I've been to a lot of the big salons in the area - Carenza, 890, Vici, Aveda, Azana, etc. and after…read moreall of those places, Robin at Regis gives the absolute best cut. If any on you have an angled, layered bob, you may know how hard it us to find someone who knows how to do that cut in a way that doesn't make you look like Kate Gossling circa 2004. I think what Robin does might be what is called a precision cut (at least it's what I imagine that to mean!). Robin is drawing hair up and cutting at all of these purposeful angles so it all falls together just right. That's different than other places that cut a straight line on the nape if the neck, leave it a little longer in the front, and call it a day. I get compliments from other women (strangers!) on my cut pretty regularly. And on top if that, she's a sweet person and easy to talk to. Top notch cut and reasonable prices. For whomever left a review saying staff is rude, I can't even imagine that. I've been seeing Robin a few years and have never seen any if the employees there being anything other than kind and accommodating. There's another stylist there often when I'm in for my appointment and she always has something nice to say. She came up and said hi to me when I saw her out at a restaurant and was just lovely to my family. Everybody has to find the right stylist for them, and it takes time. Hoping you all find your "Robin"!

I wasn't exactly happy about paying $40 just to get a crappy fade fixed, but I didn't have many other choices. So I came here and Moe gave me a cut that I must say, was pretty damn good. He cut the hell out of my hair (in a *good* way) and turned the shitty mid-fade into a beautiful high fade. He made it look good. I should mention that English is not his first language, but he can cut some hair. I've never paid $40 for a haircut in my life but he saved my ass the day before starting a new job.

All of their beauty services seem super reasonable including hair color, threading, waxing, or extensions...I was checking out the service and price list while waiting a minute for my appointment time in their cute white and pink seating area) I'm pretty picky about my hair and pixie cut. Andrea is by far my favorite stylist in a long while. She's super skilled and makes sure to ask questions while cutting and truly wants to ensure I'm cool with the outcome. She's smart, experienced, and super kind and easy to talk to while I'm in the chair. I got an eyebrow threading for the first time in foreverrrr too. I like my thick brows but I thought it could be nice to get them shaped. I am so glad I did. The technician (I wish I remembered her name!) respected that I wanted to keep them full, but the shaping she did made me feel so confident and pretty in the end. She even showed me how to use a little makeup to make them pop a bit. I also love that she didn't use any oils or products after threading. I stopped getting eyebrow services because I always seemed to break out from the "calming" oils that were applied post-shaping. I'm sure you can request it if you want, but I'm glad I got it without. I'm really picky about where I get my hair done, and I'm glad I stumbled upon Lovey Beauty Bar. Go schedule yourself an appointment! If you're picky and looking for a new salon to get your hair cut and/or colored try this place.

There's something quite liberating about allowing a visibly-intoxicated person to work on your neck…read morewith an unguarded straight razor. I hope all of you appreciate that I would have walked out if not for the experience and a story to tell. I struggled with how to frame this review. Part of me wanted to to protect other employees at the location by creating a new busness in the same location under the indivdual stylist's name, but if she gets it together I'd rather my review not follow her. On the other hand, I felt it unfair to punish other stylists in the same salon for one person. In the end, I decided that the entire salon needs to be called out. There is no confusion as to what is going on here: all of the other stylists watched this transpire and did nothing to defend their customer; I exchanged several knowing glances with others in the room. If the owner isn't aware of the situation, shame on her. More disturbing than the razor work, which actually came out great despite the conditions, were the thought processes going on and the lack of filter between brain and mouth. After asking what I did for work, she proceeded to mock the entire industry. She also made it known that she lives in a certain part of town among a certain type of people, and that somehow her willingness to live in such conditions made her a really great human being, when merely saying that sentence indicated delusion. She even mocked the most fragile and beautiful subset of our society, wealthy orthinologists. The appointment began about 10 minutes late and took about an hour, which I've never experienced anywhere. The website lists their men's haircuts as $25-40 and $40 for a new male client, which I was, but at checkout time it came in at $45 with no explanation. All that being said, I have some wild hair and am not particularly attracted to my own image, but I caught myself getting lost in the mirror, which never happened after anywhere else. If you can tolerate it here, it's some nice work. I picked this place because they have a perfect 5-star rating. Upon further review, the most recent was posted on 7/18/2012. Did everyone figure it out and not share? Time for a reset... To make a long story short, I spent the last year growing my hair in and letting salons do their best. I wish I could have tried everyone, but I'm making an economic decision to deny these flowing locks to the world by breaking out my clippers again. My final rankings: 1. KRS Hair Studio - Riverwest, 2. Robert Laurence - Shorewood, 3. The Cutting Group - Riverwest, 4. Stone Fox Salon - Murray Hill, 5. Grum - Murray Hill, 6. M Salon - Walker's Point. Peace.
