**** I wanted to take a moment to update my previous review below. I received a phone call today from one of the franchise owners here in Bakersfield regarding the incident. She took the time to listen and address my concerns, and had already reached out to the customer involved as well. I truly appreciate when a business takes responsibility for thier employees and goes the extra mile to make things right. It's definately a coachable moment for thier team. Prior to this, I had never experienced any issues and have always enjoyed coming here, especially since it's so close to my home. I will most definitely be returning as a customer because the owner took the time to ask questions. **** I brought my mother in for a haircut yesterday, and I left extremely upset by the behavior of one of your staff members. During our visit, a gentleman--who appeared to have autism--came in to have a previous haircut corrected. Unfortunately, the way he was treated was very disappointing. The stylist spoke at him rather than to him, showed visible frustration when he didn't understand her instructions, and handled the situation with a noticeable lack of patience and respect. Instead of making the customer feel valued and heard, she belittled him and made it clear that she viewed him as an annoyance. After finishing his haircut, she continued discussing him with another employee who was assisting a different client, including that customer in the conversation for others to hear. This was both unprofessional and disheartening to witness. This experience was upsetting enough that I will not be returning as a customer. This behavior does not reflect the level of professionalism and respect your company should uphold. read more

I usually don't leave negative reviews, but I feel that paying $30 for a haircut deserves more attention and professionalism from the person providing the service. I came in today for a haircut, and there were no customers waiting, so I thought I was going to have a great experience. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The two employees were engaged in a conversation, and the stylist who attended me continued talking to her coworker throughout most of my haircut. When I sat down, she asked, "Number two, right?" I said yes, and she immediately continued her conversation with her coworker. While she did a fair job with my haircut, I honestly felt that her attention was focused more on her conversation than on me as her customer. The conversation continued almost the entire time she was cutting my hair, until her coworker eventually left. I understand that coworkers may chat while working, but when you are paying $30 for a service, you expect the person cutting your hair to be focused on you and the quality of their work. I also overheard them discussing places to visit and recommending things to do in Tijuana, which made it even more apparent that their conversation was the priority rather than the customer in the chair. The haircut itself was okay, but the overall experience was disappointing and did not feel very professional. Unfortunately, I don't think I will be coming back. read more

Great Clips is "great" for affordable and quick haircuts. One can get in same-day without an appointment. You can check online how long the wait is, and even enter the queue remotely as well. I've been known to jump in the queue, squeeze in some gaming or errands until I'm on deck, and then roll in roughly around the same time they're ready for me. It has a relaxed yet efficient vibe. When you have to pay $30 for a ten minute hair cut you would think you would get what you asked for. The info is in the computer and she even asked me how I wanted it. I said just clean it up, I like my hair longer in the winter. What I got was the shortest haircut that I have had in 40 years. I mean (I am going for a job interview short !!) I knew it was short without putting on my glasses. OK I won't make a big deal out of it and I just left. My advice to the lady that cut my hair is "Get off the damn phone and do your job !!" My old barber is 50 miles out of my way, but he never disappoints me and he knows my name without looking in the computer. read more

It's good to have a hair place to take the kids for a quick cut. Every time we go to GC we see all kinds, all genders and all ages getting their hair cut. It works for everyone. I love their regular hours. They are not closed on Sundays or Mondays and are typically open on regular holidays. It is very comfortable and friendly and easy going. We just went in January 2024, and the regular cut was priced at $24 and we paid the extra $10 for a shampoo. This is very reasonable, as we would pay closer to $65 for my professional stylist to cut my daughter's hair in the same style. This is a great place for an easy cut/trim or in between a more professional stylist. Great with kids! read more

So I have never a bad experience when I've came here in the past. This time when I went there last Friday I had this lady (couldn't remember her name but she has short purple hair). I told her I wanted maybe 2 inches cut off. Well apparently she heard 6. Because she cut my hair that was halfway down my back, to my shoulders. On top of that, it was very uneven. I left not knowing about it being uneven. Once I got in the car I realized how much it was uneven, I went right back inside and another girl evened it out. The two stars are for the nice girl that cut it better. Because if she didn't, it would have been 0 stars. I know hair can grow back so I'm not that mad about it. I was greeted right away. They asked if I checked in online, and as always I had forgotten. No matter because my wait time was very minimal. Humiliating experience. I was made to feel as though my hair was beyond help. My hair had been growing out of a short pixie cut. I needed to have it cut into a transitional style. I asked to have the least amount of length cut in order to blend it all together. I thought this was a very simple explanation especially when communicating with a hair stylist. The first stylist started tugging at my hair saying it would be impossible to achieve. She had anger issues and I asked if someone else could do it. She agreed that would be best. While waiting for another stylist I saw her warning her about me. The second stylist was very nervous which made it very hard for me to communicate my request. My husband went in and a stud minus a cowlick catastrophe came out. This location was perfect and the staff was friendly.

Went in was skeptical at first mostly the ladies in there were snobby especially the front desk young lady. Was trying to ask a question but she would just walk away, krista did an amazing job on my godsons first hair cut, she was also very nice compared to the other ladies. THIS PLACE SUCKS!!!! Today I drove my 70 year old grandma over at this great clips location to get a very simple trim around the back of her neck area. Instead we received an uneven cut that was slanted, remaining long strands of hair that was uncut, and bad communication from the hairdresser who kept cutting off more hair when my grandma said that she has cut enough. And worst of all she was CUT by the hair trimmer the hairdresser was using! The fact that she didn't even see her own mistake or have the decency to inform me if she did see it is unacceptable. I do not recommend this location or any business with great clips and I am appalled by this careless service. read more

So it's been a couple years since my last review and I thought I would do a little update. We absolutely love this location for several reasons: 1, it is close to our house 2, online check in is a breeze 3, Kori!!!! We have continued to come to this location to have our trusted hairdresser cut my husband, son, and now our daughter's hair. She always gets it just right. Over the years we have tried one or two other locations when Kori was on vacation and have been disappointed with the cut on my husband and they not getting it just right but with Kori she knows how he likes it and cuts it perfect every time. My son has been coming to her since before he was comfortable getting his haircut and she was always able to calm him down and reassure him that it would be fine. I can safely say that we would follow Kori to whatever location she goes to. Our most recent visit was out of desperation and the story goes like this... My daughter has fairly long hair almost to the top of her rear end. I had gone out of town and at some point a cousin braided my daughter's hair. It got wet and during the unbraiding process got extremely tangled. After a couple days and a few family members trying to help while I was gone there was an extremely tight and dense knot in her hair. My daughter LOVES her long hair and is only 5 years old so once I got home I did everything I could to attempt to get the knot out. I finally reached a point where I exhausted my abilities and decided we needed to go to a professional since we really didn't want to have to cut her hair short if at all possible. I called and spoke to Kori the day before and she told me when she would be in and the best time to come down. The next day my daughter and I arrived with hope. Kori spent two hours on my daughter's hair and with lots of oils, brushes, combs, and thinning shears she got the knot out and was able to preserve the length of her hair. She even gave my daughter a little scalp massage when she washed it (after all the tugging and pulling she needed and loved it). I can't say thank you enough to Kori for helping us with "the knot". My daughter was extremely happy that we didn't have to cut her hair short and she still has her "princess hair". I will recommend Kori to anyone as long as she is a hairdresser. This company is extremely lucky to have someone so talented, sweet, kind and friendly working for them and the countless reviews prove how much of an asset she is!!! She did a shorter female-oriented haircut, I guess a longish pixie? I'm unsure, and hastily did my bangs so they are long, uncomfortable, and get in my eyes. I don't mean to be obnoxious with the constant updates on this one location but I need to give credit where credit is due. My son was sporadically seeing this wonderful stylist here for the past year and since I couldn't remember her name, I could never call to see what days she was working! (which is how I ended up with the last stylist. Ugh) Anyhow, it's Kori! I finally caught her a few months ago and we've been exclusively seeing her ever since. She's soooo sweet and attentive, and always amenable to fixing something without having an attitude about it. My daughter got her first haircut with Kori last year and she was the sweetest to her. I booked an appointment online at about 12:30pm and when I got to the location there was only one other customer besides me. I sat down for only a few minutes when I was called up. I had not gotten a haircut in a very long time and I'm picky about who cuts my hair. I was greeted by Cori and she had a very pleasant demeanor and was very professional. I told her how I wanted my hair cut and she cut it how I wanted. She gave me a couple of tips for how to care for my hair type. Overall I'm very pleased with my visit and I would go again. read more

We go to this location for myself and my two kids. They are always very friendly and professional. We always go to Kori, who is awesome. She is so personable and remembers everything about you, I feel as if she is more of a friend than a hair stylist. Conversations with her make the cut go by so fast. I have an usual salon I go to, but they were so busy that I couldn't even get in the door or make an appointment for the same day. I had an event I needed to attend the next day, so I decided to stop by Great Clips. I'm glad I did! They were professional and great conversationalist and they were able to cut mine and my sons hair to our satisfaction. I went here for over 1 year, had several hair cuts, told them the same thing each and every time and I got just what I asked for, they never ONCE over cut my hair. I recently moved and went to Gosford location (Adriane) , sorry to say NOT even the same experience, left Gosford in tears. I've been to this location twice before to get a haircut, both times were a great experience. This last time I went and didn't recognize any of the stylists, so crossed my fingers and hoped for the best! All I asked for was a simple "trim" and she couldn't even do that! I wanted all my hair to just be cut even, straight across the bottom, no layers, nothing absolutely complicated or anything. And this girl cut my hair all chewed up and raggedy looking. I mean if I wanted an amateur haircut, I would've asked my 12 year old to cut my hair. She basically cut my hair the same way a lay person whose never cut hair before would cut it. She pinned half my hair up and cut the bottom length and then let the rest of my hair down and cut the rest straight cross and that was it. Problem is she didn't bother to match the lengths together and I have all different lengths of hair! Some parts are long, others are shorter it looks horrible. Don't know where she went to school? Or if she's a recent graduate but girl, you definitely need more practice and you shouldn't be working yet if you can't even do a simple "trim" God knows what the heck you would've done if I had asked for a complicated hairstyle!! Kori does hair for both my husband and my toddler son and I'll only go when she's around. A few months back my husband and I brought our son in for his second-ever haircut in a salon and Kori happened to be the one who did it. She is very kind and patient and has great energy with kids. Kori also cuts my husband's hair quickly (some stylists agonize over it for way too long) and exactly the way he likes it, which has been touch and go when he sees different stylists, so we stick with her. This is the most greedy business I have experienced. They are very aggressive about pricing for mediocre haircuts. Try asking for a red cent off for any reason and you will be coldly and rudely dealt with. Sometimes you can buy prepaid haircuts but you can only use on the next visit. No refunds either. Very disappointed with yesterday haircut at NW Promenade, Bakersfield. This is 5th time i went there and 1st time bad experience. The girl started good but suddenly rushed and closed without asking if i am good although i showed her photograph of the haircut i want. I wanted layers. She did just once and bang! probably she had to rush somewhere or she was too tired. Now, my hair does not look like what i wanted.
