Been going to Dylan for years, great barber, easy to make appointments he also takes walk ins, does great Job on fades and trimming beard, 5 stars always

    Instructions and rules
    Danny H.

I got a quick haircut here recently and have mixed feelings. My haircut was relatively simple, a trim, and I have no fancy style or difficult hair type. It was ok. But for this place you have to know what you are getting into. And even if you don't, Dylan will assuredly educate you. You will have no less than 1 dozen signs and instructions posted about the rules of this salon, in regards to your safety. It is now May 2023, and Dylan is quite concerned with masks and social distancing and gloves and hand sanitizer. For your protection, of course. Be also aware that there is no food allowed, or pets or cell phone use in this place. And if you forget there's a sign to dictate your visit. Actually, 2 signs. Also remember this is a cash only place. There's a sign for that. And if you cannot adhere by these regulations----again for your safety----you may leave (There's an exit sign to point out the only door in and out of this some 200 square foot shop. Very helpful). So basically my haircut was safe. I felt safe. I didn't have to really use my mind too much since all instructions for conducting business were readily available. That was the most stable and secure hair cut I have ever experienced. Dylan even wears a mask and gloves while conducting business on your scalp, so you know he takes safety seriously. Last tip, make an appointment. There's a clipboard outside with a pen and also you can call ahead to safely make an appointment to conduct business. Be safe out there.

Great cut today . He's a chill barber and he works fast. Budget friendly too. The Goat barber

Dylan has done a great job giving me the exact haircut I show him in pictures. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable barber.

I have dark Asian hair and wanted to get it lightened for the summer, so I yelped a place and came across Dylan Salon. 1 hair cut + 2 balayage dye jobs + 4 hours later = 1 happy customer Even though Dylan doesn't speak English very well, give him a shot! You will be pleasantly surprised. He's extremely kind and patient. He went to study hair in New York before moving to California. He makes sure that his cuts are perfect before you leave the salon (cuts it, dries it, straightens it to see if his cuts are straight, cuts it again if necessary). He's done Katharine McPhee's hair twice (apparently he used to do her mom's hair). Prices are VERY reasonable. I will be back.

I had my hair done by Blair, and she completely transformed my previously botched color into a gorgeous, natural brown. I honestly couldn't be happier with the results. She truly listened, understood what I wanted, and worked her magic. On top of that, her shampooing skills are amazing -- I came in with a slight headache, and her gentle touch actually made it feel so much better! While I was there, I also noticed how well the other clients were treated. Every stylist seemed highly skilled and attentive, and the overall vibe was warm and professional. I've already booked my second appointment and can't wait to go back. I'm sooooo happy with how my hair turned out. Highly recommend!

She works well with long Asian hair which I feel like many stylists struggle with. I told her I wanted just a trim and nothing more than 2 inches off my hair and she actually stuck to it! She does a dry cut first then shampoos your hair which I appreciated. Her prices are also really good considering the salon is in downtown Burlingame. Just check out my before & after. I can confidently stand behind that. I have shared photos of my hair before and after, and the transformation speaks for itself. Alper and Veysel, thank you so much. I…read morebrought my 11-year-old daughter in for a haircut and was honestly shocked by how expensive the final cost was. Her haircut was $80, and because her hair is curly, I was charged an additional $65 just for the blow-dry, bringing her total to $145 for a child's haircut and blow-dry. My own haircut and blowout were $100, so I was especially surprised that my daughter's service ended up costing $45 more than mine. I understand that curly hair may require additional time, but I feel that a $65 additional charge should have been clearly communicated beforehand, especially when it brings an 11-year-old's haircut to nearly $150. The salon explained the pricing to me afterward, but I really wish the full cost had been explained before the service was performed. Parents should definitely ask for the complete price, including the blow-dry, before agreeing to the service so there are no surprises at checkout. Unfortunately, because of the pricing and lack of upfront communication about the additional charge, I cannot see myself returning to this salon.

Located in a very prime location in downtown Millbrae, the salon is gorgeous inside! Very modern and clean. I got to my appointment early but was quickly attended to check in. Vee asked if I needed a hair wash which I told him that I already washed the night before. He said because my hair was very dry, he would give me a hair wash. It was so relaxing and he did an amazing job washing and conditioning my hair. Next up was blow-drying and he took a lot of time to not only dry it but used a barrel brush to style it and straighten it after. He was very meticulous! I showed him pictures of my hair inspiration and he said he could do the medium layer cut. I was so impressed with the outcome, it was a wonderful experience and can't wait to come back!

Please do not go to this salon…read more The reviewer who mentioned being treated differently and looked down upon due to not speaking Mandarin was 100% accurate. I experienced the same treatment. I was so hopeful this would be my new go-to salon for cuts & dyes, as Leo's IG was exactly what I was looking for. I booked a hair cut with Leo, "Master" Stylist, for $88 last week, confirmed by their scheduler over Messenger, for a 7:30pm time slot (usually their closing time, but the scheduler assured me it was fine and preferred by Leo). When I walked in, Leo warmly said, "bye bye" to the previous customer, who l heard speaking Mandarin with him. I walked up to greet him, introduced myself, and asked if he was Leo. He looked so bothered and disgusted(??), which completely threw me off. He said yes and pointed for me to sit in the seat, barely greeting me. I said I wanted a trim, and he acknowledged that. Then I said I only wanted 1-2 inches off my long hair, as I wanted to keep my length. I asked for a couple of long layers for my main hair, and more layering for the bangs, citing a really subtle wolf cut or butterfly cut. I showed him photo examples for bangs & layers, he pointed out some were short compared to my hair length, and I confirmed they indeed were too short for me and that these photos were mainly for the layer examples and that I wanted longer. We were the only ones in the salon at this point. He tried to start cutting my hair without a hair wash by putting on the cape (a bit tightly at first), and I asked, "Are you going to wash my hair?" Then, he seemed aggravated and visibly upset by that question and said that my hair is so long that I'd have to pay extra to have a wash included with a cut. He took out his calculator and showed me it would be a bit over $100. I told him the scheduler confirmed it was a flat $88 for a hair cut with him, even when I stated I had long hair and asked about it. I offered to show him the messages, but then he huffed and said, "Fine, OK, $88." He was clearly agitated, roughly took off the cape, and threw it on the nearby chair. It was concerning that he seemed so pissed off... I felt so incredibly uncomfortable due to this behavior, and I contemplated leaving, but wanted to avoid any more negative reactions. So I just hoped for the best and went to the hair wash station. The water he used was a little too hot, and he did not ask once if the temperature was okay, like other salons do. The entire wash was very rushed and rough, and he literally wrung my hair out like a wet towel!! I was shocked. Wringing wet hair causes damage, and no stylist has ever done that to my hair. Stylists normally bunch it in their hands and squeeze the water out gently to protect the hair from breakage. The shampoo and conditioner he used smelled awful, like a cleaning solution with musk. It was really so terrible that I had to wash out when I got home, and 5 shampoos that night didn't fully remove it. Back at the salon chair, he put the cape back on (again, a bit too tightly at first), and used a small, loud hair dryer on maximum heat to dry my hair. He did not put any hair protectant or oil to protect my hair like salons normally do. He clearly was rushing as quickly as possible, yanking at my thin, tangly hair. The heat was too hot for my scalp and it hurt a bit after. During the blow dry, my Asian boyfriend (he's Chinese, not that it's obvious or should even matter??) walked in after parking the car. I waved to him, Leo asked if he's with me, and I said yes. Suddenly, Leo's mood and tone changed when he spoke with me. He talked more in a friendly, gentle "customer service" voice (as used w/ the previous customer). I was shocked at the sudden switch. I wondered why he didn't think I should be treated this way from the beginning? Leo very hastily dry cut my hair and only cut a tiny bit off (maybe less than or up to 1 inch) of the very center back section of hair, then essentially thinned random parts at an angle without trimming in full. So he did not first trim all my hair before going to thin out edges and a bit of slide cutting only. He measured some of the layers to match, which was good, but then he left so much of my hair not cut at all, and I only noticed after getting home. He didn't show me the final back view with mirror like literally all other past stylists have done. He also did not 1) first pull out all my bangs or 2) trim across first. He only made small sideway and slide cuts to thin the edges for some. I found completely missed strands when I got home, and it did not look good. I had to cut those bangs myself, it looked embarrassing to leave them. The almost-45-min service was not worth $88, let alone w/ the rounded-up 15% tip I left, but I wanted to avoid issues and be out of there. The only positive is my hair is still long; however, this felt like a "master" scam rather than a "master" cut. :'( I'm so sad.
