We recently had a very disappointing and concerning experience with this horseback riding company. Unfortunately, the horses provided for our group did not appear to be properly trained or well-managed. Several of the horses were extremely difficult to control, and their behavior raised serious safety concerns from the start. During the ride, two horses became particularly unruly and ended up bucking, throwing two members of our group off onto the ground. This was a frightening and potentially dangerous situation that could have resulted in serious injury. While we understand that working with animals always carries some risk, this level of behavior suggests a lack of adequate training, supervision, or proper matching of horses to riders. After this negative experience the Owner refused to reimburse us. She offered us a credit to come back and take another ride with them. After this experience, the ladies are terrified to get on another horse. I would strongly encourage the company to review their safety protocols, horse training practices, and staff preparedness to ensure a safer experience for future guests. I leave you all with the horses are beautiful and you can tell they are well taken care but you should be a very experienced rider if you book with this company.

I had some bad experiences with trainers in Rancho Santafe and my disappointment led me to find Candy and her beautiful Arabian horse Suga. The drive out to Ramona is beautiful and driving from Del Sur, happily I don't have to get on any freeways. Candy is a very kind and sweet lady who teaches more then just riding, she gives you her positive insight along the way and offers her wisdom through her many years of riding and being around horses. The horse I'm training on is a dream, Suga is very responsive and has a gently trot which really helps me learn and practice my posting trot. She is a sweet, safe and a very gentle horse which is perfect for a beginner like myself. Suga is a beautiful grey Arabian, I adore her. As an…read moreadult beginner, I was a little tentative to begin with, but Graeme knows exactly how to pace the lessons and unlock a greater confidence and technique. He's got great energy and makes every lesson productive and fun. The facility is in a quiet part of Rancho Santa Fe (just past the Bridges) and has access to miles of riding trails. The people at the club have been great to work with and the other riders and family members are all so supportive! You get a real sense of community and fun and I always leave there with a big smile on my face. His horses are top notch, former show jumping horses and the experience in spending more time with these beautiful creatures has been sublime. I'm hooked.

My partner and I came to Rancho Santa Fe for a short vacation and I knew I wanted to get in a…read moreriding lesson. So I searched online and spoke to a couple of trainers and settled on Lena and who was warm, friendly and accommodating. I actually didn't know she was a dressage trainer (I'm used to riding English style, Hunter/Jumper) but it turned out to be a pleasant surprised as Lena was patient and her instruction style was thorough and thoughtful. I rode the lovely Elliot, a dressage school master, sweetheart boy, 16.3hh with a big heart. Now, he definitely made me work throughout the 45min private lesson, haha , he was more woah than go!! But given I hadn't ridden in over a year and never in a dressage saddle he was the perfect gentleman for my introduction to dressage. I've worked on walk to canter transistor, leg yielding and even ended with a little 'Passage' (assisted by Lena's encouragement!) I was able to tack him up and in-tack him after the lesson and Lena was happy to let me spend as much time with him as I wanted. I will definitely visit Lena again in the future and highly recommend her if you're looking for a great lesson with a knowledgeable instructor and lovely horses!

And she's great about pulling out exercises that are fitting for the day, depending on the mood of horse and rider. (For example, I know she snuck in flying change practice to make me smile on a bad day.) She has a keen eye for behaviors and bad habits - both in humans and in horses. I've been riding with Lena since September 2019 and she's made such a difference in my riding!
