Always ask about the kids and work and takes her time. asking me if there's something different that I would like to try for a chain salon that's almost unheard of I like enjoy coming up here and being almost on a fixed income choice makes an effort. Great Clips has been my go to salon .I am very satisfied with the service that Is why I keep coming back regularly for my scheduled haircut. But this visit I had just today somehow I had a different expirience. Before I came in I checked in online, went inside and was seated and attended.Halfway to the process while my hair was being trim I suddenly heard the hairdresser farted,not loud but audible. I just kept quiet so as not to embarass her. 2 more minutes pass and haircut is done.The thing I did not like was when she did not even combed out the cut hairs,I paid and still gives a $10 tip and left the shop to go home. This is the first time I really felt dissatisfied with this particular visit. To the management please retrain your staff on the proper service to the patrons and client. I've visited Great Clips in Monterey and San Francisco in Diamond Heights both of which has excellent service.I believe Millbrae branch needs improvement. read more

This place is soooo slow. They usually only have two people working here and I'm not sure if they need to hire more people or what, but both of them took nearly an hour to cut guys hair. I and another person waited for almost an hour. They should enforce masks because the woman next to me kept coughing. Like REALLY coughing. Thank goodness I wore my mask because she kept coughing every five minutes. Online check in was a joke. When I checked in online and gave my name they just erased it on the screen and I had to check in again. Also, they had a sign saying cash only but they did t have change. So when I was trying to tip with a $10 bill and get change they said they couldn't do it. Horrible hair cut and horrible service. read more

I've been getting my hair cut by Great Clips for over 13 years. I've been to several locations, but only recently to the Millbrae location. This place is horrible. Customer service is non-existent. Most of the workers speak very little English and just cut your hair however they think best. I ask for the same haircut every time I go, and it never looks the same, and most recently, I came out with a choppy, unblended, far-too-short haircut. The cherry on top was the woman wetting an off-white faded rag and wiping my face and head down with it at the conclusion of my haircut. I had surgery on my face and came in to get my hair washed. After getting my hair washed, the employee scrapes my hair with a towel like I'm a dog which is basically asking for breakage. My hair was also extremely knotty and tangled, he couldn't comb through it. I ended up walking out with wet hair. When I wash my own hair this never happens, even with different products. It took ten minutes of reapplying conditioner and leave ins to untangle it. I also noticed the roots on the inside of my hair were still oily. Don't waste your time. I know it's not expensive but it's really dumb how the employees here can't do basic things. The price tag means it's not salon quality but this shouldn't be an invitation for the employees to throw all hair rules out the window. read more

My son got a haircut here yesterday. Asked for curtains, with specific picture. He walked out with a short haircut. All uneven, not faded properly (if at all), messed up in many spots. It's like the woman just said yes to the picture and directions and just did what she wanted after that. First chop she did was right in the front (the part to be left alone). Oh, and she told my son it looked bad right then, but after he shampoos his hair it would look great. Hmm.... Definitely do not recommend this place to anyone!! read more

Straight to the point. I understand that great clips isn't a specialty men's urban barbor shop. But they cut hair right? And what I asked for wasnt at all what I got the only part he did good was the top I would say. But the SIDES and LINEUP WAS THE WORST!! I told him exactly what I wanted him todo and he responded as if he knew and he's done it about 1500 times. Anyways after my hair cut was all said and done. The line up he said he did really was pushing back my hair line on the sides of my head. That was his version of " LINING UP " I guess. Horrible just horrible.... there's nothing really much else to say. I'm not saying everyone there is bad it was just the guy I saw I'll leave his name anonymous. I don't often write bad reviews, but when it's bad, it's bad. Sadly, I have to agree with the comments made by other people regarding problems given by Asian lady, by the name of Jenny, who works here (see reviewer Nathan A.'s review for a partial picture). You know it's a bad haircut when your friends are shocked and appalled after you finish. I came in and there was a slight wait of about 15 minutes. I gave my instructions as usual, pulling out an old ID with my picture of how I wanted the hair. The lady nodded and said "it's the same as the description from last time right?" She looked at the picture briefly but clearly didn't know how to cut it. I was given a buzz cut from the top, no scissors involved I had last time because it "wasn't on the description." It was down to the scalp being very visible. She then informed me during the haircut that I should be using the check in for a shorter wait time. Not sure if she was trying to be rush me because she had a wait, but her personality seems rather impatient. I'll have to deal with this cut for awhile, but at least if someone asks where I got it, I can say it's from Great Clips in Millbrae. After all, word by mouth reputation runs far on where not to get your cut (and who not to let you get your cut from). It'll be a glowing example of their poor work. If you decide to come here, bear in mind that for men, it'll be a buzz cut. And you should definitely NOT let them trust the description from their computer system. I've had a better experience with a gentleman named Tom, so you need to be picky about who you get as your stylist and stick with that person every time. read more

After my last haircuts the owner contacted me and offered me a free redo I went in for the redo last night and it wasn't much better experience. Samira ended up cutting my hair and did a much better job. I wanted the same haircut as I intended to get last time. The fade was done correctly and the clippers and edger that she used were high quality clippers and it was obvious that she knew what she was doing. She also fixed the top by evening things out. I appreciated the attention to detail. While this was completely opposite of my other experience, my review reflects the rounded up average of my last experience with this one. Showed a photo of what i wanted to look like, which is layered shoulder length.. and all she does is start cutting so uneven and cut so short on the front and didnt even cut the back so my hair is all mess up. Never going here again. She was so fast and didnt even care about the photo i showed. They dont follow what you guys want. Pleasantly surprised. Saw the bad reviews in advance and came in with low expectations. I requested a female hairdresser and got Angela. She is Asian like myself, which is what I wanted bc she is more familiar with cutting Asian hair texture. Angela was professional and spent about 30-40 min on my hair, very thorough, and gave me some good advice about my hair. I had showed her a picture of what I wanted and she got as close as you can get. I'm very satisfied with my haircut! She seemed very experienced and I noticed someone else came in asking for her. Location is convenient on broadway where all the shops and restaurants are. Parking is abundant on the street or in the garage. This has been my go to spot a couple times a year. Angela cut my hair recently (I think that is her name). I was very happy with her work. She listened and gave me exactly what I asked for. She was very friendly and professional and I had a really great experience! I will go back, and most likely ask for her. My hair is super super short for a female right now, which makes it easy to see any imperfections. She was able to make it look absolutely perfect. Clean and Friendly staff. Clean floors and fixtures. They use a simple system of notes so that when you check in they know "a 2 behind the ears a 1.5 on the neck and fade / blend the back not too short on top". So that regardless of who you get you're reasonably assured that you won't leave with an unwanted mullet or clown cut. They're asking you to wear a mask and they're wearing them too. It sounds weird but it's not a big deal. When time to trim around your ears they undo one side of your mask and you hold it with a finger while they cut that side. Then swap. No biggie. You can check in online to reduce wait time. Remember to tip !!! I THINK that cuzza covid they cant do shampoos or other sink related hair care stuff. But for a scruffy dude it was all GOOD. I only came to Great Clips because I needed to have my hair cut urgently for work-related reasons. And I will regret it for the rest of my life. Worst haircut since I was a kid! The hair "stylist" did such a poor job that now I don't even want to look in the mirror. She seemed disinterested and didn't seem to have the proper styling technique. Walked in with no wait - yes! Greeted and seated right away. Very nice front receptionist/hair stylist. Immediately went to clean the station before seating. Unhappy with Dennis. I asked For a simple fade and a trim on top. I left with a screwed up fade, pointy top and a divot on the left side. He even poked me in the eye and didnt say a thing. Didn't realize how bad my hair was until I got back to my car and took the moisture out with a towel. I started to walk back in but thought against it because all the employees saw me when I walked out and nobody said a thing how bad a job he did, so I assumed nobody there could have fixed it. I know, I know, why the change of heart? Well, I did like the cut that my son got last time, and since he needed a quick haircut for a special event, we decided to give it another go. If anything, they are consistently good with my son's hair, even though we had a different stylist. My husband saw the free haircut deal when you buy a $50 card, so we bit the bullet and picked one up. I did appreciate that the stylist also explained about my son needing a different type of shampoo because of his hair type and being a boy, etc. We purchased some of the shampoo for men for him, and though I don't really like the Axe-like scent, his hair does seem a bit more manageable since he started using it. Totally acceptable great clips. They're quick, they're nice, and they're convenient. If you're not happy with your $17 haircut, there are places that are ten times as much, and I'm sure that you'd be happier with the end result... sometimes.
