Took my car here for a quick oil change and tire rotation. They stripped a lug nut and broke the screw off the wheel. I was given a quote of over 1000 and a full day back at the shop to replace it. I calmly stood my ground. They did end up replacing the broken part and did not charge me for it. They did still charge me for the oil change and tire rotation. They kept my car in the shop all day. They were dishonest and a headache to deal with. Please do not take your car here, even for something as simple as an oil change and tire rotation. read more

They over charged me two times and they tried to sell me a spare tire for 200 bucks and i went to junk yard and bought a spare tire for just a 30 bucks. I went in to get a basic oil change and i'm guessing because i'm a 21 year old girl they told me I "HAVE" to get the most expensive option, which just isn't true. Once i got the $150!!!!! oil change, he came in with a sheet of paper with like 12 "problems" that I need to fix today!! Things like telling me i need to replace all 4 tires after getting brand new ones just a couple months before. He went through each issue and explained why i HAVE to get all of these fixed today. Due to mechanics incompetence I had to leave my car with them for over 24 hours for what was supposed to be a 2 hour service. The majority of that time they spent trying to convince me and my family that the only way my car would be driveable was if they made a replacement on a part that was an extra 700$. During this whole process they dragged their feet and had no problem about NOT telling me anything that about was going on with my car. It wasn't until my boyfriend called them and questioned them further about the replacement part, that issue was suddenly solved and my car was ready for pickup, even though they performed a 150$ unauthorized service. When picking up my car the general manager had nothing say but the assistant manager told me I should be happy she tried to save me 700$ even though it was their mistake. read more

I had been getting my oil changed in Chesnee, SC for $40. The couple who ran the oil change business closed it down and Grease Monkey opened it back up so I thought I would give them a try. Pros: The first thing I noticed is that they had more check points. In addition to checking the air pressure in the tires, they checked and topped up the coolant. They pulled and checked my engine air filter and my cabin air filter. Both were dirty and I was asked if I wanted them changed. I agreed to the change without asking the price. That was my mistake. Cons: When I went to pay, they charged me more than $150. When I commented that I guess I will have to start back doing my own work, he asked if I was a first-time customer. When I said yes, he gave me a 10% discount that saved me $14.90. My final charge (tax included) was $141.07. I was billed $59.99 for a STP cabin air filter that sells at the AutoZone right down the street for $12.99. I priced it there because I am pretty sure one of the guys walked down the street and purchased it there. The engine air filter was a generic no name. It just said, "Made in China", so I priced another STP brand. They charged me $34.99 for a filter AutoZone sells for $18.99. Keep in mind that they removed my dirty filters as a part of their oil change/inspection. They either had to put my filters back or a new one so there is no labor charge consideration. For the two filters I paid a 297% markup above retail price. I feel like I was overcharged by at least $50, but I do appreciate the $14.90 discount. I think the $49.99 conventional oil change is probably a fair value, but I would not recommend allowing the Grease Monkeys to do anything else. read more

I went in for a routine oil change. While there, they discovered a part that was damaged and needed to go get it from another store - fine. After waiting an hour, the front desk guy informed me that the oil housing filter was broken and was leaking oil, and that I wouldn't be able to drive my car home until it was fixed, which wouldn't be for 2 days because the part wasn't available - fine. I took an Uber home because my husband was at home with our two young children. My husband called to try to figure out what was going on. Bruce, at Grease Monkeys, told him that while changing my oil, his technicians told me that the oil housing filter was stuck and that they would need to break it off to change the oil and that I approved it. The problem with that is, THAT NEVER HAPPENED. They lied. The never spoke to me about it until it was already broken and leaking oil. Then, Bruce told my husband that the part would not be available for 8 days so we would have to wait until then. We called around for the part and one was available the next day at the dealership, but it was $100 more. Bruce and Grease Monkeys were going to make us wait 8 days to save $100. They got the part the next day after we confronted them. Finally, when we went to pick the car up, we were told that we owed $700. SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS. $200 for the part and $500 for labor. All the technicians gathered around to see what was going to happen (very professional!). Of course, Bruce wasn't there to speak with my husband, and he informed the guy at Grease Monkeys that he would not be paying $700 and that they needed to call Bruce and get it approved. In the end, we paid for the part and not the $500 labor. Shouldn't have even paid for the part but just wanted to get out of there. Please don't go to Grease Monkeys. They are liars and cheats, and only looking out for themselves. read more

Don't go to the Augusta rd location. Brought my car in for a noise in the back right wheel. They tried to sell me breaks even though they replaced all 4 just 3 months prior. They diagnosed it as a wheel bearing and replaced which was not cheap. I left with a worse noise than I brought it in with. Took it to a different location and they identified the real issue in less than a minute. The real issue is only half the cost of the wheel bearing but at this point I've had to pay for both. They didn't care about actually fixing my problem, just trying to sell me parts read more

Went in for a routine oil change and asked the technicians to check my brakes because they weren't working properly. Was upsold by the technicians to replace my entire brake system, but as I drove my car throughout the week I was still having issues with my brakes to the point where I had to use my ebrakes. I called concerned and they said that the issue I was having with my brakes had nothing to do with them because they never worked on the part that was malfunctioning. So they admitted that they didn't fix what they initially charged me for and took zero accountability to help. The staff there, specifically the manager Bruce and Brittany, were absolutely rude and unprofessional. They lied that they weren't going to be working the next day so they wouldn't have to deal with me. I'm out thousands and they won't even offer to tow my car so it's rotting away in a different county right now. The kicker is, when I had a second opinion, they let me know that the technicians at Grease Monkey did such a horrible job installing the brakes that they didn't want to even work on the car and be held liable for such poor work. The company should be ashamed by their lack of accountability, un professionalism, and horrible execution of services! read more

The people are friendly but can be a little pushy and misleading about what is needed and come to find out the costs for the services they provide are not competitive to the other shops in the area. I went today to have my Tundra oil changed. I use Mobil 1 full synthetic. The base price was $129.99 for 5 quarts. The truck takes 8.5 quarts. They charged an additional 3.5 quarts at $16.99 a quart for the Mobil1 full synthetic. This should be posted, and I should have asked beforehand for an exact price on the oil. I by this oil often and change the oil myself when I have time and figured they would be about retail price for a quart. The average retail price for a quart of Mobil1 full synthetic in America is about $8. BUT! They charged more than double retail for the product. This is bad business, and they lost a customer over their ridiculous price for goods. I paid the $199 for a truck synthetic oil change because they did the work before I got the price. My son was taking his 2000 Honda civic there for an oil change but now we are not taking any of our business here. read more

This is by far the best shop I've found in Greenville. The staff is always so friendly, and they're always great at patiently explaining everything they're working on to those of us who aren't so knowledgable when it comes to cars (like me). They are always fair and honest; I trust them more than any other car shop/mechanic. I won't even take my car to my own dealership; the one time I did they messed up and I ended up going to Grease Monkey for help anyways. The last time I was there, I asked them if they could help me figure out why all my dashboard lights were on when I had just gotten an oil change (from my dealership) 1000 miles ago. They did a full inspection, found out what they thought was going on (a clogged pressure valve), and offered to clean it out to see if that would fix it (it did), all within 30 minutes. They didn't even charge me since it was such an easy fix. I will never go anywhere else; these guys are the best! read more
