Between this park and Trexler Park it's hard to decide which is better because each one offers a lot. At Cedar Beach you're talking four basketball courts, four volleyball courts, a half mile walking trail around Lake Muhlenberg, various picnic pavilions and of course the star of the show; the 1900 square foot destination playground which is one of the finest in the area even if some things after almost six years are starting to show their age like a few of the swings that are currently missing, but I digress. Not everything is what it could be with Cedar Pool being closed all last year due to a leak but at least it's not like in the 80's and 90's when Canadian Geese overran the park and made everything a giant cesspool of goose shit to the point that city would capture hundreds or even thousands of birds a year and truck them to other states. articles.mcall.com/1987-06-23/news/2570803_1_geese-goose-population-migratory-birds But, between the pool, the playground, the sport courts, the variety of trees and the rose garden across the street it's truly a beautiful place.

No, this park wasn't perfect and I actually didn't dig the extensive paved unshaded pathway, but what I found most unique about the park was the many mature, gorgeous trees that had a fuller growth pattern than I've seen at most other parks. And yes, the creek is pretty and adds extra appeal, too. I was also glad to see young trees that had been planted in bare spots. There's a small but adequate free parking lot on Cedar Creek Rd, and street parking is also available. I hope this park continues to grow for generations.

Rose bushes that clearly have been cared for by loving handlers. I used to have roses on my property and I know how fussy they can be. The path around the small lake is a joy to walk, and very well paved. I would love to visit here again someday.

I saw a few that I could not identify by eye or app that looked rare to me. It would be nice if some of the the rarer specimens were tagged. Also felt like some of the trees were in need of an arborist. There is quite the monoculture going on along the creek bed, poison hemlock I believe. It's such an enjoyable spot but there is so much more potential that I see. A few areas seem in disrepair, stairways to entry in one of the buildings on site. Hopefully they can save the building and make the walkways a little safer. Ideally an arborist would give some of the trees some attention and maybe some conservationist could do something about the hemlock. Totally worth the trip though. Ample parking.

But it has a nice little pavilion where you can barbecue and probably have a little get together. Lots of grass. The pathway is made of recycled, shredded rubber from tires I believe. It gives you a nice soft, cushiony feel when you walk. Throughout that trail you will see different exercise systems, that will help your exercise regime throughout. Incredible park to visit!

The walking trail looks nicely shaded in one area, and has mulch floor in the shaded area, with a paved trail in the full sun area. Neither are fabulous with wheelchair access, yet great place for kiddos to burn off energy. Pavilion offers picnic tables, shade & ample room for breeze weather permitting. Bathrooms are considered accessible, with the womens having an out of regulation bump at the door, but still possible to overcome by many. If no one in your party has a physical disability, this is the park for you! Even with a disability, our party will likely return another time for the awesome energy burn. Please consider rubber flooring for play area, accessible parking, and access for all.
