a hand holding a chocolate chip cookie

i loved the cookies here! i got the chocolate chip cookie ($2.59 for a single cookie). it was chewy and the right size. specialty cookies are $3.49. they have 2 deals: buy 5 get 1 free for $12.95 and buy 10 get 3 free for $25.90. they also cell cakes ($39.99-58.99). there was no line when i got there and customer service was quick. they are located on the second floor of the mall of america by the east entrance. overall rating: 8/10

Chocolate chip double doozie

How does this place not have more 5 star reviews?! We got a fresh made double doozie, so good!! Pro tip: if you want a fresh doozie, look in the display window and see if what kind is not featured, in my case it was chocolate chip. Ask if they have anymore and they will say you can make you one, the fresh ones are the best!! Is is a sugary bomb? Yep! Is that the point (at least in my opinion)? Yep! Special treat for sure!

This place was good to boost the blood sugar of the two kids I had in tow with me on a Saturday but was nothing special. We all got regular cookies, nothing filled or a cookie cake, but we were all satisfied. I had the domino, the kids got PB M&M and strawberry & creme. Both liked them I guess since they ate it all. Nothing noteworthy, but a good stop for a little pick-me-up if you're at MOA.

Cookie cake slice. Looks great, but was hard and stale.

I love Great American cookies, but have been really disappointed by this location. The cookie cake slices always seem stale and are hard, not the soft gooey cake that I've had in other locations. I even asked if the slices were fresh and soft last time I was there and the worker responded yes. They were not. I took a few bites and then chucked it. It's a shame that this is the location convenient to me because I will not be going back. It's not worth $4 for a stale, crusty slice of cake being passed off as fresh. I went there last in February for my birthday when they were running a 'free cake for Leap Day babies' promo where those born on 2/29 would get free individual cookie cakes. I went to this location on my lunch break to get one and imagine how disappointed I was when the worker wasn't familiar with the deal. I showed her the promo online and she said she could not honor it because it would take time to cook the cake and she needs manager approval-- huh?? As consolation she gave me a free slice, but again it was stale and hard. So not only did I not the the cake promised, but got a stale slice. Love Great American, but not this location.

With all the food on the third floor of the Mall of American standing out is hard. I was in need of some quick pick me up sugar and chose an overprice doubled layered cookie. Sadly I paid the price both with my wallet and with the sugar-filled and grainy frosting squeezing out all over bit after bit.

It's December 10th and they still have a happy Halloween cookie on display. The thanksgiving themed cookie I got was stale.

If I want to catch a bug from one of the workers and get flicked off, I'll go to some place that tastes better.

She was trying to be very helpful in my selection. It was a large slice cut into a thick triangle with a single thin red swirl through it. I have no idea what that was, and I tasted no cinnamon, just cardamom, another spice I love, but it was dry and lacked enough flavor to be satisfying, so I wouldn't order it again. I should have had a custard-filled Bismarck instead!

I decided to pay a visit on a cold rainy day, it was the perfect day to do so. I had major sweet bread cravings and they were fulfilled. I grabbed a tray, selected conchas and salty bread. When I went to pay I noticed they also had Atole (a Mexican hot drink). I asked for a strawberry flavored Atole and OMG! It was perfect and hot. They sell a small selection of grocery products for your convenience and Mexican food as well, deli style. The tamales looked good, they were selling fast when I was there. This bakery is very clean and the bread is baked daily. The conchas are REALLY good here. I also purchased a bread that inside had cheese and jalapeños, this is one of my favorites and they NAILED IT. I got two of those and it's easy to prep breakfast, I stuff it with scrambled eggs and done-- got myself a breakfast sandwich! Prices are also very reasonable. Glad this area has a bakery like this! It has all you wished a bakery offered: tamales, atole, cakes, delicious pan dulce and great customer service!

The selection is large, and they are contantly replenishing the shelves with fresh-baked goods. A lot of those are on the pricey side, which might contribute to a bougie reputation for this chain. But the items on the drink menu are much more reasonable. I had a matcha lemonade that was just okay; I don't think I'd order it again because you can't really mix it the way they serve it to you. But they have a whole bunch of interesting coffee and tea options. I also had a hot item that was pretty good. They have a heater that looks like something from a convenience store, and there are hot offerings in there like the flatbread-esque thing I had. It did actually taste quite good, but I think if they are serious about hot items they could manage a better presentation. There are compelling selections in that little box. The pastries I bought were absolutely delicious. Again kind of pricey, but the quality is immediately noticeable and I will 100% be back for some of those things. And I'll probably try some coffees & teas in the future.

The pastries here are really good! You have to try a little bit of everything, it's hard to not go crazy here and grab everything. The taro flavored pastries are my favorite. Just grab a tray on your way in and pick up whatever pastries look tasty to you with the tongs provided. You also have to try out their drinks here. They are really good! I would recommend the matcha. They are usually really busy so they aren't too friendly but they keep things moving. They do take the time to wrap up your pastries for you. I usually just grab my stuff to go since seating is limited when it's busy. It's a great spot to stop in for a sweet treat or quick snack throughout the day.

Contrary, coming into the intimate home shop in Saint Paul hit different. As a Saint Paul girly, I absolutely adore small businesses. Marc Heu has a great location across from the co-op on Dale. Due to the pastry lineup altering so frequently, there are no signs detailing the pastry product so there is definitely interaction with staff members to ensure you are getting what you want. The staff is attentive, dressed in uniform and ready to take orders with a note pad upon arrival. Fortunately both days I have went, there were no lines but I also understand lines are common here which is something to be aware of. Inside there are small circular tables to enjoy your pastry and or coffee in. I would not recommend bringing a laptop as this is a tiny shop with an emphasis on eating, mingling and departing. Other reviews will dink stars because they will say the pricing is high however, I think, the pricing is reasonable giving the high quality of baking effort and the quality of service provided. In addition, this is not a spot to come 24/7, rather, special moments such as a birthday, holiday or celebration. With that, I feel like the price is justified. Line or not - the pasty variety is outstanding! My husband and I had a donut with a spiced icing and some other filling and every bite we kept saying yum or oh my gosh this is so good. Inspired from France, you will 100% feel transported as the shop itself resembles France from the interior and obviously the baking follows suit. The display case is the center of attention when you walk in. I highly recommend stopping when in Saint Paul or purchasing at a coffee shop should you happen to see the line of Marc Heu. There are a few other stores in the area, otherwise, Grand Avenue is right up the road should you want to make a day of supporting local. Saint Paul is so lucky to have a slice of France in our city. Thank you!
