I don't usually leave negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share this experience. On 7/16/25, I brought my son in for a haircut. Unfortunately, his regular stylist--who is great with kids and always does a good job--was on break. Another stylist stepped in, and during the haircut, she ended up cutting the skin on the back of his neck. Her only explanation was that he was moving, but I was there the entire time and didn't see him moving much at all. Honestly, anyone working with children should anticipate some movement and know how to handle it safely. What upset me the most was the complete lack of accountability--no apology, no concern, just dismissal. This is not my son's first haircut, and we've never had an incident like this before. I'm extremely disappointed and frustrated. Please be cautious when choosing a stylist here, especially for children. I'd like to share what a great experience at had this specific El Dorado Hills location. I placed an appointment online and was able be scheduled before closing hours. The employees Brianna and Hannah were assisting customers while taking walk ins. The wait time was minimal and I was promptly helped by my scheduled appointment. Brianne was friendly, knowledgeable, and took my preferences into consideration while inputting her experience and expertise into delivering a wonderful haircut that exceeded my expectations. Hannah was also very attentive and personable with her client during my haircut and she has done a phenomenal job in the past during all my visits. The staff here truly seem to enjoy their work and take pride in their ability to service their customers. In addition to providing efficient and quality service, these two demonstrated how impactful it is to create a unique and pleasant experience for their clients. When you come to a cheap salon it's always a gamble. I made the mistake of stopping in between appointments at my regular salon just for a trim here. The salon was empty with three people available to take me on a cold rainy day. I was immediately taken to a station for a half inch trim. It's hard to mess up on a half inch trim. The entire process took less than five minutes, after which the stylist asked "is that good?". You tell me I can't see the back of my head. There was awkward and brief convo and it felt like she was annoyed to have to have a client in the chair. The trim was completely uneven, blunt tips and whole sections she entirely missed. I had to ask her to go back and trim the front. Zero effort or care. Later I see large sections in the front that weren't trimmed. Never again. It's not worth it. read more

Wow, just got butchered badly here, stay away... went from bad to worse as she started asking for help, I should have just stood up and stoped the cut at that point... but they tried to fix it and made it worse. She blamed my cowlick , but that's why I asked for it to be longer... she cut it to short exposing the cowlick, then decided to keep cutting back and forth , both sides to hide until I had a bad buzz on the sides with a patch of hair on top.. Lauren cut my 5 yo son's hair. She had an attitude right from the get go. The customer she cut before us was trying to chat with her and she never replied at all. Not only was she not friendly, but rather rude. My son turned away a little when she was going around his ears (to be expected especially from a 5 yo...) HAIRCUT HORROR!! I would give this place one star but I'm bumping it up to 2 stars only because Sandy was so great to help out. This was the second time my 12-year old son came in to get his haircut. From his first visit (about a month ago), Jacque made note in the system that his cut used a #2 guard on the sides and back. A stylist (I won't mention her name) sat my son down in the chair, put the smock around his neck and started with the clippers. I told the front desk receptionist to make sure they had his last haircut in the system and she confirmed. I was sitting in the lobby watching, looked down at my phone, and then looked up again and saw the stunned look of the stylist. I looked at my son and she had buzzed off the top of his head. But what was really bad was that she stopped right at the top of his head so she left half of his hair on top! Which made it look worse because my son had about 4 inches of length on top. I could see my son tearing up because she totally buzzed the top off and there was no going back at this point either. How horrible and sad my son felt! Sandy, another stylist, came over to me and told me she would fix his hair and make it right. But how do you fix a haircut that has been buzzed off? Sandy faded the sides and gave him a nice sharp side burn. Sandy did the best that she could do to make my son feel some-what okay with a buzzed hairstyle he wasn't suppose to have. She also assured me that he could come back every week to fade the sides until the style was back his original cut (which again was about 4 inches on top). I've taken son here a couple of times, and I'm happy with the cuts he gets. It's a no frills place, and the stylists are always good with my son. It can be tough to cur my son's hair at times. Sometimes, he is perfectly still, and other times he moves around. I think the stylists I've come across have been patient and kind. It's not easy to reign in a young kid who had the energy of a fireball. read more

My wife has a common disease that compromises her immune system so even as we've been living our lives, we've been cautious and value businesses that are acting responsibly. This Great Clips location had a convenient check-in app, limited seating in the waiting area, masks were required and staff was pleasant, masked and attentive to cleanliness. Thank you Great Clips for accommodating my special needs child. She cannot wear a mask for an extended time and is very wiggly. ( state law states that children under2 and those with disabilities are exempt from the mask mandate ). They were so nice and continued to help her despite her constant moving. I took grandson and self to get haircuts Saturday. Did registration and notifications app. Worked great. Safety guidelines all in place. My grandson very picky as he's only had his hair cut by same person for 10 years. Me too actually. He was so happy with Ariel that he said "I'll go back to her grandma ". That says volumes. She stylist today offered to comp me today's haircut, but decided to only discount it. Gee thanks... The online waitlist is pretty convenient. I like that you have an estimated wait time and then a text when you are within 15 minutes of being seen. I took my father (in his 80s) for a haircut and Simone did an excellent job cutting his long overdue hair, neck, sideburns. He was extremely pleased with the care and attention she gave, even though they were seriously slammed with ppl, probably coming in from different counties because of shutdowns. I went in two weeks ago without an appointment and was told 20 minutes...40 minutes later I walked out of the establishment and went elsewhere, as there were still people ahead of me. Yesterday decided to take my son there thinking the previous experience was just a bad day for them or just a fluke. I was told 20 minutes, 25 maximum so we said ok. 45 minutes later my son finally got his haircut??? Set proper expectations. If I had been told 45 minutes from the beginning I could have gone elsewhere. The cuts are fine, but the expectations will keep me out of there for good. I recently moved to El Dorado Hills and thought I would Give this location a try using the great clips app scheduler. Although everyone was nice there was a mix up in the scheduler and I was skipped. Of course being pressed for time and long overdue for a haircut I was pretty irritated. I did complain and to my surprise I received a message from the owner himself apologizing and asking me to give them another try. My son and I have been back and both received great haircuts. Went in for a haircut today, first off I have never waited 40 minutes for a haircut in my life but I was in a bind so I sat through. I got Shelby pretty sure and she was rushing the whole time, nicked the back of my head a bunch of time and when I asked her to fade the sides in more she gave a look in the mirror as if she didn't even want to do it, she then did a whoreable job and then after going over it twice she said "that good" I just said yes so that she couldn't screw up my hair anymore.
