The beach itself is a huge outdoor recreation area. We saw plenty of families enjoying BBQs and the water. There are plenty of grassy areas if you're not interested in getting wet. There's plenty of parking and the bathrooms are large with showers, toilets and changing areas. I will say that the bathrooms are great early in the day but when we returned, they were horrendous. They were obviously never cleaned throughout the day and there was water and used sanitary items everywhere, no toilet paper left, and the stalls were disgusting. I advise to do an early morning visit and leave around midday to avoid what I saw. I ended up just changing in my car. There was no way I would gave my kid changing in those conditions. We stayed at the Wyndham cabins nearby, I'm the Fall years ago, and never even knew this placed existed until accompanying friends on a rafting trip. I would definitely come back but never will stay late unless I'm staying nearby and can wait to change clothing.

When I was a kid the beach was a lot bigger but they made the water walk and sidewalk above bigger, now the beach is a sliver. I would get a raft and float with it tied to the beach to enjoy the outside. Plenty of parking both street and lot. The benches are not the most comfortable, metal and thin. But they have holes for umbrellas if you want to do a lunch, or enjoy book club outdoors. The skyline isn't much but sunsets can make even the most industrial of places appealing. there are bathrooms but I've heard they're never open and I saw a porta potty the last time I was there. I think there's an official 'park' someone who either checks safety or fishing permits, I'm not sure. Down the block you have Moby Dicks, a small park with outdoor fitness, bikes to rent, and a new concert area for live music. Nice breeze and good place to just relax.

When he literally did the same swim/jump when he was 1 year younger here safely many times AND as parents we were watching and more than ok with him doing it, there is no reason for them to ruin his day and keep him from hanging out with his brothers and cousin. The staff here are INCOMPETENT and IGNORANT, including the snarky manager Julia!!! Just BE WARNED that they can single a child out arbitrarily and pass/fail them on a whim from teenage staff even after you pay and ruin your child's day! Since your response was spin and avoided all FACTS!!! Here are some questions that you IGNORED... Mt. Gretna Lake and Beach why was my son "safe" to multiple lifeguards a year prior who allowed him to go past the rope many times and do the jump? (I have video evidence) Were they not doing their job??? Why was my son the only child targets by the lifeguards and made to do the test? There were many children that day his size or smaller. That included a boy who was terrified to jump and paced the dive for nearly 10min holding on for dear life. More importantly, the boy could not swim at all and his parents had to bring him a tube to drag him back. My son swam unassisted last year and on Sunday. Not a single lifeguard whistled or said a thing to the terrified boy and his parents and they even allowed him to go past the rope after that whole incident. I also have video footage of this. What do you have to say about this incident that went on for 10min and was obvious to anyone there that day? Your staff is incompetent, unprofessional, and unreasonable. You targeted my family and let other major safety concerns slide. I was/am furious and will spread her word. Good thing everything on here in FACT and I can prove with videos unlike your biased spin! It was once part of the Morris Canal which stretched from Phillipsburg to Newark some 90 miles carrying iron, coal and zinc in the 1800's. Lake Hopatcong has both private and public beach access. Lake Hopatcong State Park has the largest public beach access. Swimming is restricted to Wed.-Sun. from 10am-9:30pm while lifeguards are on duty. The park itself opens at 8am. Lake Hopatcong has a short but nice sand beach and swimming area. Be aware that once the parking area is filled everyone coming later will be turned away. If you get to the park by 8am, hike the short trails or start up your grill for breakfast, lunch or dinner. All the grill areas have picnic tables and most have tree shaded locations. They are first come first serve.. The park also has a boat launch for larger motor boats, kayaks, sailboats, jetskies etc that can be brought unto the lake..A sand court volleyball area, basketball courts, a soccer field and playground equipment are on-site, as well. For those that have a New Jersey fishing license, fishing areas are available. Large mouth bass, sunfish, catfish, perch and pickerel can be caught. In the winter you can ice fish. The restrooms have showers and changing rooms, The concession stand has fair prices and serves burgers, hot dogs, ice cream, funnel cakes, and drinks. Dogs are premitted but must be kept on a leash no longer then six feet.

I decided to participate in a 3 mile moonlit hike which was hosted by our lovely park ranger Rachel. Lake Nockamixon is a large park with multiple hiking trails. Our partucular trail was paved with color poles to let us know we were on the right path. Throughout our walk we were able to gaze in the sky and see the stars and other constellations. There's also benches and two spacious parking lots. Lake Nockamixon also is a great relaxing place to go fishing and moon gazing! I look forward to returning!

There's a specific tented area with benches on the boardwalk where Christian services are held multiple times a day. You'll also find people on the boardwalk handing out tracts. If that's not your thing, just keep walking--they don't pressure you, and once you're actually on the beach, it all fades into the background. What really stood out to me was how pleasant and peaceful everything felt. Parking is free with lots of street parking available, and you can get from your car to the sand in seconds--which is a huge plus. The scenery is beautiful, bathrooms are clean, and there are food trucks around for when you get hungry. We forgot our umbrella one day and ended up renting one. It was super easy--$16, and you can pay with cash. They let you keep it until 4:45 pm and even come around to collect it for you. Chairs are also available to rent. For beach entry, however, it's cash-free--you scan the QR code and pay online. Overall, I loved the atmosphere here. Everything felt calm, well-kept, and welcoming. I can't wait to return--definitely one of the most peaceful beach experiences I've had.
