Walked in this morning and I was checked in for a hair cut for my 2 year old son. An older women (didn't get her name since she never introduced herself) took us to her chair and asked what I wanted for his hair cut. I showed her a picture of the last hair cut he received there (in the photo it's obvious it's that location with everything photographed in the background) she responds and says that a barber style hair cut and she isn't a barber. I said, "oh that was done here not at a barber). She then aggressively grabs my sons head and he becomes agitated ( he's been getting His hair cut every 3 weeks since he was 10 months old and he's always been really good about it) she kept saying she was getting dizzy with him moving around so much. As I held my phone for my son to watch a show as a distraction, she asked in how he usually was with hair cuts. I reply that he's usually really good. She then reply's and says well it must be me then. She then asked another associate if she could help. The other associate was working on another client at that moment and she kept asking her for help because my son kept moving around. I told her if she was more comfortable I don't mind waiting for the other associate to finish the haircut. I was fine waiting. She then grabs a pair of scissors and says let me at least do the front of his hair and I said that's fine. I don't know if he's going to sit for you. She then grabs them aggressively by the cheeks and tries to cut his hair with the scissors and of course he starts moving around trying to get out of her death grip. I told her that's enough. It's fine. I can wait for the other associate. She then slams her scissors and a comb on the counter and says to me you're blaming me. And I said I didn't say anything you asked me how he was and I said he's usually fine. I never said anything about you. She then slams her scissors on the counter and says to me I've been doing hair for 30 years and I've never had this shit happened to me before. She continued to argue with me for her behavior. Mind you this entire time I'm standing there holding my phone for my son in disbelief. I couldn't believe her behavior at this moment and said please don't touch him again. I can wait for the other associate. At that time the other associate, Peggy was ringing out her client and then moved us to her station low and behold, my son was perfect with Peggy and she was able to do the haircut without a hitch. I did call corporate and I did report the initial cosmetologist. I can't believe that a person like this works with the public as aggressive as she is and works on children and elderly clients. I can't imagine how she treats other clients who do not have an advocate there with them. read more

The location in countryside is absolutely awful. 2 women In there could barely speak English and were more interested in their cell phones than helping customers. The woman cutting my hair nearly stabbed me in the eye with the scissors. I will never go back there again. read more

Walked in at 6:45 lady said I'm done but The sign says "open" and your hours are till 7? Maybe they should change their hours to 6:45 all great clips are getting so rude got to find a new place or maybe great clips needs a revamp. Customer service is a 0. This place REFUSED to cut my hair!!! The woman was obstinate, ornery, argumentative, unrelenting and absolutely refused to touch my head. After I had waited and was already in the chair. She tore away the cape and told me to go to a barber. My hair was matted in the back from an extended illness and bed rest. It would have been easy to cut the matted part off from behind. So easy that I did it myself back at home with blunt-point child's scissors. I trimmed up the rest of my head with scissors and a beard trimmer. Actually doesn't look that bad. I also saw this woman's previous senior client on her way out and I thought then that her cut looked TERRIBLE! Like it was just hacked. Worse than what I did myself. So ... this place may have cheap prices but this is what you get. read more

I went in for a routine bang trim and the stylist didn't do what I asked. I asked for angled, side-sweated bangs multiple time and even used my finger to demonstrate how I wanted my bangs to blend into the rest of my hair. I thought it was weird that she pulled my bangs forward like you would to cut blunt bangs but by the time I noticed she cut them all one length with no blending it was too late. So now I get to rock this weird half blunt bang look for the next few months. Great. I understand this is a budget and quick salon, but you NEED to make sure you know what your client wants and not ignore basic directions. read more

Sept 2024. Just before noon. I walk into great clips in countryside Illinois. Maybe a 3 minute wait. Then a lady seats me in her chair and asks what I want. My reply was, " shaved on the sides short and FLAT on top. I don't know why she bothered asking me, because she did what she wanted, basically cut it short on the sides #1, not quite as short on top #3 And used a #2 to slightly fade it together. I came in with it flat on top just too long. I walked out not even CLOSE to what I had asked for. She rushed through the haircut it was under 4 minutes if that. I paid and left and met up with my daughter, who immediately brought me back to get my hair cut cleaned up where she missed o. The back of my head and between my head and ears. AND the fade was alot lower on my left . My daughter pointed out first the errors on the back of my head, which the lady blamed on poor lights in the saloon. And when pointing out between my ears and scalp, the lady said OH, WE DONT CUT ON THE EARS, ? Then, she trimmed near 1 ear and I had to clean it up myself at home. BTW. There were no other customers in the store but me. Terrible rush job, terrible hair cut , and terrible excuses by the woman who cut my hair at the countryside Illinois location. 0 stars, walk right past this place. read more

I guess we can all go out and get our haircut and stuff again now which is pretty great! I have been coming to this Great Clips for about three years and I love it! I used to pay tons of money for trendy hair salons and honestly the stylists I have run into in this (Countryside) location are friendly and very talented! I am a long hair guy. I like to get my hair trimmed about every 6 weeks max. It was crazy not being able to go in for about 14 weeks but when I did my friends were there waiting, and I got my hair back into shape! You should get their app because right now you can anticipate some long waits. Also, make sure to tip these guys well because they really deserve it for all of the hard work! Came here to get a few inches off. The stylist did not even wet my hair, just cut it dry, straight across. Looking at it now it is clearly choppy and uneven. There are chunks that are much longer than the rest. Several people have agreed that it needs to be fixed and it looks like a mess. Would not recomend, for a few more bucks you can go somewhere better. read more

I like the balance between comfort and time he managed to cut. For the first time,I feel like I was not sitting in a conveyer chair going through a robotic process. Definitely a 5 star establishment. The classiest of the class. The only reason for negative reviews is from jealous people who couldn't cut it when they worked there probably. This place is bad. Their mobile check in doesn't allow you to do anything until the store is 'open'. I get here they opened 5 minutes early with a line out the door and now it shows 32 wait time. Christie gives me the latest "$70" haircut I used to get um, elsewhere, for much less than half of that. With tip. She's got talent, stays up with current trends, goes to training regularly, knows her stuff, and is a complete joy. If you try her, you'll be impressed with how she reasons through ideas on styles. I used to go to this place but no more. WORST place in the area and way overpriced for the service. I went and thought I would be next in line and they told me that there were two people ahead of me and I should have booked? Seriously? I never was told this in the past. Worst haircut of my life. I came in to just get my bangs and top of my hair trimmed and before I knew it, the stylist took the back of my hair and cut a huge hunk. I did not want a haircut, only a trim. I had no choice but to let her layer it. I later was able to check out the job she did and it looked like it was whacked off in the back. So many uneven layers. By far the best there has been Jenny Jones. She's quick, picks up on a conversation from our last get together, and always has me leaving refreshed of a great haircut. Very poor job on a basic fade. Just wanted to get the hair off of my ears so I asked for a low fade just above the ears. The barber ended up cutting too high up the head and there was not enough hair left to fade it in. I'm stuck with a unappealing shelf on my head for a couple weeks now. Great clips usually does fine but the barbers might benefit from some re-training. read more

Between Angela and Kristin you can not go wrong. They take care of my children and give them the best fade that "top stylists" are not able to do. I have been gettting my graduated bob from the both of them for the last year. Anyone who goes to them should always bring a picture because that is the best way to communicate awesome results. Both girls have fun personalities and will give you a good laugh. Make sure you tip them well. They deserve it. =) read more

All these stylists want to do is sit and talk. When I came in with my son, I got the feeling that none of them really wanted to do his hair. They looked me over, no one greeted me, they just waited for me to speak first. Then this very unhappy to be working girl, gave my son the worst child's hair cut that I have ever seen. They also were not very kid friendly. I will never subject my son to this wicked girl again. She was no stylist, I will tell you that! I complained, but the manager never called me back.
