Stunning views of Lake Nockamixon!! I came here to connect with my home away from home which is good ole mother nature! I decided to participate in a 3 mile moonlit hike which was hosted by our lovely park ranger Rachel. Lake Nockamixon is a large park with multiple hiking trails. Our partucular trail was paved with color poles to let us know we were on the right path. Throughout our walk we were able to gaze in the sky and see the stars and other constellations. There's also benches and two spacious parking lots. Lake Nockamixon also is a great relaxing place to go fishing and moon gazing! I look forward to returning! read more

A great park with boating, fishing, camping - a pool and facilities and a family spot. Bring a picnic lunch and stay for the day. We love it here. Can get crowded on summer weekends. We try to go in the spring and fall to avoid the crowds. It's empty during the winter but so peaceful and beautiful. Don't miss the marina area, especially in April when the Purple Martins come to nest. Fascinating. Nature is so important. We must take care of our earth. read more

What a fun place to mountain bike! I've been here twice and honestly it's my second favorite place to bike. First would be 6 mile run park in New Jersey. Make no mistake that some of these trails can be tough to ride. Especially in the fall, the roots and rocks are just covered by leaf litter and hard to see. But it's such a scenic place. Sometimes you feel like you have the trails all to yourself. They circle around Lake Nockamixon and it's just a beautiful way to spend a day. Be sure to check out the wave bridge and the gnomes. They're not what you expect! Haha. I will definitely come back when the weather gets better. If you're looking for a place to eat after riding I would recommend Momoyama in Willow Grove. It's about 45 minutes away but the combination short rib is worth the drive! read more

What a wonderful get away. There are cabins to rent in the woods right by the lake and it is a perfect retreat from the world. Funny enough we ended up ordering Popeye Chicken for delivery one night and the delivery guy said this was the strangest delivery of his lifetime which illustrates maybe your want to bring your own food just incase the delivery guy gets creeped out delivering to a remote cabin in the woods lol. There are many activites in the summer time however we stayed one night and mainly talked without the nusainces of the world to distract us, just perfect if you ask me and definitely different from the normal things this world tries to throw down our throats whether it be advertisements or marketing 24/7. I would love to come back and explore more of the area and of course roast marshmellows by the fire pit which is outside every cabin just a few steps away from your front door. I've been to parks across the country. This is still one of my very favorites. There's of course the lake. They rent out boats in the warmer months which I did as a kid and which I still remember fondly. There's a swimming pool which while not the cheapest is still much less expensive than Perkasie borough where I live which charges (get this) $30 per adult per day. Nockamixon charges $8 for residents $12 per non resident. It's cheaper fir seniors and kids under 42" are free. This of course may change so check out their website here https://www.dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/StateParkPrices/Swimming/Pages/default.aspx There's of course tons of hiking and fishing and everything else a park in Pennsylvania has to offer. But did you know there's a waterfall on the other side of the park? It's on 563. You have to keep watching along the left as you come from 113 or you might miss it entirely. Once you see it though you'll want to park and hike down to the bottom where the creek flows. We were there yesterday and saw several heron, a water moccasin that caught a fish in its mouth (See pics) and a very large fish which I think was in the pike family. Did you also know there's cabins available for rent? Also off of 563. You need to book them well in advance. I just priced them at $107.00 a night and $477 a week. Discovered their BED BUG INFESTATION our second night in cabin #2 with my sister and I waking up to severe BITES. Totally freaked out we all scanned the rooms finding BED BUGS EVERYWHERE! The walls, crawling on the mattress, in between our sheets, and on top of our belongings. Even another online guest review in 2013, reported the SAME CABIN #2, FOR BED BUGS INFESTATION! The staff ONLY offered and provided the $150 rental refund, but I called the manager Jennifer, explaing how we basically threw away the majority of our belongings, and are merely requesting a $350 compensation to replace my daughters essentials: playpen, carrier, stroller; even provided them receipts... fair? Over a month later, back and forth with Management a final letter from the state, denying our claim. While my sister is left with physical scarring. (Pics attached) Do yourself a favor, stay somewhere else! Not worth the risk mentally, physically, and financially! read more

Anyone who enjoys Lake Nockamixon or any PA state park owes a debt of gratitude to Dr. Maurice Goddard. Dr. Goddard was the head of the PA Department of Forests and Waters which eventually became the Department of Environmental Resources. He was in office for twenty four years and during the terms of six different governors (aka impossible in today's political landscape) and during that time he made it his goal to have a PA state park within 25 miles of every PA state resident. Although Goddard quickly improved the professionalism of the department by eliminating the political appointments, increased the number of college educated employees and got two voter approved bond issues passed he did fall short of his goal. Even though Goddard fell short of his goal he efforts greatly expanded the quality and reach of the PA state park system. One of the parks that was created during Goddard's tenure in 1973 was Lake Nockamixon. Today Nockamixon has got a lot of things going on. * Various areas of picnic benches * A swimming pool from Memorial Day to Labor Day (no swimming in the lake) * Six different boat launch areas along with available rentals * Fishing * Hunting * Biking * Mountain Biking * Horseback Riding * Educational Programs * Disc Golf Course * Cabins & a Hostel The one thing I find funny about some of Yelp reviews is where other Yelpers use words like remote or a bit of a hike because the lake is only a few minutes away from civilization in Quakertown proper. I mean if you want remote try some of the parks in Western PA because they are truly remote versus here where in under fifteen minutes you can be eating a Big Mac at a McD's, shopping at a grocery store or filling up at a gas station. The other thing that is noteworthy is that Nockamixon is large. The lake itself is 1400+ acres and the park itself is over 5000 so trying to see everything all at once is not possible and honestly why would you want to? There is so much diversity which changes a bit in each season that coming here year round is a perfect way to make use of your tax dollars for something positive because either way you're paying for it, so you might as well see what the hell is going on. Plenty of beautiful scenery, trails and a pretty large and beautiful lake. This is one of the best parks in the area. Its actually over like 5000 acres of land. They even have a swimming pool and playgrounds for your little ones. Fully equipped parks!! This is great if you don't have a pool at home. This is a really good place for fishing as well. You can't rent a boat or kayak to hit the lake and enjoy the water. It's pet friendly but please be courteous and make sure they are leashed. Its also really important that you clean up after your animals. read more

This park is beautiful and has facilities for all types of outdoor activities. You need to enter the park at the correct entrance for your planned activity as there isn't a road which goes through the whole park. The only unpleasantness is that the outhouses are rather gross. So stop somewhere before getting to the park to take care of those needs. read more

New and improved trails system that is well maintain and isn't too technical and hard-tails are just fine. 8+ miles loop that will bring you through a cedar forest, rock garden, humpy bumpy zig zag, stream crossings, stumps and roots, switchbacks, tight squeezes and even pass Gnome home. Gorgeous facilities, clean restrooms. Lots of picnic tables- the marina is beautiful- tons of boats. It wasn't crowded during the week but I bet it is full of boaters on the weekend. They offer kayaks for rent- very cheap. It was a great place for a picnic. read more

This is a review of the SNACK BAR at the pool. First, the food selection is comparable to the waiting room at a state prison. Although the prices were reasonable for the depressing selection, we would happily pay more for a digestible snacks. They have a minimal offering of frozen candy bars and some water ice / ice cream (looked fine). We bought a $3 large soft pretzel (no regrets) and frozen candy bar for $2+. The lowest point is the frozen pizza (I imagine it is very popular in 3rd world orphanages) I don't know if the employees would be happier if they had the selections available at other pool snack bars, but they seem to want to be there as much as we wanted their services and food. FYI: No outside food is allowed inside the pool area BUT, you are allowed to go outside the fenced area to picnic/grill and return to swim. Please know that we LOVED the park and plan on returning with our well stocked cooler. read more

My family chose Nockamixon State Park for our annual family picnic this year. The males in our family came out early in the morning to "lay claim" to a spot of land where we set up the grill, as well as volleyball net, and other outdoorsy games. There were a gazillion mosquitos when we arrived, but nothing a few tiki torches, citronella lamps, and repeated use of OFF spray couldn't handle....The benches and tables were old and worn, as well as covered in moss, but we brought tablecloths and bench covers so that wasn't a real problem. Most of us just brought our own outdoor folding chairs and tables anyway. The kids really enjoyed the pool, but complained that it wasn't a heated pool and they could only stay in for a short while before their teeth were chattering. It was a pretty warm day when we went. The pool costs $7. I didn't desire to use the pool, but I thought it odd that I couldn't even go anywhere near the pool to watch the kiddies have fun, unless I paid the admission fee. Nockamixon is a very picturesque park, and fairly well maintained. The lakeside is absolutely peaceful and beautiful. There you can fish and boat, but if you decide that's not your thing, there are walking and biking trails, too. The park is roughly 45-60 minutes from Philadelphia, and is open from sunrise to sunset. read more

This is a huge lake, and I mean H U G E! It is actually a reservoir that was created by putting a dam on Tohickon Creek. It has a large variety of fish (and they are fairly eager to eat your bait even from bank fishing) You can come for a day or stay for a week because they have lodging nearby. Has a fairly large marina and many indigenous plants and animals. Just a pleasure to be here! read more

My two visits to this park have been just divine. Both times I had my hiking trails all to myself, like literally did not see another human being the whole time. The only humans I've seen were rowing around the lake in various aquatic vessels. Me, I'm there for the solitude and the photos, and I got lots of both. Some of the pathways are not well maintained, which is good because that means I'm the only one bothering to get through the various trees and branches obstructing the paths. I'm hoping to get back before wineberry season is over. A few spots are exploding with wineberries right now, and I'd like to get back and pick enough to brew a batch of wineberry homebrew. Even if that doesn't work out, I'll be back many more times for the peace and quiet I found here. read more

Went here for a hike. It was disappointing honestly. The actual trail heads were not doted online or easy to find at the visitor center. They're actually a 3 mile drive back on the main road. The trails were poorly marked and poorly maintained. read more

Great State Park in northern Bucks County, with a focus on water activities in the large manmade lake. The boy scouts have a big camp here. More remote than the more hilly and forested Tyler Park, Nock is a nice destination if you are looking for a drive in the countryside, followed by a long hike around the lake. The facilities were severely damages by Hurricane Sandy two years ago, but most repairs/restorations have been completed, and it is open for business. On the way to and from, many small restaurants, cafes, ice cream shops, and farm stands, provide fun places to browse, shop and snack. I participated in my first triathlon here. The lake is huge, but they don't allow swimming outside of the race which is disappointing. Apparently there's a big pool complex. There are lots of boating options, and picnic tables, as well as some nice trails. read more

My friend and I were enjoying our time until the ending. We had gotten lost and we tried to call the boat rental place 30 minutes prior to closing but no one picked up. No one came looking for us until 6:30. We came back and i understand the staff was tired and wanted to go home but it seemed like they were more worried about the money in their pocket compared to our safety. I didn't fight with them when the guy said i could only pay $50 compared to the $110 in overtime fees but they still made me feel like shit even though I was cooperating and calm at first but then one of the employees got me frustrated and basically said I had no right to be. I have so much love for this beautiful, expansive park. Nockamixon lake is gorgeous and teeming with life, a perfect boating spot, walking spot, complete with even a public pool and playground. The crown jewel of Nockamixon park, however, is the mountain bike trails located on Tower Road. Rated second best in the state (first place went to the trails created by the writers of the list) these dirt trails are comprised of serveral interesting yet rideable loops along the lake edge and through the lush forests. Overall, Nockamixon park is an absolutely beautiful collection of ways to enjoy the outdoors. read more

Great park for day trips or for a local escape! I love being able to just pop over to the lake for a walk with my dogs, a run, a picnic, to kayak or just a place to unwind. The walking trails and mountain biking trails are two of my favorite parts about the park. Also the boat rental place has stand up paddle boards! SO fun! read more

This is a lovely spot, although it's a bit of a hike from the city. There are some short hiking/biking trails, a swimming pool with changing areas (with a fee), and a beautiful lake. There is a boat rental place with kayaks, paddleboats, and even pontoon boats available. I saw heaps of sailboats and also lot's of great fishing opportunities. In this flat neck of the woods, it was also nice to see a large hill that you could almost pretend was a small mountain. This is a beautiful place to spend the afternoon, have a picnic, and enjoy the warm summery air. read more

If u go on the weekend, it gets pretty crowded. The area gets packed with people setting up grills/music/tents literally everywhere. It's free, so, well yeah. So the pool is why I go. It's got slides and a nice kiddie pool. It's $7 to get in. The problem is some of the people that come in don't have any regard or respect for anyone else in the pool. Rough housing around little kids, cursing, butting in line. There were people swimming in jeans/bras/sandals. There was even a guy in there with a button down shirt. It's funny because the website says they're very strict about bathing suits only. The life guards didn't really seem to care too much about what went on. I've heard they've had problems with bacteria in the pool (babies in non swimmer diapers). I really was nervous leaving my stuff unattended. It seems to be a totally different environment on weekdays. Everything else about the park is great. read more

Great disc golf course if you are up for a challenge with awesome scenery. One of the best all around courses around.
