This is a fast food place so the food is definitely fast whether it is pick up or delivery. Consistently good. I get sweet and sour chicken mostly for lunch. Nothing over the top for fast food. But a consistent, reliable place for lunch specials. read more

Rating is back up to 5. Glad my last visit was just on a bad day. Also I asked them to add a little cornstarch to their sauces because they had a good flavor but were very watery--and they did! Ingredients are still very high quality and are not drowning in sugary sauces. Great China Kitchen is indeed great! No false advertising here. I'm fairly new to Oceanside and ordered from them for the first time yesterday. I placed my pick-up order using Grubhub via their Yelp page, which was quite convenient. They even called me later on to tell me my order was waiting for me. When I walked in, everyone were super polite and all smiles. No only did they throw in extra "silverware" just in case I needed it, but they didn't skimp one bit on the number of hot sauce packets when I requested some. Love that level of customer service! The beef and broccoli was right on par with my go-to takeout spots from over the years and their egg roll was exceptional! I also ordered their scallion pancakes and was so glad I did. There must have been 10 or more in the box too! It was stuffed. All in all, a SOLID option for local Chinese food. I'll definitely be ordering from them again. read more

We've eaten here in the past but we won't be back. Ordered very minimal amount of food... lo mein, fried rice, steamed dumplings and crab Rangoons. We were told 25 mins. At 40 mins we asked what was going on and they hadn't even finished our order and kept saying one minute. Granted they were super busy.but we saw mistake after mistake. People missing food. Super long waits and just telling people 25 mins when the wait was clearly muchhh longer. After about 50 mins we finally got our food. Brought it home and were extremely disappointed. I got a lot of food delivered from here and sad to say was a total waste ended up throwing everything in the garbage. Great China is very very good. Consistent tasty Chinese. Their soups are good. Spareribs are meaty and delicious. Always use their own homemade duck sauce and mustard. Not the packages. Much better. Or when they get so busy (during holidays) that you wait for what seems like an hour to pick up a takeout order. I have tried numerous Chinese food take-outs in the area and this is the only one that got the flavors just right for my taste. I have grown up eating Hot Wok Chinese food in Canarsie, which to date, remains for me the golden standard of Chinese take-out. So many places get the basic chicken or beef with broccoli wrong-either the beef is of an inferior quality, the sauce is too starchy or too sweet, and the broccoli is way overcooked. Here, they do it just right. The sauce is delicious, the meat is of a good quality and the broccoli are crunchy and green. The curry chicken is also the bomb, again, with this dish, I have eaten my share of bad curries where the sauce was too watery, not spicy enough, or the amount of chicken was too paltry. This is absolutely my favorite take-out place around! Pretty much everything I order from here is incredibly delicious, like the beef and broccoli, roast pork and mixed vegetables, the low mein and the fried rice. They also have some great soups like their house special soup which is pork, chicken, shrimp and vegetables. The best part is everything is really cheap, compared to other places, especially the soup and the rice. Where else can you get a pint of vegetable soup, a pint of wonton soup and pint of white rice for less than $5?
