient with us (especially considering we both had little horseback riding experience between the two of us). I reserved two spots on their evening horseback ride in early October. The horses were placid, the trail was beautiful and the stables are only 5 minutes from downtown Julian! Our guides were friendly and told us a little about the history of the area. They took us on a 1 hour ride which was just enough for a new horse rider. They were easy to book with and accommodate riders up to 250 lbs - more than some other stables! They also do snow rides in the winter (weather permitting), picnic rides, and full moon rides! I would go back to Julian just to go riding with them again. This is a family run stable and everyone tries to show you the best time. I highly recommend it! read more

I couldn't imagine a better riding experience than we had here. I did the trail ride with my 7 year old daughter. It was the first time she had done anything like this, and our guide was so good with her. She loved the whole thing. And so did I! The trail was incredible with really beautiful scenery and views. While my 7 year old and I were on the trail, my 5 year old stayed behind with my husband and did the pony ride. She loved every minute of her time there. She spent the rest of the day talking about everything she learned and did. Everyone here truly went above and beyond. Integrity Stables is a well run stable with the horses at the forefront of planning. The animals are well taken care of and we each got horses to fit our needs and personalities. Ashely was a magnificent guide, and her calm and posed personality was very reassuring to the animals and us. The trips is a beautiful windy mountain trail with highs and lows, but she was an avid horse leader who found shortcuts and path around some tricky spots. The animals are well cared for, the saddles comfortable and well kept and the horses were easily responsive to our commands. This beautiful mountain horseback ride lasted an hour and it tied the whole Julian experience together for us. We had a wonderful time with Integrity Stables celebrating my wife's birthday. Elizabeth did a fantastic job leading the three of us (me, wife, 8yo daughter) on an hourlong tour up and down the mountain. The instruction was great, the horses were calm and easy to ride, and the scenery was beautiful. My fiancé and I have little too no experience horseback riding but our guide, Ashley, was super informative and showed us how to control the horses. I had Tess( heads up, she loves to eat) and he had Torro. Both were super sweet horses and a pleasure to ride. The route was about an hour long, it was such beautiful scenery, especially once you started going up the hill and seeing the valleys. Such a serene and grounding experience. This stable is well run and horses are well trained, dependable, responsive and still gentle, with no unexpected "quirks" that can spoil a ride. Unusual, but true. Jennifer really cares about making sure people have a good experience. Don't be afraid to ask for a teensy "lesson" in the arena before you go out on the trail -- helps to get to know your horse a little if you are inexperienced. My only suggestion would be to take better care of equipment, and replace as needed. The saddle I rode on had cordura (not leather) stirrup fenders which were beginning to fray badly, especially underneath. Cordura not the best for fenders, because it's impossible to train the stirrup to stay in the right position (needed if you lose your stirrup while riding). But that will not deter me - we will be back soon in November for a Fall visit in beautiful Julian, and going for a ride at Integrity will be the first thing on our list! This was the MOST incredible experience. My husband surprised me with a horseback ride on our wedding morning and I am so thankful he chose Integrity Stables. Luke, our trail guide, was incredibly kind. He guided us through every step of how to navigate the horses, and made us immediately feel comfortable riding, even though it is not something we do often. He provided water for the ride, and took us on a loop to see the most beautiful views in Julian! Excellent riding experience. It was so scenic! Mountains, trees, chaparral, views of downtown Julian and even the ocean in the distance! Luke was an amazing tour guide and horse wrangler. In 5 minutes he taught us how to communicate and effectively control our horses. We have only ridden a couple times in the past 10 years. Our sizes ranged from 225lbs to my 110lb daughter and we each had a horse which perfectly fit our needs. I really enjoyed Toro. He is a large and strong horse who liked to take the lead. I took my family of four, 2 men 2 women on a Saturday morning. I called the day before and they were able to squeeze us in. This felt more like a caring family of ranch owners taking us on a tour of their expansive, beautiful land than an impersonal tour. Integrity Stables is amazing!!! read more
