The first time walking into Shagged Hair Design on Main Street, or Rt 12, in North Oxford, I couldn't help but to drawn into the décor of Shagged. To be honest, Shagged's décor is geared to a mostly female clientele, but someone like me isn't there for the décor. I need to get a good haircut at a price that doesn't completely empty my wallet. Shagged does that. Living in Worcester, there really isn't a whole lot of good/personable/cheap barbers or places to get a good male haircut. I tried barbers in the City, but the trendy taper crap sucks. I tried Diorio's but unless you know someone that works there, you're just another $9 and you get a sloppy cut. This is where Shagged shines. The staff is friendly first, then business like second. I like this about Shagged. As a customer, you are able to give ideas and have someone from Shagged's professional staff recommend a cut to fit the person. So dudes like myself, suck it up and don't worry about the décor and go to Shagged Hair Design and get a gnarly haircut.

Sat down and waited till almost noon time. Colored the roots and I was told she will be back in 30-40 mins. Waited until 1330 finally texted to please wash my hair now. At 1335 she finally came back and explained that she was finishing a blow dry. 2 hrs wait for only coloring the roots without washing yet. It still ended up looking like yellow cotton candy with dark roots. Most salons will offer to fix these hair color mishaps for free, and to their credit they did try. They even offered to fix it again--for the third time. Normally, free fixes are the most salons will offer. When I refused to have them work on my hair again, they actually refunded all my money because even they knew how awful it was. Recently I was in a store and admired the hair on one of the workers. Her hair color was vibrant and the highlights had dimension. She recommended Mary Lou at Hair Quarters, a salon in my own town. Mary Lou is knowledgeable and highly skilled. She knows that toner is not a substitute for proper hair color. This is important--some stylists over-rely on toner, which will fade in a couple of weeks. She was undaunted by the disaster she faced. The cut has great symmetry; the color and highlights are natural and flattering. You will recognize the difference in services here by the attention to detail that is often skimmed over by other salons. You don't need those places; you only need this one. Go.

Additionally, the other men and women I've seen come and go have looked pretty sharp. The cuts themselves have grown out well, allowing me to have time between cuts. I think this is the true test of a hair stylist, how your hair still looks a a month later. I've also had a shampoo by Carmen. Eliz was running late so she pitched in. For the shampoo, she dig into her scalp with her nails (like, amazingly, like a good back scratch) and with the conditioner she massaged my neck and scalp. I don't remember if his happened when Eliz shampooed me the last time, but OMG. Also, since she noticed my hair was dry (I did too, that's why I was here for a cut) and there was time, she threw in a hot conditioning treatment and stuck me under the dryer to open my cuticles. Both these women are chatty and friendly and a joy to be around The salon itself is cute but, perhaps, not as chic as some of the competitors. Then again, the pricing isn't painful either like the competitors and you sill walk out with a great cut. There is a place fora I pedis but I haven't had one here. There is only one chair and I'm once of those women that makes pedicures a social event, but if you're not, I recommend giving them a go. I've checked out a lot of places in Marlborough for cuts and I really like this place best.
