He cut the back of my neck with his razor. I've come in a few times for a quick trim. This time, Dylan cut my neck and I bled. I felt two stings but didn't realize that he cut me until I left. He was scrambling for tissues when it happened but he didn't say anything. (I was eventually going to find out.) Disappointing. The cut was also really choppy in the back. In 2018, I decided to go pixie, and he has been able to give me various style of short pixie. I got a quick haircut here recently and have mixed feelings. My haircut was relatively simple, a trim, and I have no fancy style or difficult hair type. It was ok. But for this place you have to know what you are getting into. And even if you don't, Dylan will assuredly educate you. You will have no less than 1 dozen signs and instructions posted about the rules of this salon, in regards to your safety. It is now May 2023, and Dylan is quite concerned with masks and social distancing and gloves and hand sanitizer. For your protection, of course. Be also aware that there is no food allowed, or pets or cell phone use in this place. And if you forget there's a sign to dictate your visit. Actually, 2 signs. Also remember this is a cash only place. There's a sign for that. And if you cannot adhere by these regulations----again for your safety----you may leave (There's an exit sign to point out the only door in and out of this some 200 square foot shop. Very helpful). So basically my haircut was safe. I felt safe. I didn't have to really use my mind too much since all instructions for conducting business were readily available. That was the most stable and secure hair cut I have ever experienced. Dylan even wears a mask and gloves while conducting business on your scalp, so you know he takes safety seriously. Last tip, make an appointment. There's a clipboard outside with a pen and also you can call ahead to safely make an appointment to conduct business. Be safe out there. read more

You will be pleasantly surprised. He's extremely kind and patient. He went to study hair in New York before moving to California. He makes sure that his cuts are perfect before you leave the salon (cuts it, dries it, straightens it to see if his cuts are straight, cuts it again if necessary). Time to update you guys on this amazing salon... It has been 8 months since I've gotten my hair done and I trust no one but Dylan! I'm actually sitting in his chair right now getting my hair dyed. The balayage has been in for 8 months (which I did with Dylan of course) and still looked amazing. Crazy right?! I love coming in, not knowing what I want to do, and just simply ask "what do you think would look best?" I absolutely trust his decision and that he only has good intentions with my hair. I said one color, I wanted to change my look, I was over the balayage look lol. But a dark chocolate brown is what the verdict became. Nonetheless I was late for my appt but of course, he is patient and very meticulous about his work - which is amazing because it comes out just as you would imagine. Did I also mention that he's the type to really ask about what you would want and try to make the best suggestions? Or that he also asks about your day and really makes a good connection with his clients. Again ladies - come into a salon where you'll be serviced well and walking out even happier with the results than you would have thought. Cheers to an amazing hair stylist! This is the worst haircut salon I've ever been to. When I walked in I asked if he's taking walk ins when there was no one there and no appointments and he told me "I'm taking walk ins but wont accept you even though I have no customers right now." I then asked what's the reasoning, he then said "I just don't want to" despite the fact that he allowed other customers to do walks in front of me and cut their hair. I asked do you have something against me and he said "I just don't want to serve you specifically." I then left and went to another barber. I even showed him my vaccination card and properly wore a mask but yet he still said "I don't want to serve you specifically". I think I found a new decently priced hairstylist. He really took his time on my haircut and he even stayed open a little later so my BF could get his haircut the same night. If you're looking for a conversationalist and an experience go somewhere else. If you're looking for a nice, professional cut at a good price, you'll like going here. Dylan is a true professional. I am primarily a european-american male in my mid 20s, and Dylan rocks out on my hair for under $20, and under a half hour. He's open till 7, which makes life easy on my since I work 10 minutes away and I get off work at 6:30. He cuts hair right, I just tell him that I want it clean looking, short on the sides, texturized on the top, and the man makes it work. Shampoo after is awesome, and I'm about to call him up and ask him what products he used post-shampoo, because they're way better than what I use right now (which I purchased for like $4 at a CVS, ew). I see no reason why Dylan shouldn't have 5 stars! Stay in business, Dylan, and keep the haircuts rolling! Sorry I'm poor or I would tip you more! read more

I was very pleasantly surprised by the great haircut I received at Dylan Salon. I have had some awful haircuts in the past and I decided to give Dylan Salon a try because my mom gets her hair done here. The place is very tiny but there is a good selection of magazines and Dylan is friendly. I have extremely thick, long, straight hair and I wanted long, blended layers. Dylan was very thorough throughout this haircut. He made sure the hair on each side was even and he did a great haircut. Even better, it was $35 for the haircut. I had my 3rd haircut from Dylan the other week and again, he did an amazing job. He was incredibly thorough and listened to what I asked for. I will be going back! EDIT: It has been a little more than a year since I've been going to Dylan and although, he is a nice guy I will not be going back. The haircuts have been getting more and more sloppy and more than that, Dylan is always running late. For the last five times I have made an appointment Dylan has been between 20 and 30 minutes late. Why does he even make appointments? He takes too many walk ins. His excuse for being late is everything from "I had too many walk ins" to "I need to eat lunch". Sorry it's become unacceptable. You pay for what you get. Haircut has stopped being good and I'm sorry I don't have an an hour and a half to spend at your salon for a dry haircut without a shampoo and a blowdry. Originally found him on yelp when I was tired of paying $50 for a short hair cut and spending 1 hour in the chair.Dylan May speak little but he understands what you want and if you trust him you will be very happy with the results. The fact that he is super busy on the weekends and weekday afternoons is a testament to his skill. People from all age groups and income levels come to him from all over the peninsula. When using the razor, he gave me even pain. He was not very gentle to my head. I guess he was in a rush, but this is not the proper way to provide an haircut. The place was wide open and had plenty of spaces so I just walked in the salon hoping to get a haircut this afternoon. The only barber inside was very rude and treated me harshly. He yelled at me: "YOU WAIT OUTSIDE!" This place could use a good customer service reminder. There were no signs to indicate that the waiting area is outside. He followed me outside to berate me by saying "YOU MUST BE ON THE APPOINTMENT SHEET TO GET HAIRCUT!" I then said have a good day and walked away. I don't even get treated like this in fine hair salons in the better areas. No one should. I would stay away from this place and take my business elsewhere. No wonder this place got bad reviews recently. The good ones that used to work there must have moved on to stay away from this guy to avoid workplace conflicts. Jagged haircut for 14 dollars with hair being pulled off my head because of crappy equipment. There is also no sense of craftsmanship here, owner yells at you for checking the uneven haircut because inspecting their work is making their other customers (potential victims) wait. They don't even show you the back of your head with a mirror at the end before rushing you out the door; I am fairly certain my hair is missing a chunk in the back because of them.
